[13:05] <tjaalton> have there been issues with zfs/grub on xenial lately? I'm not able to boot my server anymore, claims that the device doesn't exist. it's a 4 disk mirrored pool, data is fine since I can get to it via a live session

[14:15] <tjaalton> hrm, trying to access the disk from grub rescue shell says "unknown filesystem"
[14:33] <jhg_> tjaalton: I had an issue which I was unable to isolate. it seemed like different drivers were builtin to the kernel, which caused initrd stage to not find the disks (hw raid array).
[14:35] <tjaalton> I reinstalled grub-pc, looks like it failed to install grub to one of the disks, because the disk-id had an extra comma appended

[14:36] <tjaalton> grub-probe etc all pass fine
[14:37] <jhg_> and older kernels work?
[14:39] <tjaalton> it doesn't get past grub..
[14:39] <jhg_> when did it break
[14:39] <tjaalton> I had to shut it down two weeks ago

[14:39] <tjaalton> had it running for months before that

[14:40] <tjaalton> updates are installed automatically
