Now I am stuck at the graphical Ubuntu MATE login screen and the keyboard appears to not work and the mouse does not seem to interact with the gui at all. Does anyone know how I can fix this? [04:48] webuser291: not sure. but you can hit ctrl+alt+f1 to goto a terminal to login and poke around from there [04:49] if that's not working, then you would want to interrupt grub and boot into single/rescue mode [05:00] thanks for the tips, I'll see what I can do [08:01] Heips ! [08:05] Hi there [08:05] Greets from Finland [08:05] Did England won ,,,in football ? [08:06] Alkisg: I have a small prob with my Raspberry pi 3 [08:06] i hop you can help [08:06] risto_: nice, ask in the channel and see if someone knows and is available to answer [08:07] first time here....what channel for FAQ's ??? [08:08] In IRC, you ask, then wait, then people might look in their IRC clients and see the question, and if they know the answer they might help [08:09] So usually you just come here, ask, and wait for half an hour or so, and check if anyone answered [08:09] ok...Thanks [08:10] My Ubuntu mate 16 probelem is like this: My Raspberry pi 3 + Ubuntu Mate 16.04 cab'r [08:10] addjust monitor settings [08:11] Reason: Unknown displays.....both Acer LCD and Plasma TV [08:13] Mate is using now 1824x984 with comment unknown monitor....i can't addjust resolutions [08:27] AFAIK in raspberries you adjust the resoultion from config.txt, because they have weird graphics cards and drivers [08:27] I.e. they don't yet support the xrandr protocol [08:27] So if you're looking for 1920x1080, you would disable "overscan" there [08:27] https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/configuration/config-txt/ === gigi is now known as Guest64359 [15:59] Hello [16:01] hi [16:02] Could some help me please. I tried find a solution on the internet, but couldn't. My thinkpad L420 overheats and poweroff and I'll use for thinks such as updating, installing new programs and even watching stream. [16:03] I had it cleaned it, the the problems persist. [16:04] I installed the mate 18.04 [16:04] use sensors to observe the heat [16:15] how can i prevent it from overheating? [16:16] mate|81152, open this link: http://dpaste.com/1V0E9TP [16:17] copy the command to the terminal and hit enter [16:17] tell me when done [16:20] ok, I can see the temp now [16:26] mate has a sensors applet too [16:29] ok, I can see the temp now. 60C idling. By installing a new program, it jumped to 81C. Critical would be 85C and then automatic poweroff. [16:30] but how can i prevent it from reaching such a high temp. [16:31] mate|81152, most probably by replacing the thermal paste [16:31] or even better, liquid metal [16:32] I did that last week. Or at least that's what I paid someone to do. [16:33] hehe, what country you from? [16:33] germany [16:33] oh, they should do german quality repairs [16:34] i'd advice you to go back to that service center and tell them to troubleshoot the machine better [16:34] that's what one would expect. :) [16:34] ok thanks. [16:35] no problem, i hope you fix this issue because overheating is a real pc killer. [16:49] how loaded is the cpu when you are having issues? [17:00] haven't checked that. I just hear the fan going full blast [17:01] mate|81152, also what is the surface that you place your laptop on? [17:01] on top of the desk [17:07] top in a terminal will show cpu and load average etc === ubuntu-mate is now known as marek-PL [22:13] Do .run files hurt ubuntu mate?
