IrcsomeBot3<gabgab86> Hello good people! My name is Gabriel, and I joined this group because I'm having a problem in my kubuntu 18.04, maybe someone can find a solution, I've googled my problem, but I've found anything about it.05:13
diogenes_gabgab86, that's very mysterious problem, i've neve heard of05:17
niccagenickGoogled? Never hear before05:18
IrcsomeBot3<gabgab86> When I delete a file located in an external unit (USB stick or external hdd) the deleted file is moved to the Trash found in ~/.local/shared/Trash instead of creating a new trash folder in my external unit. … I wouldn't have any problem if I had a normal HDD, but I own a SSD as my main disk. … Thanks in advance!!05:19
IrcsomeBot3<gabgab86> @niccagenick, Sorry, english is not my main language googled = search in google 😅05:20
=== pan is now known as Guest8931
diogenes_gabgab86, that's the expected normal behavior, if you wanna remove files permanently without sending them to trash, use shift+del.05:26
IrcsomeBot3<gabgab86> @diogenes_, So the .trash folder created in the root of the external unit is not created anymore?05:30
diogenes_gabgab86, all the files deleted on any external things attached to your pc, they go into your OS trashcan05:35
IrcsomeBot3<gabgab86> @diogenes_, Thank you!!!!05:36

smurfsloverHi, i have a triple boot windows 10 + kubuntu + kde neon, after installing a kernel update in kubuntu it overwrote the grub bootloader in MBR09:04
smurfsloverNow i can't find how to reinstall kde neon's grub, grub-install works and reports no errors but on reboot i'm stuck with kubuntu's grub again09:05
diogenes_smurfslover, sudo update-grub09:06
smurfsloveryeah tried that and grub-install /dev/sda09:07
smurfsloverseems to work but looks like kubuntu has it's grub locked in to the mbr (efi setup)09:07
diogenes_smurfslover, what do you get at grub when you boot the system? do you get windows too?09:08
Elw3efi? mbr?09:08
smurfsloverEFI boot system, mbr is master boot record09:08
Elw3No i meant, to mdy understanding that wont work together.09:09
Elw3As efi uses a boot partition and mbr is above of that.09:09
smurfsloverElw3: so how do i get my kde neon grub back as default09:10
smurfsloverafter that worked i can remove and block grub in ubuntu09:10

BluesKajHi folks11:29
jubo2AAAAGHH!12:34
BluesKajjubo2, what now?12:35
jubo2Added a new identity to Kmail with the Account Wizard but it does not show up where the accounts should be listed (the lefthand box in the main view)12:35
jubo2In Settings -> Configure Kmail -> Accounts it shows up just fine12:36
jubo2and the mailbox is being checked since I got a popup about the test email I sent to it12:36
jubo2But I find no way to make the account show up where the folders should be in a tree12:37
BluesKajwell, sorry I can't help with kmail, since I heven't used it since kde312:38
jubo2Seems the Account Wizard is buggy12:41
jubo2What does one expect when one borrows Micro$oft lingo..12:41
BluesKajhow do you know it's MS lingo, they stole a lot from unix12:42
jubo2Yeah.. removing the account created by Account Wizard and manually recreating it had the desired outcome12:43
jubo2So the fix to the problem: "Do not use Account Wizard. Add accounts manually."12:43
BluesKajsome wizards are definitely not worth the trouble they can cause12:44
BluesKajlike the autopartitoning in ubunquity12:45
BluesKajerr ubiquity'12:45

jubo2AAAAGH! How difficult can it be to make outgoing email to be actually sent (Kmail issue)15:02
jubo2I'm trying with SMTP over encrypted connection with username and password but mail delivery just fails15:03
jubo2ok.. changing port from 25 to 465 did the trick15:06
jubo2the account creation wizard ought to have a "does not work very well"-note attached to it15:06
jubo2next problem.. how to choose the correct identity for email sending.. Currently the only way I see is to go to "settings -> configure Kmail -> identities" and to change which is the "default" identity but this is clunky like hell15:10
jubo2Will hang around in case someone knows how to conveniently select as which Kmail identity to compose the new email as15:13
BluesKajjubo2, why not ask in #kde chat15:48
jubo2BluesKaj: good idea15:49
