timur_Hello00:50
timur_I have a question.00:54
timur_Предложить исправление00:54
timur_Will the normal locale kde-l10n-eo be restored in the repositories?00:55
timur_Yes, I know that she is in the repository again. But earlier the esperanto-locale was more complete.00:57
qwebirc85912Group permissions do not work in terminal emulators and file manager. What might be the cause?03:53

olienootje5I am a bit uncertain, the iso has AMD in it's name, does that also work for Intelbased systems?11:31
olienootje5I ordered a notebook where I want to run Kubuntu, like on my Desktop.11:32
BluesKajolienootje5, yes it works on intel and amd11:33
DragnslcrYeah, the 64-bit version of both Intel and AMD processors are called "amd64"11:35
olienootje5Thanks you, I will download the ISO now, Tomorrow the notebook arrives. I work with Kubuntu for over 14 years now an usually build my own PC with AMD, never had to think about that.11:35
olienootje5Bye and thnaks again.11:37
crmltwhy baloorunner sometimes eats all 8GB's of my ram and then keeps swapping and my systems becomes totally unresponsive? what could be wrong?12:03
zxq9crmlt: I had a problem like that years ago. There was some problem with baloo endlessly trying to open too much stuff to index it all at once (I had a ton of files).12:06
zxq9But... I haven't seen that for a long time. Not sure why it got better, exactly. Probably someone else has more current knowledge.12:07
crmltsame thign happen when I run augustin@kubuntu:~$ baloosearch test12:08
crmltKilled12:08
crmltwell i  have almost no data12:08
zxq9How old is your install?12:08
BluesKajcrmlt, which kubuntu?12:08
crmltonly 13GBs used12:08
zxq9Older KDE version?12:09
crmlt18.0412:09
crmltnope12:09
zxq9:-/12:10
crmltCan I somehow restore baloo's config files and wipe the index db?12:11
BluesKajcrmlt, do you need file search, if not it can be disabled in systemsettings>search12:12
crmltBluesKaj: well i can live with out it but i'd like rather have it12:12
crmltbut currently it doesn't even work...12:13
crmltsomething gone wrong today...12:13
BluesKajdepends, is this a production system, on the job etc, or are you a home users?12:14
BluesKajuser12:14
crmltI index only my home which has only 66 files12:14
crmltwell i create webpages, scripts some graphihcs etc. it's my workstation12:15
crmltso the search is sometimes really useful12:15
BluesKajok, but if the search is interfering with your workflow then, best to disable it and make a list of important file paths, until the bug is fixed12:17
crmltwhat exatly baloorunner does?12:17
crmlti've just disabled file search via systemsettings and then baloorunner started and was eating all my ram again12:18
BluesKajit shouldn't index all your files everytime you boot , only the ones that have changed afaik12:18
BluesKajthink a reboot is necessary12:19
zxq9Permissions on the db file? (or something similar and weird?)12:19
crmltcould be something like this12:20
zxq9My problem was the initial indexing was just a tremendous load -- before Baloo had any throttling.12:20
zxq9These days it just zips through and I don't have any issue. And once in a blue moon I actually wind up searching and think to myself "whoa! That actually is kinda handy!"12:20
crmlti think this started when I unticked the expand search option... in app launcher settings12:20
crmltmay ssystem then got completely freezed and I had to do hard shutdown12:21
zxq9Hm. Maybe that forced a reindex.12:21
zxq9Like a full vacuum of the DB or some other operation that was unexpectedly resource heavy.12:22
crmltyeah i think so12:22
crmltbut then I excluded everethyn except my home12:22
crmltwhich has only 1,6 gigs12:23
crmltso it should index it quickly12:23
crmltbut somethings is corrupted12:23
zxq9I'm not familiar enough with Baloo to know much about what settings it has. When it caused a problem I turned it off. Now it doesn't cause a problem so it does whatever it does. But I do know a bit about databases, and it might be overloading some enormous in-memory sorts or something if you have tons of tiny files.12:24
crmltthe baloo just eat all my ram and then crash12:24
zxq9Try killing Baloo, deleting its cache and DB files, resetting it to defaults, and having another go.12:24
zxq9If that works, kill everything again and wipe its DBs, then try again with the settings you want (expanded search or whatever).12:25
crmltzxq9: ok but my i've isntalled kubuntu yesterday a do not have any personal data12:25
crmltonly needed . files like in .config etc.12:26
zxq9Usually accumulating and committing the data initially isn't such an intensive operation (for your disk, but not in memory). But reworking the indexes might be.12:26
zxq9Your 1.6GB of data in $HOME has lots of little files, or a few big files?12:26
crmltzxq9: thats what i'd like to do but i don't have idea where its files are...12:27
crmlt23801 files total12:27
zxq9http://www.odi.ch/weblog/posting.php?posting=70212:27
crmltbut these are neccesary for web broswers caches etc. ...12:28
zxq9~/.local/share/baloo/12:28
crmlti see12:28
zxq9I think it indexes your email, too.12:28
zxq9If it can get at it, anyway.12:28
crmlti do not desktop mail client12:29
crmlt:-)12:29
crmltthe system is almost completely clean12:29
crmlto do not use*12:29
zxq9Hah. Yeah, my ~/.local/share/baloo/index is almost 1GB by itself.12:29
crmltmy was onyl 1MB12:30
crmltwhat about .config/baloofilerc12:30
zxq9I have a ton of small files.12:30
crmltthere is first run=false12:30
zxq9Hm. I don't know about the config one.12:30
crmltno12:30
crmltfirst run=false12:30
crmltops12:30
crmlti mean it was true12:30
zxq9IIRC Baloo just fixed everything it was missing and I don't think I touched any config stuff.12:30
crmltshould be false shouldn't be?12:30
* crmlt going to reboot12:32
* crmlt brb12:32
crmltaugustin@kubuntu:~$ balooctl check12:34
crmltStarted search for unindexed files12:34

crmltaugustin@kubuntu:~$ baloosearch test12:37
crmlt/home/augustin/hosts/ci/test.sh12:37
crmltElapsed: 0.290704 msecs12:37
crmltno crash12:38
crmltno hang12:38
crmltsomething was messed with db12:38
BluesKajdo you run sudo updatedb periodically crmlt?12:43
crmltwhats the purpose of that?12:47
crmlti haven't used it yet12:47
zxq9updatedb updates system-wide filename search for the `locate` utility.12:48
crmlti see12:49
zxq9Should also update once every so often as a cron job (I think once a day, but that might not be true anymore).12:49
zxq9I don't recall if it is installed by default.12:50
crmltsomething went wrong when i unchecked thhe expand search option...12:53
crmltprobably it corrupted the db12:54

rgvonPlease suggest a time-tracking app where I can manually add entries.I tried Time Log but it only tracks the time spent on computer.13:40

thatfossguyHey, anyone know what plasma version is available for kubuntu right now?20:37
thatfossguyI'm not on kubuntu atm so I can't check20:37
niccagenickYeah, 5.12.620:38
niccagenickIn my kubuntu20:38
thatfossguyoh, ok.. thanks20:38
niccagenickFor nothing20:39
thatfossguy:P20:39
niccagenickI'm waiting the 5.13 plasma like kde plasma neon... Thats very very better.. But now it's that version I think20:40
thatfossguyI'm downloading neon right now. Would prefer 5.13.x on kubuntu tbo, but yeah, neon it is.20:42
geniiYou can also check by way of the bot here any package's version with the !info packagename distversion20:42
genii!info plasma-framework cosmic20:43
ubottuplasma-framework (source: plasma-framework): Plasma Runtime components. In component universe, is optional. Version 5.47.0-0ubuntu1 (cosmic), package size 3502 kB, installed size 6934 kB20:43
thatfossguyhum, what's with that version number?20:45
geniiThat's the framework version20:46
genii!info plasma-desktop20:46
ubottuplasma-desktop (source: plasma-desktop): Tools and widgets for the desktop. In component universe, is optional. Version 4:5.12.6-0ubuntu0.1 (bionic), package size 1885 kB, installed size 9626 kB20:46
niccagenick5.47?20:46
geniiFor the framework, yes. As !info plasma-desktop shows though, plasma version itself is 5.1220:46
niccagenickOh got it!20:47
niccagenickAnyone knows if kubuntu will upgrade the system to 5.13 or it is exclusive for KDE neon? Any data or something?20:49
niccagenickIs it*20:50
IrcsomeBot3<TaurohtaRR> @niccagenick, 18.04 will stick with LTS version of KDE that currently is 5.1221:01
IrcsomeBot3<TaurohtaRR> 18.10 most probably will be with 5.1321:01
