[04:17] Unit193: can you edit topic with 18.04.1 released please? [04:22] https://lubuntu.me/bionic-1-released/ [05:15] magnet:?xt=urn:btih:3ddf5f6333494a4f23cccbfbd41663824d5b4097&dn=lubuntu-18.04.1-desktop-i386.iso&tr=http%3a%2f%2ftorrent.ubuntu.com%3a6969%2fannounce [06:10] I need help to install [06:11] Lubuntu-desktop on ubuntu 18.04 === IRC-serial_ is now known as lxserial [15:50] so uh [15:50] wha's up i guess [15:51] i'm here because i could use a little help with my new lubuntu installation, i'm brand new to linux [15:52] stuff like I can't seem to find a proper video driver, how can i disable mouse acceleration, how can i disable my trackpad [15:53] hey? [15:55] i mean i come to the lubuntu support channel for lubuntu support to get lubuntu support and i can't seem to get any lubuntu support from the lubuntu support channel for lubuntu support [15:55] so i mean [15:55] !patience [15:55] Don't feel ignored and repeat your question quickly; if nobody knows your answer, nobody will answer you. While you wait, try searching https://help.ubuntu.com or https://ubuntuforums.org or https://askubuntu.com/ [15:55] meat: You might try emailing the Lubuntu users list in the topic as well. [15:55] thank you [15:55] No problem. [15:56] i just wasn't sure there was actually anyone here [15:56] There's people here, just not all day. :) [15:56] fair enough lol === iulian is now known as Guest43807 [17:49] when will Lubuntu 18.04.1 LTS be released? [17:49] It was already released. [17:49] https://lubuntu.me/bionic-1-released/ [17:50] https://lubuntu.net/downloads/ still links to 18.04 [17:50] That's not our official site. [17:51] We have zero control over it. [17:51] really? [17:51] Really really. [17:52] is there any place where I can confirm which site is official? [17:52] everywhere [17:52] ^ [17:53] this channel's topic, wikipedia, distrowatch, anywhere on ubuntu.com, you name it [17:53] same as ubuntu.nl, not ours, but they fairly link to us [17:53] I'm the Lubuntu release manager, my GPG key signs every one of my uploads, you're welcome to confirm with me. [17:55] strange, has it always been the case? I've only ever used the .net site [17:55] It's been the case for years now. [17:56] ever since .me has existed it has been the official site [17:56] https://www.ubuntu.com/download/flavours links to .me so that's good enough proof for me [17:56] I check the pgp signatures anyway after downloading the .iso [17:56] to be fair, .net never was because no member of the team ever had access to it (except for the original co-founder who hasn't contributed to the project since the dawn of the project) [17:57] thank yuo all [17:57] i think the PGP signatures as it relates to the ISO hashes are signed by a general ubuntu key, btw [17:59] yes. Good signature from "Ubuntu CD Image Automatic Signing Key " [17:59] for the shasum files === TheMaster is now known as Unit193 === TheMaster is now known as Unit193 [23:01] hi, xserver-xorg-video-openchrome driver requires resetting monitor settings for normal display (VGA: 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. P4M890 [S3 UniChrome Pro] (rev 02)), I do that by setting lxrandr, but that does not set such configuration for the login screen (lightdm i believe) [23:01] is there a way to make that configuration persistent, including for the login screen? [23:03] openchromehelp, there might be a setting in the lighdm config that you have to set with the same adjustment [23:04] and you can run xrandr in autostart to have it work for the xsession [23:04] i'm pretty sure you have to have x running for xrandr to work, though [23:04] (adding info) or maybe, is there a script/package that sets this? lubuntu 15.10 used to work fine, but that driver came with the installation. [23:05] the X work fine [23:05] the screen is just bent diagonally to the left [23:05] i will try xrandr [23:06] xrandr does NOT save anything [23:06] oh [23:06] you'll have to add it to autostart to have it work [23:06] it's not saving it, but it's re-setting it every time [23:06] so that will fix keeping the config presistent [23:06] let me check if the settings are being saved for a second time [23:06] as for the login screen, that's something i'm not totally clear on [23:07] i would think lynorian made a good guess [23:09] lynorian: system -> lightdm gtk+ greeter? [23:10] (adding info) lxrandr is saving the configuration, after login screen, the display is set correctly [23:10] onto lightdm i guess [23:10] openchromehelp, yeah I don't see an option in the gui to set that [23:11] openchromehelp: are you saying after setting it correctly, if you log out, everything is fine? [23:11] wxl my interpretation is openchromehelp has used the save button in lxrandr which has been added after you started using lubuntu [23:12] so that when logging in it is correct but not at the lightdm screen [23:12] and the save button autostarts it [23:12] um, lightdm = logging in, no? [23:13] yes [23:14] right so assumedly the log in screen would look wrong initially, but after logging out, it would work [23:19] [20:12] so that when logging in it is correct but not at the lightdm screen [23:19] this [23:19] i will have to work on this later [23:50] back [23:50] [23:11:13] openchromehelp: are you saying after setting it correctly, if you log out, everything is fine? [23:50] yes [23:51] lxrandr saves the settings, whatever they are [23:51] i was at a school, they were closing, sorry for abrutly ending that [23:55] https://gist.github.com/ciarand/8592193 [23:55] possible solution [23:56] copied to https://pastebin.com/5L207grt
