cbpyeso I may have installed myself into a bit of a bind here.  At the moment, I've booted off of the install media.  I've already (presumably) successfully installed Kubuntu, but I never saw an opportunity to press 'e' and add nomodeset to my boot line.  Booting into the new install now presents me with an unusable display thanks to the noveau driver.05:14
cbpyeis there a tool on the install media that allows one to modify the GRUB configuration?05:16

silv3r_m00ni cant find kdesudo command on ubuntu 18.04 now what should i do to launch dolphin with root privileges ?09:16
Tin_mansilv3r_m00n, from what I've read you have to hack Dolphin to run in root.  I don't like Dolphin, (myself), and Installed Nautilus, which will run as root.09:35
silv3r_m00nTin_man: but where is kdesudo ?10:00

vegaaaaaaaAre the most known bugs ironed out since the last LTS release in Kubuntu?11:29
vegaaaaaaaIf there were any at all... :)11:29
vegaaaaaaaI mean since the LTS came out.11:32
BluesKajvegaaaaaaa, depends on your HW and installed drivers and apps etc11:38
vegaaaaaaaBluesKaj: True. I run Manjaro KDE and Linux Mint Cinnamon the most these days. I want something stable with an Ubuntu foundation. And with fresh KDE software. So Kubuntu is probably the best choice for me at the moment. I didn't have a good experience with neon.11:40
vegaaaaaaaOn my quest for installing drivers for my Nvidia and AMD graphics cards on Mint I fcked up my install. So Kubuntu next.11:42
BluesKajvegaaaaaaa, yeah, neon is more bleeding edge than Kubuntu. There can be problems with it alright.11:42
vegaaaaaaaI see. How minimal is the minimal Kubuntu installation?11:43
BluesKajvegaaaaaaa, is this an Optimus equipped lartop ?11:43
BluesKajerr laptop11:43
vegaaaaaaaOn the laptop I have Manjaro KDE and the WiFi isn't working properly. Most likely some bleeding edge updates that the computer didn't like. Maybe the kernel. It is on the desktop computer I will install Kubuntu.11:44
BluesKajok11:45
vegaaaaaaaIt has an Nvidia 1070 and an AMD RX570 or something.11:45
vegaaaaaaaNot sure which of those drivers that ruined the Mint installation. I think the amdgpu did the havoc.11:46
BluesKajKubuntu can handle most desktop HW quite well, but 2 different brand gpu can pose a problem in some cases , especially with multiple monitors11:47
vegaaaaaaaI see. I use 1-2 monitors.11:48
vegaaaaaaappa:kubuntu-ppa/backports is the official KDE backport?11:48
BluesKajI don't know much about using multiple gpus/monitors11:49
vegaaaaaaaHmm. Unsupported packages from untrusted PPA?11:49
BluesKajfrom launchpad ?11:52
vegaaaaaaaYeah11:53
vegaaaaaaaBut I guess it's just a typical warning since it is not the standard experience11:53
BluesKajyou can find it here with instructions11:54
BluesKajhttps://launchpad.net/~kubuntu-ppa/+archive/ubuntu/backports11:54
BluesKajyeah, backports are development repos11:54
BluesKajfor early adopters11:55
vegaaaaaaaBut it sounds more stable to use Kubuntu+KDE-PPA than neon or Manjaro. Right?11:55
vegaaaaaaaNo bashing intended at all. Just trying to navigate the jungle.11:56
BluesKajdunno about manjaro, but Kubuntu backport ppas are usually quite stable11:57
vegaaaaaaaManjaro has been stable for me, KDE included, but I want the Ubuntu docs, support and guides. And I do not trust the AUR. So I think I will be happy with Kubuntu again. :)11:59
vegaaaaaaaThanks for your input BluesKaj!12:00
BluesKajvegaaaaaaa,  glad to help :-)12:00
vegaaaaaaaWhen is 5.13 landing in the backports?12:43
BluesKajvegaaaaaaa, not sure , but you can add the ninjas ppa if you're feeling adventurous https://launchpad.net/~kubuntu-ninjas/+archive/ubuntu/plasma/+index12:56
BluesKajbrb12:56
BluesKajvegaaaaaaa, just installed plasma 5.13.3 and all is well so far, but I'm a Kubuntu tester so I run Kubuntu Cosmic 18.10 development OS.13:12
BluesKajstuff to do for a few mins...bbl13:13
vegaaaaaaaBluesKaj: Nice. I will just wait for it to land in the backports PPA. No problem.13:23
BluesKajvegaaaaaaa, yeah, gonna remove the ninja ppa now since it's stable as is. That way no conflits will come up until it's in the backports by default13:27
BluesKajthis is a normal procedure for testing edgy ppas13:28
BluesKajok, bbl, gonna try it on 18,0413:33

chrsDoes anyone on here use Kmymoney that would be willing to answer a few questions?21:23
oft_gegongthat would be NotKmymoney21:25
oft_gegongj/king21:25
chrsJust curious. I've never used it and I'm curious about it. Why does it ask for account information during setup?21:31
oft_gegongprobably because it's primarily a client21:31
chrsDoes it transfer any of my banking information over the internet or access my account directly online?21:32
oft_gegongI've never heard of a KDE application that accesses bank information, let me do some check ups..21:33
chrsAwesome thank you. I did some research myself but I wasn't able to find the infromation I was looking for. If its only a local-only thing, then I dont mind, but if its wanting to do outside communication, I'm not too srue. lol21:34
oft_gegongso it's like Quicken, which is money manager software. And also like Microsoft's MS-money. I'm guessing it does things like transaction/withdrawal/deposit accounting, keeping track of money. You'll probably have to see if you bank is compatible with kmymoney21:35
oft_gegonghonestly I've been using a computer a long time, my bank I usually go through their website21:36
oft_gegongwith like firefox or seamonkey web browser21:36
oft_gegongit looks/appears like a 95% "outside" thing. But the logging into banking online services might be optional through a command-line switch.21:37
chrsSorry to whoever I was speaking with about Kmymoney. My computer crashed. Stupid vmware lol21:51
oft_gegong"chrs (~chris@209.107.216.145) has left this server (Ping timeout: 256 seconds)." aha!21:52
oft_gegongchrs_:   `apt-cache show kmymoney' to show a summary of the package without having to install it22:02
