craigbass76I was running Mint (18.3), and now I'm running Ubuntu Studio. Weird, but even with XFCE, it's kind of laggy. Running a sudo command, and some of the keystrokes are missing. I have to try a couple times to get it, and type s l o w02:16
Eickmeyercraigbass76: That doesn't sound normal. I'm guessing you copied your entire home folder, which means you likely have a configuration problem.02:17
EickmeyerMight have to delete your ~/.config directory.02:17
craigbass76Eickmeyer, nope, I don't think I even copied my firefox profile02:20
Eickmeyercraigbass76: In that case, you might have a process taking some processor time. In the terminal, type "top" and see if you can find the culprit taking your CPU time.02:23
EickmeyerDefinitely not normal for Studio.02:24
EickmeyerYour issue isn't very specific to Studio, and I know people who have had Mint installed previously have had problems since Mint does some funny configuration things. Normally, I'd send you over to #ubuntu, but you were there already. That said...02:25
Eickmeyer!patience02:25
ubottuDon't feel ignored and repeat your question quickly; if nobody knows your answer, nobody will answer you. While you wait, try searching https://help.ubuntu.com or https://ubuntuforums.org or https://askubuntu.com/02:25
craigbass76Eickmeyer, I might just wipe it and start over. I had other things going on when I was doing it, so maybe I just need it fresh. I've got two other hard drive, but those are just extra drives with all my backups on them.02:28
craigbass76I haven't tried a mount -a after commenting them out in fstab... Maybe that's got something to do with it.02:28
craigbass76No biggie, just curious. This is the first time I've tried this OS.02:28
Eickmeyercraigbass76: Yeah, but the defaults in Ubuntu are very sane, and Mint is based on Ubuntu, so something with the installation went weird.02:29
craigbass76I'll just try it again when I get a couple hours with no kids or anything.02:30
Eickmeyercraigbass76: As a father myself, I highly recommend that. :)02:31
craigbass76In other news... Anyone found an online collaboration site worth joining? Or is there a community of musicians here?02:31
craigbass76I'm hoping to swap bass tracks for other things. I can't sing...02:32
Eickmeyercraigbass76: #opensourcemusicians has a very active community, and I'd love to get #ubuntustudio-offtopic a bit more active.02:34
craigbass76Well, let me get this running, and I'd love to collaborate. All the sites I've joined are mostly knuckleheads doing covers.02:35
EickmeyerI'm not a musician myself per se (though I can sing), but I'm an audio/video/lighting engineer in my day job.02:35
craigbass76Or they say they need bass track when I'm searching, but there are already bass tracks...02:35
EickmeyerYeah, that's discouraging.02:36
craigbass76What do you sing? I like jazz/fusion, but I've got a couple of traditional country-ish songs I need sung. One I wrote the night before my wedding, and finished it 12 years later...02:38
craigbass76I'll save this chat. When I get my ducks in a row, I'll hit you up.02:38
Eickmeyercraigbass76: Since this is a support channel, feel free to join #ubuntustudio-offtopic so we can continue this conversation. Not that I'm not enjoying it. :)02:38
craigbass76No biggie. Talk to you later.02:40
