[06:44] morning boys and girls. [06:44] good morning brobostigon [06:44] morning knightwise [06:45] hows it goin dude [06:47] first coffee of the day dissappearing quickly, mostly asleep, and you? [06:48] havent had coffee yet , still on tea [06:49] :) [06:52] Just posted the new podcast: https://knightwise.com/kw1302-a-look-at-knightwises-kindle/ [06:56] * brobostigon has knightwise's blog setup in his tt-rss installation, :) [06:58] :) [06:58] yeah , we have shows lined up untill mid october :) [06:58] :) [07:00] been preparing a "retro 80's cartoon themesong cover episode" [07:02] https://taylorworld.one my work in progress, :) [08:01] oooh RPG [08:11] :) [08:23] Hmm.. been buying some of those BDM magazines in the shop [08:23] computerbooks about coding, raspberry pi etc [08:23] pretty low level but well done. [08:23] 180 page magazines full of projects and instructions [08:24] only now found out they are also available as online pdf's for half the price [08:29] thats a big difference, magazines like that are inheritly expensive here, thats why my brother still buys the C'T magazine for me, which is 4.9 euro, which is £4.37, a magazine like that here would be 4 times that price. [08:32] I think i payed 19 euro's for the edition i got yesterday [08:32] ouch. [08:32] But i would prefer to have the digital versions [08:36] I'm realy into digital reading [08:36] things kicked up a notch when I found an old kindle fire at the dump this weekend :) [08:36] now I have a small tablet to read pdf's and stuff :) [08:37] :) [09:04] amazing what people throw away [09:04] oh yes. [09:07] Its a secret hobby of mine. [09:07] going to the recycling center, dumpsterdiving in the electronics bin and bringing home stuff just to fix it up and give it away [09:07] * knightwise loves that [09:08] :) [09:14] hmm. now I just need to look for a Sonos replacement for the office [09:15] been thinking about using musicbox on a pi [09:48] or I might just install mopidby on an old imac I have lying around [12:02] i've had a few ereaders from 7" cool-er to 5" kobo and a few inbetween. i usually just switch back to using phone after a while. [12:02] Nah , cant read on a phone [12:04] my first ereader was a palm iiix so i'm used to small screens. these days i use my nokia 3310 2017 edition for reading [12:04] the battery life is near infinite on the bugger :-) [12:04] yes ! Same for me [12:04] read a TON of books on that one [12:05] Palm [12:05] handspring visor [12:05] i tried reading on my earlier pda a psion 3a but it wasn't as comfy to hold to read a book [12:05] ipaQ (yes , that s a q) [12:05] then the Sony PRS 505 [12:05] a kobo, a kindle and now a kindle oasis [12:05] i remember the compaq ipaqs. one of the better pocket pc devices iirc [12:06] yes [12:06] still dreadful but way better than the rest [12:06] I read the entire han solo trilogy on the iPaq [12:06] and then some , a lot by arthur c clarke and of course star trek novels [12:07] i have all clarke and star trek on my nokia :-) [12:07] about 10gb of ebooks [12:08] Rama was probably my favorite (the first one) [12:09] i like the sequels but the series should have stopped after the first one alright [12:14] yep , never got through the second one [12:14] this weeks podcast is about "what am i reading" [12:20] the last line in the first one left it a wonderful anticipation.... [12:28] yep , but then the second books tanks [12:28] enjoyed the space oddissey series too [12:38] 2061 is the weak one of that series and i still enjoyed it... they keep saying they're going to make the film.... [12:44] Morning all [12:44] Afternoon even [12:46] 2061 ? I thought that was the best one [12:47] 3001 > 2010 > 2001 > 2061 would be my order [12:48] but i suspect the movie version of 2010 really made me like it a bit more as it was so good [12:50] especially the way 3001 was left open for a sequel as i read it... [12:59] yep , but never finished [12:59] I thought the book was way better then the movie [13:01] it was but the movie did the ships well... they did zero gravity well, the aerobraking looked fantastic.... [13:01] that is true [13:01] and the guy who did the lead (the guy from jaws) great lead [13:01] great cast [13:01] yup [13:26] teehee :) I found an old kindle fire at the dump yesterday , [13:26] turns out the thing supports bluetooth keyboard and mouse ! hilarious [13:27] if it's new enough you should be able to plug in a usb keyboard and mouse via an otg cable.... [13:28] ah ! i have one of those lying around too [13:32] sshd in via the fire :) [13:32] ha [13:34] insane that this thing even has a mini kb and mouse [19:43] seagulls are coming home to roost [19:43] big weird when the nearest sea is 50 miles away [19:43] very noisy outside as i walked home earlier. suggests rain [19:44] about 2m from sea [19:44] oh yeah https://photos.app.goo.gl/tqL6iLLYzif15Nf76 :)
