Roeyhello00:01
Roeyhmm, wrong channel :)00:02
HashtagCan some help me get a usb speaker working? It (mostly) wants to play audio from the internal system00:12
DragnslcrHashtag- check System Settings -> Hardware -> Multimedia00:53
DragnslcrThe Audio and Video tab should let you select devices00:54
IrcsomeBot1<Anarcho Taoist> In multimedia check both video & video and audio settings. I found changing preference order can help.00:55
HashtagDragnslcr: I must have a different version of KDE. There's no "hardware" in system settings. Or maybe it's because I don't have root01:55
HashtagThere is "sound system" and I can override device location to hw:1,001:57
=== himcesjf_ is now known as him-cesjf
HashtagBut that will only work when I click "test sound", not in any other programs as far as I can tell. And after a restart, it doesn't work at all01:57
HashtagIt's really weird. The volume knob on the usb speaker controls the internal speaker01:59
DragnslcrHashtag- what version of Kubuntu are you running?02:12
HashtagQt: 5.5.103:17
HashtagKDE Frameworks: 5.18.003:17
Hashtagkf5-config: 1.003:17
amichairHi, in Kubuntu 18.04 is there a configuration that would prevent an external USB mouse/keyboard from waking up a suspended laptop (with closed lid)?07:11
hateballwell it's possible your usb ports get suspended as well07:15
diogenes_maybe look in bios for option like wake on ...07:16
amichairhateball: I want to prevent wakeup from usb, not allow it07:17
amichairdiogenes_: oh didn't realize that's a bios thing, I'll look for it on next reboot07:18
amichairI vagely remember it was something in Linux power management07:18
hateballamichair: oh misunderstanding then :)07:22
amichairthe laptop is often connected to external mouse/keyboard/monitor, in which case it doesn't suspend properly (to be exact, suspend is ok, but any tiny desk/mouse movement brings it out of suspend, which is annoying)07:23

hegemon8hey there good people15:30
hegemon8... so... since i've added repository ppa:paulo-miguel-dias/mesa on my kubu 18.04.1 and rebooted my firefox won't run giving me: XPCOMGlueLoad error for file /usr/lib/firefox/libmozgtk.so:  libwayland-egl.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Couldn't load XPCOM.15:33
hegemon8i've purged the ppa, and so on, nope... not going back15:33
hegemon8perhaps anyone has any idea?15:34
acheronukhegemon8: install libwayland-egl1-mesa ?15:41
acheronukthat ppa dosn't proved that package, but the mesa in the main ubuntu archive does15:42
hegemon8will double check, but i think didn't see it in repo (Muon search)15:42
acheronukhegemon8: it's in the archive so you can just 'sudo apt install libwayland-egl1-mesa'15:42
hegemon8already in newest version15:43
hegemon8what did tempted me to add this ppa... :/15:43
hegemon8restarting after purging FF didn't help either15:44
hegemon8same errors no matter what i try, and googled a bit, tried some 'safer' ideas i've found...15:45
hegemon8added ppa for FF-next, as hoped newer will overwrite it... nope :/   I use FF sync, and well, i have other browser (Falkon) but all my passwords, bookmarks are there, so i'm quite bumped and kinda desperate to make it work15:46
acheronukthe shared lib is in there: https://packages.ubuntu.com/bionic-updates/amd64/libwayland-egl1-mesa/filelist15:48
hegemon8let me try that, thanks15:49
hegemon8well the lib supposed to be installed but that files are missing (libwayland-egl.so)15:54
hegemon8in /usr/bin...15:55
hegemon8will try reinstalling it... :/15:55
acheronukhegemon8: it's not in /usr/bin/15:55
hegemon8sorry, meant /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libwayland-egl.so.115:56
hegemon8Reinstallation of libwayland-egl1-mesa is not possible, it cannot be downloaded15:57
acheronuk2 secs15:58
hegemon8tyt, thanks for effort15:58
acheronuklooks like that package was previious published in the ppa, but is no longer15:59
hegemon8went trough my mind  to ask if upgrading to 18.10 would 'fix' it16:00
acheronukhegemon8: what does 'apt-cache policy libwayland-egl1-mesa' show?16:00
hegemon8as all steam games etc to redownload... would take a while...16:00
hegemon8libwayland-egl1-mesa:16:01
hegemon8  Installed: 1:18.2~git180612191500.3c288da~b~padoka016:01

hegemon8        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status16:01
acheronukhegemon8: unlikey an upgrade would fix it, as that ppa epoched it's packages16:01
acheronukhegemon8: there you go, you still have the ppa version installed16:01
acheronukppa-purge couldn't remove it as it's not technically published in the ppa any more16:02
hegemon8removed it by muon... alright... will try to google purging ppa16:02
hegemon8find command i mean :) (yeah, i'm pro ^^)16:02
acheronuktry 'sudo apt-get install libwayland-egl1-mesa=18.0.5-0ubuntu0~18.04.1'16:03
hegemon8removed ppa...same as adding, but with -- remove option, seems worked, now apt update i guess16:05
acheronukppa-purge is a different command16:06
acheronukhttp://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/bionic/man1/ppa-purge.1.html16:07
hegemon8haha,  removed ppa, with same command i've added with --remove option and pasted Your command to install libwayland, now just by habit clicked Your link, and it opened in Firefox :)16:09
hegemon8man You're the greatest !!!16:09
acheronukhegemon8: I've done my fair share of breaking Kubuntu! :P16:10
hegemon8hahaha, i still do, but when i have 1 browser and i break it, hard to google answers ;P16:11
hegemon8i don't mind reinstalling, it fixes all my stupid ideas, but then i've got most of my steam library downloaded this time (as went with kubuntu lts) so redownload that monster ...yeah... didn't wanted really :)16:13
hegemon8acheronuk: thanks so much for that, really16:13
acheronukno problem :)16:15
hegemon8man, it is really saving me a lot of hassle, so don't be so humble :) Thank You :)16:16
