hallynno more dovecot in bionic?01:41
tomreynhallyn: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/livecd-rootfs/+bug/178312901:45
ubottuLaunchpad bug 1783129 in livecd-rootfs (Ubuntu) "Only "main" component enabled after install" [High,In progress]01:45
tomreynhallyn: in other words: you are probably missing the 'universe' section in /etc/apt/sources.list01:48
hallyntomreyn: thanks - no i guess i hadn't updated the pkg archive corectly, i wasn't finding dovecot at all.  thought maybe it had been replaced :)  thx.01:48
hallynno i did have it,01:48
tomreynok01:48
hallyni dunno.  misread something.  haven't installed it since 14.04 so "it's been removed" seemed the logica conclusion :)01:49
tomreynyou can always check on https://packages.ubuntu.com01:49
hallynthough i don't see dovecot-postfix01:49
hallynbut that's ok i'm not there yet01:50
tomreyni dont know what dovecot-postfix is01:50
tomreynno such packages seems to exist (nor do i remember it existing in the past)01:50
hallynit's installed on my oler mailserver,01:51
hallyni assumed it was needed to support '-o smtpd_sasl_type=dovecot' in postfix, myabe not01:51
tomreyntherE's definitely an integration between the two, i forgot the details., but i think it's provided by one of the dovecot packages.01:52
hallynyeah i'll figure it out - probably changelog should be helpful.  thanks01:57
hallyni guess i'm supposed to use mail-stack-delivery02:17
hallynthis has the fingerprints of rbasak all over it doesn't it :)02:18
hallyn"Configuring postfix for mail-stack-delivery integration:"   oh good i love me some magic02:19
hallynoverwrote my ssl key info, but why?02:20
micha234hi05:23
micha234trying configure a serial-port connection to my linux server. so far i enabled serial in bios, enabled it in grub, dmesg|grep tty shows me the serial devices, also does stty/setserial, systemd spawned agetty process for ttyS0 via auto-configured serial-getty@ttyS0.service but every time i connect via serial cable no login prompt is visible. "outbound" serial connections to e.g. a switch work fine on the same system. do you ha05:24
micha234hey, anyone set up a serial-console setup to connect to his ubuntu server?07:15

HelenahHi, I've got a custom setup on an Ubuntu Server 18.04 consisting of i3wm, mate-session-manager, zsh, tmux, there is /usr/bin/automux, a custom /etc/adduser.conf, etc11:47
HelenahIt's in a qemu img, however I'm wanting to incorporate into a netinstall.11:47
leftyfbwhy do you need a GUI on a server?11:47
HelenahIt's not a server11:47
HelenahIt's intended to be a client install11:47
HelenahBut, Ubuntu Desktop forces Unity and a load of other crappy fancies11:48
leftyfbUbuntu 18.04 not longer installs Unity by default11:48
HelenahRly?11:48
HelenahNice11:48
leftyfbHelenah: regardless, you'll want to look into preseed11:49
andolHelenah: If you want something custom to be setup during a netinstall I think the easiest would be to have it applied by way of a configuration management tool.11:49
leftyfbor that11:49
leftyfblike ansible11:49
andolProbably both, with pressed handing over to the config mgmt otol.11:49
HelenahOkay, but there is something else I'm not happy with... mate-session-manager seems to depend on things like ubuntu-mate-default-settings11:50
HelenahI don't want any of this11:50
HelenahI don't it's not a requirement.11:51
HelenahIt just seems when install things with APT, I get non-required bloatware on top claiming it's required.11:51
andolHelenah: Configured apt to not install Recommends by default? No idea if it helps in the mate case, but in general it cuts down the number of automated installed packages quite a lot.11:53
andolAPT::Install-Recommends "false";11:53
HelenahOkay thanks11:53
Helenahandol: One guide recommends to combine kickseed and preseed to get the best of two worlds.12:01
Helenahandol, leftyfb, Btw, I am really sorry if asking about this in a server channel is inappropriate. With me using server images, I intend to use for clients, not servers, I really didn't know where to ask... o.o12:08
HelenahI got the idea, that this channel is more appropriate based on the fact I'm using server images.12:08
andolHelenah: Mostly work with virtual infra these days, so I really don't have much of a qualifed opinion when it comes to kickstart, kickseed or pressed.12:08
Helenahpressed?12:09
andols/pressed/pressed/12:09
andolBah12:09
HelenahAaah I know what you mean12:09
andols/pressed/preseed/12:09
Helenahpreseed12:09
HelenahOkay, so I got 3 options, I'll give em a whirl12:09
HelenahThanks once again for your support12:10
Helenahandol: I do a like of virtual infrastructure too.12:10
Helenahs/like/lot12:10
HelenahI'm sure you knew what I meant too, but just incase... heh12:10
Helenahand I'm thinking, these options would be good for deploying VMs and physical servers, too, not just clients.12:11
andolFor VMs I'd just prebuild the basics using something like Packer, and possibly hand over the customization to the config mgmt tool.12:13
micha234hey there, i am failing to get a terminal prompt with agetty/mgetty via serial port. any ideas for troubleshooting?16:17
rypervencheCould someone test something for me? I'm not able to hear audio on forvo.com for some reason in qutebrowser. I'm trying to figure out if it's on my end or in qutebrowser. Could someone go to https://forvo.com/search/egipto/ and click on one of the triangles to see if it plays audio or if it just hangs?16:17
rypervencheOops, sorry wrong channel.16:21
tewardrbasak: powersj: sarnold: cpaelzer: I'm going to push NGINX Mainline plus the fix for https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nginx/+bug/https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nginx/+bug/1782226 into Cosmic, we'll track NGINX mainline at least for 18.10 and 19.04 until the 1.16.x release of NGINX Stable in April, and then switch to that in 19.10 before LTS.  At that time we can determine whether we need to trakc Mainline or Stable for16:25
teward20.04 LTS (depending on when NGINX Stable releases in 2020.16:25
ubottuLaunchpad bug 1782226 in nginx (Ubuntu Cosmic) "Allow NGINX to install but not start during postinst if another process is bound to port 80" [Wishlist,In progress]16:25
=== pleia2_ is now known as pleia2
tewardtrying to get this in before FeatureFreeze, becasue that port 80 issue has opened up too many bugs in the past and it's annoying me (and probably other triagers to some extent)16:25
tewardsince i heard no complaints from anyone about that proposal i made over a week ago.16:26
tewardthat way though we can guarantee we'll be on a 'stable' branch by next LTS.16:26
tewardFYI for the server team: NGINX 1.15.2-0ubuntu1 has been uploaded, it contains the NGINX Mainline latest version and the fix for the port 80 in use detection17:39
