danieru98hello, i've configured pulseaudio to use a unix socket, that part works perfectly, problem is when i configure the client to connect to that unix socket by default (by adding default-server to /etc/pulse/client.conf) it makes the pulseaudio deamon not auto start01:20
wxldanieru98: strange use case. might want to get more eyes on it. go to #ubuntu. it's not a lubuntu specific issue anyways01:21
wxl(shouldn't be)01:21
danieru98wxl, you're right, i'll comment that part on #ubuntu, but theres another issue that it defently lubuntu only related01:22
danieru98since pulseaudio no longer autostart01:22
danieru98that makes the audio applet on lxpanel crash for some reason01:22
danieru98and that manages to crash the whole lxpanel01:23
wxlwell that's strange but not entirely surprising01:23
wxlif you had a bicycle with no wheels, it would crash too :)01:23
danieru98i can see why the applet would crash, strange thing is that when this was an alsa only system, that didn't happen01:24
danieru98but at any rate the development of lxde is dead now so maybe i shouldn't bother making a bug report01:24
wxlyou're welcome to file a bug and we can look at it, but i can tell you right now it will go into the low priority bin01:24
wxlit's not dead. it's just slow.01:25
wxli heard they finally got gtk3 sorted out01:25
danieru98yes, having the development focus on lxqt01:25
wxlwell, not exactly. lots of the lxde folks are still only doing lxde. lxqt is mostly newer/differnt people01:25
danieru98hmm, do you think next lubuntu 18.10 will also have lxde? because then that would make filling a bug report wort it01:27
wxlno way01:27
wxlbut lxde will still be around and someone will still be maintaining it01:27
wxlnot to mention the fact that we'll still be supporting releases that are still supported01:28
danieru98true, lubuntu 18.04 still has another 4 years01:29
danieru98ill file a bug report later01:29
danieru98im glad to know its definitely lxqt from now on and for the next lts, it provees lxqt is finally ready for broad use01:30
wxlyep we're working hard on it. you should try out a daily and report any bugs you find!01:30
danieru98great! i will as soon as i get some free time, haven't tried lubuntu with lxqt in some time, im excited to see how much has matured :D01:38
wxla LOT01:38
lubot5<tsimonq2> +101:38
wxllike it installs now with relative ease XD01:38
wxlyou should hang out at #lubuntu-devel01:38
wxland watch lubuntu-devel@lists.ubuntu.com01:38
wxlmaybe watch the activity at phab.lubuntu.me01:38
danieru98sure, im really interested in stable, simple to use and lighweight distros01:40
danieru98specially lightweight now that my cpu just turned 10 years old01:41
danieru98but it works even on an old pentium 4 i have at work, well except for the audio, probably an alsa or pulseaudio issue with the old sound card, used to work with ubuntu 10.0401:42
lubot5<tsimonq2> We don't have a particular focus on lightweight anymore but it should still work.01:43
wxlwe're not against lightweight01:43
lubot5<tsimonq2> Right.01:43
wxllightweight that doesn't disable valuable features is probably the best way to look at it01:43
lubot5<tsimonq2> And I agree in that.01:43
danieru98yes i read you recently redefined what lightweight means to lubuntu01:44
wxlre: that, @tsimonq2 you should check my comment about deepin. we need to figure out what they did. memory enhancements and low power usage is the kind of lightweight we need to pay attention to.01:44
danieru98more or less support for up to 10 year old computers, instead of 20, like old pentiums 401:44
