eylulHey Eickmeyer17:20
Eickmeyereylul: Hey!17:26
eylulworking on pdf17:30
eylulnot done.17:30
eylul:) we need a better system for this next time ;) but that's pretty much my only update17:30
eyluljust wanted to drop it now. I hope all is well?17:31
* OvenWerks has been playing with a huion tablet. It seems the kernel uclogic module is not being kept up...17:37
OvenWerksThe tablet does not work without adding the new uclogic even on 18.04. The module web page says this tablet (610pro) has been in the kernel since 3.17 or so, but obviously not.17:40
OvenWerksThis same driver covers 4 or 5 kinds of tablets, not just huion ... probably all of them that are no wacom, so I think it makes sense to make getting and installing the new module real easy.17:42
eylulOvenwerks: do you think you could document this as you go along?17:44
eylullike step by step as you do them, what you tried17:44
eylulwhat worked. what didn't what was the issue17:44
OvenWerksI would like to do better than that17:44
eylulso that we have detailed notes. if it won't be too much trouble.17:44
eyluloh well if you can actually find time to fix it its even better. but we are already piling a lot of work on you :)17:45
OvenWerksThere is a *.deb package available from the github site.17:45
eylulah17:45
OvenWerksIt is not in debian though17:45
OvenWerks (or ubuntu)17:45
eylulwe can probably make a case for it getting into ubuntu even if we cannot to debian17:46
OvenWerksThey claim to be submitting patches to kernel upstream17:46
eyluloh17:46
OvenWerksThe current uclogic module was written by the same people, I am just not sure how far along this stuff is.17:47
OvenWerksI am even wondering if a change to udev rules would help17:49
EickmeyerYeah, I really haven't touched anything on my plate in the past two weeks. This is what happens when your only co-worker in your department gets married and goes on his honeymoon.18:02
eylulo.O18:05
EickmeyerYeah. I think I bit-off more than I could chew with Plasma at the moment. I'm sure you saw the email.18:08
OvenWerksEickmeyer: I don't think it was ever the intent to release US-plasma this round... a spun iso would be nice though, even if we don't release it.18:09
EickmeyerYeah. Good point.18:13
OvenWerksEickmeyer: so there are no freeze dates this cycle.18:13
OvenWerks(for the plasma iso) as we are working on it for 1704 already.18:14
OvenWerks*190418:14
EickmeyerSo, does that mean we can get things into the repos up to release date for 18.10?18:14
OvenWerksnothing that affects any project that will release.18:15
OvenWerks But seeds and metas that only affect plasma we should be able to18:15
OvenWerksOf course we would have to explain this each time we asked for something to be uploaded :)18:16
EickmeyerOkay, that clears things up.18:18
EickmeyerSo, since you're both here, do we want to start our meeting in 35 minutes?18:25
OvenWerksmaybe even four of us18:26
EickmeyerYeah, perhaps.18:26
OvenWerksre mypaint and picopixel: there is not "permanent" :) but whatever is there at release is there for this cycle.18:28
OvenWerksSo whatever is working at time of freeze should be what we run with this cycle.18:30
EickmeyerOkay, that's good to know. I highly doubt MyPaint will be releasing anything based on their github development. It's glacially slow.18:31
OvenWerkskind of like lmms...18:34
EickmeyerYeah, but lmms isn't conflicting with anything. My problem with lmms is the lack of lv2 support.18:34
OvenWerksI am told that git is a ways beyond release.18:35
Eickmeyerre: mypaint or lmms?18:36
OvenWerksI don't find lmms useful at all, but there are a lot of people who like to workthat way18:37
OvenWerkslmms, there have been a lot of "internal releases"18:37
OvenWerksnot fit for public?18:37
EickmeyerMust be.18:37
OvenWerksThere are a lot of people who have submitted patches/fixes who are frustrated because they have been added but there is no release they can use.18:38
OvenWerksI guess I could say the same about Ardour at this point :)18:40
EickmeyerWell, that's the problem I've been running into with Calf. There are releases, but getting them upstream to Debian and then synced to Ubuntu is a pain in the neck.18:42
* OvenWerks wonders which Calf plugin can't be replaced :)18:43
EickmeyerWell, here's the thing: the only reason Ardour has problems with Calf is because the calf-ladspa plugins are depricated and Debian has been refusing to remove it from their repos because of the lmms people. So, to work around that, Calf have decided to make them non-coinstallable since coinstalling the LV2 and Ladspa versions creates the conflict that causes Ardour to crash.18:45
EickmeyerMany of those bugs are fixed in 0.90.1 which is what I've been trying to push upstream.18:46
tsimonq2Eickmeyer: How is it a pain in the neck? :)18:46
OvenWerksthere are other issues. Like the odd time the reverb puts out +1000 db peaks. None of the fixes deal with this.18:47
EickmeyerWhere's the bug report on that? I haven't ever experienced it myself.18:47
EickmeyerAlso, the release in November was a major release, so it may have been corrected with that. The one we have in our repos is over 3 years old and is very buggy.18:48
OvenWerksEickmeyer: when calf moved from sourceforge to where they are now, they did not import the old issues.18:48
EickmeyerHave you tried 0.90.x?18:48
OvenWerksI personally have not, I do know some people who do though. but never mind, lots of people like the GUIs and when they work they are ok. animating levels is another problem area.18:50
OvenWerksMost people don't do that though.18:50
OvenWerkss/animating/automating/18:50
EickmeyerWell, a lot changed between 0.60.x and 0.90.1, and the fact that it isn't getting pushed upstream is infuriating and causing these opinions and lack of bug reports against them. Can't get eyes on stuff they don't know even exists.18:51
OvenWerksgetting the latest out would be good yes.18:52
EickmeyerI guess I'm frusterated because it wasn't this way with Fedora, but that's probably because they /are/ the upstream.18:53
EickmeyerAlso, having to write MPs when I don't even know how or where.18:55
Eickmeyer#startmeeting19:00

EickmeyerWell, let's get started with documenting this.19:00
Eickmeyereylul: You said PDF is nowhere?19:00
Eickmeyer#topic Audio Handbook19:00
OvenWerksmaybe paste from the back scroll...19:02
Eickmeyer<eylul> working on pdf19:03
Eickmeyer<eylul> not done.19:03
Eickmeyer<eylul> :) we need a better system for this next time ;) but that's pretty much my only update19:03
EickmeyerIf there was only a way to change the page source of the markdown directly to HTML for printing or something.19:03
EickmeyerUnfortunately, that wiki engine's markdown isn't exactly standard.19:04
EickmeyerAnything to add? Anybody?19:04
EickmeyerOkay, moving on...19:05
Eickmeyer#topic ubuntustudio-plasma19:05
EickmeyerPretty sure this is on hold until we've got an iso spun.19:06
OvenWerksyes19:06
EickmeyerOkay.19:06
OvenWerks While it would be possible to add more there is no way of testing it.19:06
Eickmeyer#info On hold until iso can be spun from a seed19:06
EickmeyerOkay. Moving on...19:07
Eickmeyer#topic website19:07
EickmeyerI've got nothing to report on this. Life has been getting in the way, and since we have a working website now, it's not a huge priority. I'd rather spend energy on other things like packaging.19:08
Eickmeyer#topic Packaging19:09
EickmeyerI really want to get Cadence done in time for 18.10 for Catia alone. I fear I might not get -welcome or -boutique done.19:09
OvenWerksthat sounds reasonable19:10
EickmeyerYeah. Patchage needs to be dropped, but we can't do that without a suitable replacement like Catia.19:11
OvenWerkswelcome/boutique are longterm objuctives I think19:11
EickmeyerAgreed.19:11
Eickmeyer#agreed Welcome and Boutique are long term objectives19:11
EickmeyerDefinitely something for 20.04 at the latest.19:12
OvenWerksright19:12
EickmeyerAnyhow...19:12
OvenWerkshopefully testing before then.19:12

EickmeyerOkay, this one wasn't on the email, but I need to figure out what everyone is working on.19:17
EickmeyerOvenWerks: I'm guessing you're whittling away at Plasma?19:17
Eickmeyer#subtopic Current Assignments19:18
OvenWerksno waiting for an iso on that. Looking at adding tablets setup to controls.19:18

Eickmeyercaptain-tux: Do you have anything you're working on?19:19
Eickmeyereylul: Same19:19
EickmeyerRather, same question. I know you're working on the PDF. I have an idea that might help, but we'll see.19:20
Eickmeyer#action Eickmeyer still working on Cadence, -welcome, -boutique.19:20
meetingologyACTION: Eickmeyer still working on Cadence, -welcome, -boutique.19:20
captain-tuxNot specifically, I've had a look at Mastodon, but have been a little stressed out the last weeks, so I haven't had time for anything else..19:21
Eickmeyercaptain-tux: Understood.19:21
EickmeyerAt least you're participating. :)19:21
captain-tuxThat was nice. :D19:21
EickmeyerWhich brings us to our most difficult topic, one that I've been avoiding, but it needs to come up.19:22
Eickmeyerkrytarik: What does your current contribution to Ubuntu Studio look like these days?19:22
krytarikNil.19:22
krytarikWell, except from handling the mailing lists, of course.19:23
EickmeyerWell, that's something. However, I'm kindof noticing a pattern here, and other than that, I'm not any contribution, and this is the most I've seen you participate in these meetings.19:24
Eickmeyer*I'm not seeing any contribution19:24
krytarikSo what?19:24
EickmeyerThe difficult question: Are you interested in being on this team still? I'm honestly just concerned.19:25
krytarikI'm still willing to fill the posts I've got, yes.19:25
EickmeyerBy that you mean managing the mailing list and this IRC channel?19:26
krytarikPretty much, yes.19:26
EickmeyerI see no problem with that. :)19:26
Eickmeyer#action krytarik to reamain IRC channel admin and Mailing List admin.19:27
meetingologyACTION: krytarik to reamain IRC channel admin and Mailing List admin.19:27
EickmeyerI just want to make sure we're moving forward and nothing is holding us back. I realize we've had a lot of burnout over the years, and if that means taking a break from stuff, then so be it.19:28
EickmeyerHonestly, I'm getting burnt--out on a lot of the buraucracy I'm seeing since I'm having to learn how to do stuff by doing it wrong, being corrected, then doing it right.19:29
EickmeyerBut, that's just how I feel.19:30
EickmeyerStill plowing forward.19:30
OvenWerksyou are doing well... I normally do things wrong several times first19:30
EickmeyerI guess the issue is the bottleneck at the MOTU and Debian levels. I need to apply for membership and MOTU in order to get this ship out of drydock and sailing.19:31
EickmeyerAnyhow, that's all I've got.19:31
EickmeyerAnybody have anything else for the meeting?19:32
OvenWerksI have nothing more.19:32
EickmeyerCool.19:32
EickmeyerMotion to end meeting?19:32
OvenWerksso moved19:33

EickmeyerI'll get the minutes out sometime in the next couple days. Like I said, things are busy.19:33
EickmeyerI think 33 minutes is a new record for us.19:33
captain-tuxNo. Just thanks for managing everything around here! 19:33
EickmeyerThanks, captain-tux! I'm doing my best. We have a great team, and my vision is to make sure we're moving forward and nothing and nobody is holding us back.19:34
