glith | I installed lubuntu on my laptop but for some reason i cant get audo to work. Ive tried uninstalling and installing again pulseaudio, I've also tried several commands I've found in different forums such as "pulseaudio -D" and "systemctl --user enable pulseaudio && systemctl --user start pulseaudio" but none of them worked. I have a Intel atom x5-z8350 proccessor on my laptop and I'm using the latest release of lubuntu 64 bit. | 10:01 |

ISSE8 | hello | 18:23 |
ISSE8 | I have a problem booting to EFI screen | 18:23 |
wxl | could you elaborate more? | 18:24 |
ISSE8 | yes, picture in first post: https://www.linuxliteos.com/forums/other/startup-nsh-uefi-in-oracle-virtualbox-v-5-what-do-i-do-next/ | 18:27 |
ISSE8 | in the past I managed to start the GUI manually, but forgot what I did | 18:29 |
wxl | that's what you're trying to get to? | 18:30 |
ISSE8 | the machine does not boot properly | 18:30 |
ISSE8 | rebooted from lubuntu and it booted to this screen | 18:31 |
ISSE8 | all I want is to use my machine | 18:31 |
wxl | did you check the hashes of the image? | 18:31 |
ISSE8 | it is not a new install | 18:31 |
ISSE8 | I have rebooted it from a running lubuntu 15minutes ago | 18:32 |
wxl | then if it worked before but now doesn't, that's pretty strange | 18:32 |
ISSE8 | well yes | 18:35 |
ISSE8 | it is | 18:35 |
ISSE8 | can you remember how to start GUI manually? | 18:35 |
ISSE8 | I googled but no dice | 18:35 |
wxl | https://askubuntu.com/questions/566315/virtualbox-boots-only-in-uefi-interactive-shell#573672 maybe | 18:39 |
wxl | you didn't switch this from non-EFI to EFI did you? | 18:40 |
ISSE8 | not me | 18:42 |
ISSE8 | how do you do that? | 18:42 |
wxl | you don't want to. doing that would likely cause the problem. | 18:43 |
wxl | i'm referring to the guest settings in virtualbox under system. you could always try toggling it and see what happens. | 18:43 |
ISSE8 | ok, sorry, forget the original picture, this is my actual screen: https://imgur.com/qsRvOwk | 18:44 |
ISSE8 | admin | 18:44 |
ISSE8 | I just booted the non-EFI thing in bios and it worked?! | 18:45 |
wxl | yeah you probably toggled it before by accident | 18:46 |
wxl | go slap yourself on the hand for presenting the pebkac :) | 18:46 |
ISSE8 | pebkac???? | 18:47 |
ISSE8 | was not in bios anyway?? | 18:48 |
ISSE8 | admin | 18:48 |
wxl | pebkac = problem exists between keyboard and chair | 18:48 |
ISSE8 | let me kill the power, maybe the bios resets? | 18:48 |
ISSE8 | no, still working | 18:50 |
wxl | i had little hope that it would change itself :) | 18:51 |
ISSE8 | mee to | 18:51 |
ISSE8 | cause now I'm still somehow a moron :/ | 18:51 |
wxl | you're not a moron :) | 18:52 |
ISSE8 | you did not have enough time to trully know me | 18:53 |
ISSE8 | :) | 18:53 |
wxl | true enough | 18:54 |
ISSE8 | well, you did save the day, so thanks! | 18:54 |
ISSE8 | ok, wxl, love and kisses then | 18:58 |
ISSE8 | since you wont give me any :) | 18:58 |
