[00:21] tearing on games or the reg desktop as well? [00:22] Marissa0: tearing on games [00:22] Marissa0: and on desktop, sorry [00:23] i turn vsync off so i can go above 60fps and i get some minor tearing. What gpu do you have? [00:23] Marissa0: I have a Quadro M1000M [00:28] which driver are you using? [00:28] Marissa0: Proprietary [00:28] good evening, my xubuntu 18.04 was able to print to my Brother MFC-L2750DW until recent update. Anyone, knows how to resolve this issue? [00:29] alexandros_c: Howdy, guess you're back and things aren't fixed.. :/ [00:29] no [00:29] actually I never left [00:30] hi Unit193 [00:30] 390 or 396 series? [00:31] Marissa0: 390.48 [00:32] Unit193, I think cups might be broken [00:32] the most recent in the 390 series is 390.87. Try switching over to the short lived series (396.54) for giggles and see what happens. [00:32] I've got a Brother HL-L2340D on Bionic. [00:32] alexandros_c: Have you checked the logs? [00:33] is this a network printer, wireless, usb? [00:33] Marissa0: I have vsync on, should it be off?? [00:34] no I have not but if a it was working and now it is not after an update it sound like the update to me [00:34] but hold on let me check [00:34] Marissa0: On in nVidia preferences and in my compositor (Compton) [00:35] vsync should help but you can insert __GL_SYNC_TO_VBLANK=0 before your game binary in term to turn vsync off. I doubt its going to do anything though [00:38] Marissa0: Alright, i'll try the new driver [00:47] Unit193, I don't see anything in the log, what am I looking for exactly [00:48] Wasn't thinking of something exactly, but anything that looked off. [00:49] Unit193, is there a command to see just cups log in systemd? [00:50] alexandros_c: Heh, I was thinking of /var/log/cups/, but yeah you can use -u unitname. [00:54] Unit193, their is nothing out of the ordinary except for an error '/hpfax(1821): (1821): error: failed to to create /var/spool/cups/tmp/.hplip' [00:55] Permissions on that tmp dir are root:Lp, yeah? [00:58] Unit193, you are correct [01:02] Unit193, I sent a test page but it just sits in the queue with a status of processing and the is no errors in the log [01:02] Display screen on the printer say anything? [01:02] no [01:04] ubot9, also the error mentioned above just started happening and occurs right after starting the cups scheduler [01:05] drwxrwx--T 2 root lp 4.0K Aug 30 16:38 tmp niice. [01:07] yes mines is close to that [01:20] Unit193, it stomp you too? [01:21] Well, can't think of anything off the top of my head. [01:23] well thanks for your help === brainwash_ is now known as brainwash === rud0lf is now known as police === police is now known as rud0lf [07:31] how figure out which gmt is used [07:31] +0 seems to change region [07:51] Which gmt? You mean Greenwich Mean Time? [07:55] in that case, right-click the clock you (presumably) have on the top right on your panel, click Properties, and click Time and Date settings [08:03] MarissaO: yes [08:07] MarissaO: how can I tell if I wake up in a dream? [08:07] the time looks accurate, I was looking to change it [08:07] at some time it was not accurate [08:09] MarissaO: what is the best place to buy custom t-shirt prints? [08:14] No idea Leo, but keep on looking :) [08:24] MarissaO: how does this sound "we are going to show the various cameras we have an unauthorized unity by wearing t-shirts like uniforms"? [08:34] Did you take your haldol today Leo? [08:35] not mine, I don't take [08:36] is that some sort of psychatric threat for organizing men to move in public wearing non-government uniforms? [08:36] start with 50mg for two weeks then go up to 100 [08:36] I did ask what you think of the scenario of wearing custom print tshirts. [08:37] Now you are offering dope commands? [08:37] Seems such an unlinked threat. [08:37] leosemilie: Hello, this is the Xubuntu support channel, do you have a support question related to Xubuntu? [08:38] Unit193: do you have a grinder for MarissaO to grind pills into kids cereal milk? [08:39] MarissaO: grind it into a powder, start with a spoonful [08:39] leosemilie: That's not an Xubuntu support question. Do you have a support question? [08:40] forget the name MarissaO use colors, blue, yellow, etc. if you choose tell yourself it is all scientific and wave a pamphlet with fine print likely including warnings about lethality [08:43] hence any mention of it is nearly an advance to death threat [08:43] but a command [08:43] take 50mg death powder [11:38] Hello [11:40] Desktop icons still rearange on login in xubuntu 18.04 :) [12:33] for you - for me they are in the same order every time ... [12:36] flocculant Do you have a workaround? [12:41] I don't have any problems with it - it just does it [12:42] Interesting [12:43] it is a new install - not upgraded [12:44] I upgraded right after install [12:45] misko_2083: you could try clearing .config/xfce4/desktop, or cutting them to somewhere else - then set desktop 'things'up where you want them and see what happens [12:45] I meant upgfrade from 16.04 or 17.10 [12:48] OK, most of them are not moving after I made a script to autostart. The script cleans all but the last rc file in $HOME/.config/xfce4/desktop/ every time the rc file is created. [12:49] Home, File system and Trash still move [12:49] but I think they are managed by xfconf [12:49] wouldn't know if they move - never ever have things like that on Desktop here [12:50] misko_2083, try to change the size of the icons [12:57] Hmm, they seem to stay unless the panel is resized and then logged out. The icon position doesn't get saved if the _NET_WORKAREA root window property changes. Then rc file isn't created and that resets the icons on logout/login [12:58] diogenes I must always move at least one icon to trigger the rc file creation for the icons to stay [12:59] so that's a bug - report it with what information you've found I would say.
