[10:08] ricotz: I did finally get 410.57 working. The libglxserver_nvidia file just had to be in the right place and symlinked correctly. Sadly, the fact that this is the only GLX server implementation provided means that currently the driver will only work on Cosmic, since server GLVND was only added in xserver 1.20. [10:09] doesn't explain how phoronix got it working, and the docs would probably yell loudly if it supported only 1.20 and up [10:09] so maybe the old libglx.so got merged into something [10:30] I find that suspect as well, but I can find anything in the documentation about it and just symlinking libglxserver_nvidia.so to libglx.so results in everything hanging, so until I have more information, I do not know how to proceed. [10:30] what does the installer do? [10:32] you can check that in the .manifest file of the installer [10:35] It puts the file and the symlink both in the /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/ directory, the same way https://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86_64/410.57/README/installedcomponents.html describes. [10:36] so I think the driver has some trickery to load that on < 1.20
