In the installer if I select erase 'Erase Ubuntu and install' will that take care of using the same home and swap positions or do I have to manually do that with the ' else' option. I really don't want it to write my /home. [12:45] I mean wipe my /home [12:49] hello ddoobb, you have to do it manually [12:49] don't use 'Erase' option [17:00] Hey guys just installed Ubuntu. I can't seem to find how to see the default wallpapers. It's using the same wallpaper from my xfce+ubuntu setup I replaced it with [17:00] Sorry I mean just installed Xubuntu [17:01] Settings manager just show an option to select a folder of images [17:15] Any help? [17:16] ddoobb: right clicking in the desktop does nothing? [17:16] if you are using ubuntu instead of xubuntu maybe their main channel will be more helpful [17:16] but i'd check if you have the ubuntu-artwork package installed [17:18] GridCube this is a fresh install of Xubuntu [17:18] https://i.imgur.com/SPD6Kwo.png [17:21] then xubuntu-artwork [17:21] also it should be on desktop settings [17:25] GridCube it's not there [17:25] http://i.imgur.com/WaEnKAu.png [17:25] ... [17:26] it's literally there? [17:26] i have no idea what you want to achieve [17:26] These are not the defaults are they [17:26] I want to see the default wallpapers [17:27] no, you are looking at the desktop directory [17:27] Which directory should I look at? [17:28] the default directory of the desktop images is /usr/share/xfce4/backdrops [17:28] if you want to add images to that list you have to add them to ~/.local/share/xfce4/backdrops instead [17:29] never directly to the /usr/ directory [17:29] Thanks that's what I wanted! [18:34] Have a nice day GridCube [22:39] thanks to help from in here my desktop is getting much better [22:41] i am about to try a cmd i found to fix the brightness/immmer not working, if it work ill tell you [22:41] dimmer* [22:52] this command is supposed to fix mt problem but i didnt work can someone read this and see if we cand modify it a bit to work: xfconf-query -c xfce4-power-manager -p /xfce4-power-manager/handle-brightness -keys --create -t bool -s true [22:52] Option parsing failed: Unknown option -keys. [23:06] UBuxuBU: can't you toggle that setting via the power manager settings GUI? [23:06] it's probably handle-brightness-keys [23:06] without the space [23:08] i tried that 1st [23:09] it appears the brightness keys were simply disabled in xfce4 power management config [23:10] the controls pull up properly even my fn key pu;;s u the brightness widget it just cant work [23:10] pulls* [23:11] so thiw guy discover it simly turned off by the devs in the Os [23:11] all i gotta do is turn it back on [23:11] this command worked for him [23:11] in xubuntu 18 04
