[08:29] hello! I was wondering if there was an easy way to change my color to full spectrum like there is in plain Ubuntu? [14:54] hello? [14:54] Guys I'm having a really weird issue with a fresh install [14:55] Hi Tomhayes! [14:55] What's happening? [14:55] (I might have to ditch in a little while) [14:56] SO basically, after installing... I just get a default xfce environment when I log in [14:56] 18.04? 18.10? [14:56] and there's no option for a Ubuntu Studio Session... just says "xfce session" in the dropdown thingy [14:56] 18.10 [14:56] but I have tried both [14:56] That's definitely odd. [14:57] Ubuntu Studio Session should be showing up there. I'm at a loss at this point. [14:58] OvenWerks: If you're around, Tomhayes came from Facebook with this weird issue where our theming is not showing up in a clean install. Any ideas? [14:58] Did we just discuss this in the FB group? [14:58] ah yes haha [14:59] Tomhayes: You might have to wait around for a little while. :/ [15:00] ok no problem :) [15:00] can I share images in here or do I need to upload elsewhere? [15:00] By little while, I mean, *ahem* a few hours. [15:00] You can upload to imgur and link them here, no problem. [15:03] https://imgur.com/a/EraXTLz [15:03] this is where it should appear, right? [15:03] in top right? [15:04] Yep, that's right. Something might be wrong with your ISO download. [15:05] Just seems like it's not installing all the way. [15:07] hmm, weird. I tried 18.04 and 18.10 so used 2 isos.... also tried 2 USB sticks! [15:07] Something is failing partway through install for you for some reason. That's all I've got. :/ [15:07] hmm really odd... thanks [15:09] I'm creating install media on a mac using etcher... is that likely to be a problem? [15:10] That actually might be a problem. [15:10] And, the cause. [15:10] hmmm odd, I'll try something else with a new ISO too [15:10] whats the best thing to use? [15:11] Hmm... interestingly enough, our official tutorial uses etcher. [15:12] oh haha [15:12] https://tutorials.ubuntu.com/tutorial/tutorial-create-a-usb-stick-on-macos#0 [15:12] I have to go now. Gotta get the son to school. [15:13] if you choose the xfce session first It may set different backgrounds and other things. Then the studio session will just use those settings. So logout to the login screen hit ctl-alt-F1 and login there. [15:13] ok thanks for your help! [15:13] then do rm -r .config [15:13] oooh ok I will try that... [15:13] then logout and login with the studio session [15:14] that should reset things. [15:14] I had always wanted to remove the xfce option... [15:14] But I don't see the Studio session... there's nothing to reset I havent even logged in yet... is that an issue? [15:14] there is only an xfce option [15:15] Thats wierd, hoow did you install? [15:15] from USB stick [15:15] using ubuntustudio iso? 18.10 or 18.04? [15:16] yeah iso, have tried 18.10 and 18.04 [15:17] Thats odd. [15:18] yeah very! [15:18] does the menu (whisker I think) show Audio/graphis and video production? [15:18] as in the xfce menu? [15:18] yes [15:18] yeah [15:19] ok, so that much is right [15:19] there's not some sort of graphics card requirement for the desktop environment that would not be showing bwecause the drivers are missing or somethign is there? [15:19] that would stop it displaying... [15:20] I'm just spitballing here I really have no clue haha [15:21] in a terminal ls /usr/share/xsessions/ should show two files [15:21] one for ubuntustudio and the other for xfce [15:22] no I just have xfce.desktop [15:23] that sounds like an incomplete install then [15:23] hmm ok thanks [15:23] how did you put the iso on the usb stick? [15:24] did you check the iso check sum? [15:24] I used etcher [15:25] I don't know etcher at all so I can't comment. I use dd [15:25] havent checked the checksum... I will do [15:25] will try with dd then :) [15:28] zsync will check the check sum and only redownload parts of thge iso that don't match [15:29] ah right, thanks I'll look into that [17:53] checksums matched up so I used DD to make the USB and just installing now... fingers crossed! [17:57] stil only have xfce as an option... wtf [17:57] this is weird
