valorieunfortunately nvidia hasn't been playing nice with KDE for awhile00:15
valorierecently they have changed their stance so I hope for better00:15

valoriethere are a few ways to hibernate00:20
valoriehow many have you tried?00:20
valoriethe built-in way doesn't work for me00:20
valorieat least in my travel laptop, and that isn't nvidia00:21
valoriehowever, right-clicking to hibernate does00:21

mattflyon the ssd00:36
IrcsomeBot<Anarchotaoist> @valorie, OK, so it is a bug at thus point?  Info? What in particular? I will have to post in a few hours time, sorry! Busy at work now. Thanks01:27
valorie@Anarchotaoist I was at dinner -- just comment on the bug report as I did02:40
IrcsomeBot<biki28> @Bek_dag, Screen freezing at anytime and flickering kubuntu logo on start up02:46
IrcsomeBot<biki28> Help anyone02:46
IrcsomeBot<Duong Ngo> @mparillo_, Yeah, I try to make the problem happens again but I failed. The second time when I open Update window and click "Update all" immediately, the Update tool just works fine. But today when I receive new updates, I do it again then the problem appears. So you can wait for the future update and try. I think it will be better that the "Update all" button shouldn't be shown when thing isn't ready. Though it's not a big problem,04:46
IrcsomeBotI hope Kubuntu team will fix it to improve the stability.04:46
valorie@Duong Ngo - the Kubuntu team packages KDE software; we don't write it06:31
valoriethat said, our devels are active in the KDE community as well, and sometimes can do fixes06:31
valorieNate Graham in particular has been making Discover hugely better06:32
scalrHi, all. I recently changed my computer username to something else via these instructions: https://askubuntu.com/questions/34074/how-do-i-change-my-username06:47
scalrHowever, now my Kubuntu 18.04 installation acts slightly funny in some regards. In particular, my WiFi networks were all forgotten.06:48
scalrHow exactly would one recover the old keyring?06:48
valoriedid you follow those instructions to the letter?06:49
scalrYes06:50
valoriebecause if you change the owner of your $HOME that should work06:50
valoriedid you kill the running processes as it says?06:50
valoriebecause those would be linked to your old username06:50
scalrI actually didn't do so, since I wasn't logged in. I think I will try that really quick. One moment.06:51
scalrI'll be back in a moment06:52
lordievaderGood morning06:57
valoriehi lordievader06:58
lordievaderHey valorie06:58
lordievaderHow are you doing?06:58
scalrAlright, I'm back. Just as I thought, no processes from the previously used username are present (since I followed the process using a root terminal in recovery mode)06:59
scalrThe other goofy things my Kubuntu seems to be doing is that the brightness buttons no longer work06:59
valoriesorry scalr, about to leave IRC and go to bed07:02
valoriemight be best to restate your question and the guide you are following07:02
valoriebest of luck07:02
valorielordievader: doing well, and I hope you are too!07:03
valoriehave a great day07:03
lordievaderDoing good here :)07:03
scalrRestating: I tried to change my Kubuntu username to something else using the following guide: https://askubuntu.com/questions/34074/how-do-i-change-my-username07:06
scalrHowever, some things in my Kubuntu installation have broken. For one, my keychain seems to have been erased, which means things like my WiFi networks were all forgotten. Secondly, some other things like my brightness buttons also broke in the process.07:06
hateballoh they left07:16
hateballstill plenty of things in KDE/Plasma that has hardcoded username in config files, that might need to be grep/sed'd as wlel07:17
hateballscalr: still plenty of things in KDE/Plasma that has hardcoded username in config files, that might need to be grep/sed'd as wlel07:17
hateballso even if you are the owner of a file, if the config itself expects some path like /home/oldusername/blahblah, well then you'll have a bad time07:18
scalrIndeed I see that when I open some of the files in .config07:21
scalrI ran the sed command listed on that webpage, but apparently it doesn't get everything07:21
scalrSo the concern is what should I do?07:22
scalrDo I change the username back?07:22
hateballwell... unless you've actually manage to change stuff already using sed, then *those* things will break if you change back07:25
scalrWhen I run the sed command from the Ask Ubuntu, it won't tell me what it's changed. I run it, and it attempts to run on an Android folder in my home directory (where the Android SDK is located), and throws an error07:28
hateballyou can just manually fix what your script/oneliner didnt also07:29
scalrWho knows where those are though?07:30
scalrIt says "sed: couldn't edit /home/scalr/Android: not a regular file"07:31
scalrSo I ran a command I found on Google using grep to replace all instances in my home folder. That might've been a bad idea, considering it's been running for 10 minutes.07:50
BluesKaj'Morning all11:28
IrcsomeBot<Anarchotaoist> @valorie, Installing an extras package 'xserver-xorg-input-synaptics' from Muon solved the issue! ✅11:31
turbo64is there a way to disable the thing where pressing any key on the desktop starts krunner?15:39
turbo64i asked in #kde and they refuse to answer15:39
QuantosThis is probably a strange question, a friend just gave me a copy of ARK18:47
QuantosI'm wondering how it runs on KUbuntu18:48
QuantosIt's installing now, I'm just wondering if there's anything I should be aware of18:48
chcknrubi figured out something today while driving20:45
chcknrubi thought every person is linked to someone.... basically the concept of links20:45
chcknrubsame in programming... for a piece of code.. you have to find or understand all references... or links20:45
chcknrubbasically precedent code and dependent codes... which are like links too20:45
chcknrubso we could either take care or break the links etc.... but it is there20:45
chcknrubso in programming ,the more we know, the better.. coz we can see more links20:45
valoriewe are indeed all connected21:52
IrcsomeBot<Barika> kde neon and kubuntu differences?23:35
