GortiZI have a problem with KUbuntu 14.04 (I know it's "old" but it's on a production system and I can't update it right now). When we ask for a shutdown it starts the shutdown process, but at some point we read messagese like: "* Starting internet superserver inetd" and it doesn't shutdown08:10
GortiZDoes anybody have a clue about why the server starts some services during a shutdown? What signal/broken software can cause a startup during a shutdown?08:11
GortiZIt doesn't happen always, but even few times it means that somebody has to go there and reboot manually...08:11
GortiZMhmm I guess not :( Do you know where I can have some help about shutdown/startup processes? Maybe I should ask to Ubuntu channel instead?08:21
hateballGortiZ: Ubuntu is probably more general, yes08:28
GortiZhateball: thanks I'll ask over there as well :( I really can't figure out why it's starting processes during the shutdown :|08:29
hateballAnd I dont know, don't have a 14.04 system handy and it could still depend on what services you run on your particular install08:29
hateballI guess if you grep /etc/rc.d/ for inetd you should see which services could depend on it... and do some detective work from there08:29
GortiZhateball: I see.. but still what I don't understand is why it seems to go from runlevel 0 to runlevel 1 or 5..08:29
GortiZbefor that sometimes I have also the NFS kernel deamon and the openssh server starting up08:30
