=== ichoquo0Aigh9ie is now known as jacky [00:29] I ran a command `rmmod xpad` while tryin gout a differnet module for this controller. I want to undo the process and have tried insmod xpad to add it back but it says there's no such thing. On every boot I have to manually run modprobe xpad to get it back again. how do i simply undo the rmmod i did? I have ensured that xpad is not in the blacklist [00:29] hmm Discover has not been able to use PackageKit for some time for me [00:29] i just don't understand why i have to run modprobe every boot [00:31] i've also tried to purge the xpad and install it again via apt-get [00:31] still every boot i have to manually run modprobe xpad [00:32] jacky: I noticed that too [00:33] CaptainWilder: dunno however #ubuntu-kernel might be able to help? [00:33] thanks ill try there [00:35] ah I think I see why [00:35] so I ran `pkmon` in the background and then started Discover [00:35] it looks like it's attempting to loop some kind of setup stuff [00:35] but it gives up [00:36] I dunno if anyone has reported it to the discover devels [00:36] I meant to but have not [00:36] https://paste.kde.org/plev1p5ti [00:36] word same imma look for a bug [00:38] sounds like you know far more than I do, so thank you! [05:22] Hi! This is the first time I have tried to transfer songs from Cantata to my phone since updating to 18.10. I keep getting an error! How can I fix this? Thanks. [05:23] what error? [05:24] I get one of two pop ups. 1. Busy 2. Error That's all it says! [05:25] hmmm [05:25] not really specific [05:25] could be mtp which still sucks [05:26] have you tried using kdeconnect to transfer [05:26] MTP is activated. Phone says Error: failed to copy -Retry, skip, autoskip, cancel [05:26] mtp hasn't worked for me for years [05:26] I did not know you could do so with KDEconnect! [05:27] if you have a new enough one [05:27] yeah [05:27] I can send files FROM the phone. How do you send TO phone? [05:28] with KDEconnect [05:28] from your computer the same way, right? [05:29] I've not tried it myself [05:30] I cannot see any 'send to device' option on the computer. Only on the phone! ? [05:30] :( [05:30] I'll try [05:33] hmm, mine's not pairing correctly [05:34] This is awful! I cannot live without pairing music to my phone! I have restarted Cantata, MTP and the laptop! No success! 🤦‍♂️ [05:34] aha, app on phone needed an update [05:35] you can't use the cable? [05:35] I almost always do it that way since it's fast [05:35] ? That is what I am doing. [05:35] I just use dolphin [05:35] that's not working? [05:37] hmm, I'll try. It usually does not work to well that way. No album covers and song info does not transfer. It makes a no named file on my phone. [05:38] :( [05:38] you can't do a whole folder? [05:38] I used to do it from within Amarok [05:38] haven't tried that for awhile [05:39] OK. That worked but it is so inelegant and more cumbersome. Right clicking the album in Cantata was so much better! I have bragged to itunes users about how much easier this is. 😕 [05:40] did something change? [05:40] Thanks. [05:40] Cantata isn't KDE software and we provided it because there was no KDE music players that worked better [05:40] The only change I can think of was upgrading to 18.10 from Bionic. [05:40] hmmm [05:41] I wonder if 2.3.0.ds1-2build1 is the latest [05:41] I love Cantata! I do not want to use anything else. Is not Clementine a KDE app though? [05:41] no [05:42] it's Qt, but not within KDE [05:42] and it's pretty old [05:42] Does Cantata have a Telegram forum? [05:42] kde4 like Amarok still [05:42] :( [05:42] that I don't know [05:42] Thanks Valorie. [05:45] looks like there has been a point release [05:45] I'll ask the devels to look at it [06:09] OK, great! 🙏 [08:04] @valorie, I just made a change. I tried a different USB port. Music files now send from Cantata. Strange! [08:04] aha! [08:05] could be a powered vs unpowered or so? [12:46] Hey folks === himcesjf_ is now known as him-cesjf [20:52] is there a fix for the blurry icon label bug? [20:52] https://i.imgur.com/e5fSudC.png [21:00] those do look a bit mushy [21:00] unless they fix at the Plasma level or so, dunno [21:08] i looked it up and people said its from scaling, but scaling is off on mine [21:09] and one person said to try forcing dpi to 96 but that didnt do anything [21:09] i think im just gonna go back to 18.04 === mkv is now known as m4v [22:42] I'm going crazy. I'm trying to get xpad to start with linux but i always have to run modprobe xpad every boot anyway [22:45] i had previously rmmod xpad but then wanted to add it back. I've added it to the auto start modules, ive checked teh black list, ive even installed a different kernal [22:45] it just will not auto start [22:51] !xpad [22:51] nope, ubottu doesn't know [22:52] !modprobe [22:52] pffle [22:52] !info xpad [22:52] xpad (source: xpad): sticky note application for X. In component universe, is optional. Version 5.0.0-1 (bionic), package size 92 kB, installed size 424 kB [22:53] did you install from source or from packages? [22:54] there is a sticky pad thing in plasma - is that acceptable? [22:54] just called notes [22:55] you install it from the hamburger menu either on your panel or desktop, depending on where you want it [23:01] thats not the xpad im talking about [23:02] xpad is a joystick driver kernel module [23:02] there is also an xpad that is a sticky note application [23:02] for controllers like xbox 360 usb [23:03] kernel module can't be installed from autostart [23:03] the kernel is already loaded [23:03] when it is installed new, xpad doesn't need to be modprobed [23:03] so if i reinstall right now the problem will be gone [23:04] so why don't you do that? [23:04] completely reinstall ubuntu [23:04] oh [23:04] because i `rmmod xpad` and am trying to get it back [23:04] that seems a bit bizarre [23:04] anyway, this is the wrong chan [23:04] it does something that i am having trouble undoing [23:04] please try #ubuntu-kernel [23:04] they sent me here [23:04] ! [23:04] said its a KDE ubuntu issue [23:05] how can that be [23:05] we don't mess with the kernel at all [23:05] in any way
