method_yees01:59
terminalatorYou can just grab the kali iso from their main site01:59
terminalatorWhat do you mean exactly?01:59
method_im on xubuntu and i need the kali repo's02:01
method_kali wouldint install02:01
terminalatordeb http://http.kali.org/kali kali-rolling main non-free contrib02:03
terminalatorIs the one, if I recall correctly02:03
method_looks right, but i only need one or two tools so im going to use katoolin02:03
method_thanks anyways though02:04
terminalatorSure, no problem02:04
Unit193Bad idea to mix repos.02:29
ikatamoonshots@method i made a sample xubuntu setup with most of kalis repos and other itsec tools - was mainly intended as script setup sample for xubuntu in general but maybe thats close to what youre looking for https://github.com/alphaaurigae/ownsec02:35
ikatamoonshotsbottom line, you can use any of those tools in kali if you get them from source or apt :)02:36
ikatamoonshotskali also has  lots of repos directly in their own git repositories so thats an option if you cant find them anywhere else02:37
ikatamoonshotsoops hes gone i guess ...02:39

PupUser14ed6chello. What partition size scheme do you guys suggest? 320GB HDD, 1GB RAM.20:35
diogenes_PupUser14ed6c, / = 30 Gb, swap = 5 Gb, /home = rest20:36
diogenes_if it's uefi then add 300 Mb = /boot/rfi20:36
diogenes_ /boot/efi*20:37
PupUser14ed6cnot sure about UEFI. also not sure if XFCE is heavy on a celeron CPU and 1gb of memory20:37
diogenes_it's not about xfce20:37
diogenes_it's about modernr browsers20:37
diogenes_having 1 Gb Ram, and opening two facebook tabs will start lagging20:38
PupUser14ed6cI never hat a boot partition. i always do 2gb swap, 20-30 gb root and the rest for home20:39
diogenes_you need to check your bios settings, if it's in legacy mode then you don't need that /boot/efi, if the CSM or UEFI mode is enabled + secure boot, then you gonna need /boot/efi partition20:41
PupUser14ed6cThe laptop is manufactured in 2008- does it still needs UEFI stuff? i thought its too 2010ish.20:42
diogenes_hehe if 2008 then no uefi, so go ahed with 3 partitions only20:43
PupUser14ed6cDo you have any suggestion about the recommanded swap and root size?20:44
diogenes_root size depends on how many applications you gonna install20:44
diogenes_if you use plenty, then 30 Gb would be enough20:45
diogenes_for 1 Gb of Ram, 3 Gb of swap would be enough but i'd give it 5 Gb because you might want to upgrade Ram. and add a few Gb so then you won't need to adjust swap20:46
PupUser14ed6cIts currently 2 and i have 2 distros installed. Lubuntu and Q4OS. but i want to move to xubuntu20:46
diogenes_good choice20:47
