DreadStormI hate to be a pest, but I wonder if I can get a little configuration help?09:12
diogenes_!ask | DreadStorm09:13
ubottuDreadStorm: Please don't ask to ask a question, simply ask the question (all on ONE line and in the channel, so that others can read and follow it easily). If anyone knows the answer they will most likely reply. :-) See also !patience09:13
DreadStormSorry. My question is about the programs menu ("whiskers menu"). I don't like the Windoze-style paned apps menu, and would like to know how to reconfigure it to look like the older, cascading style programs menu.09:15
diogenes_DreadStorm, but there is the application menu already cascade mode09:15
diogenes_just add it to the panel and remove whisker09:15
DreadStormOkay, I can see how to remove Whiskers. But how do I add the Applications Menu? (Total newbie on Linux.)09:17
DreadStormFound it.  Nevermind. :)09:18
DreadStormThank you for your help.09:21
diogenes_DreadStorm, you're welcome.09:22
diogenes_though i can't see how the application menu is better than whisker? to me it's completely the opposite, to look for an app in the application menu is so much time consuming whereas in whisker just type 2 letter and there you have it.09:23
aradeshhiya. i keep getting 'a system problem was detected' when i boot up. how do i find out what the problem is?09:38
bodicceaDo you mean after you login ? Or during boot itself ?09:40
aradeshafter login09:40
aradeshalso i have two network symbols on the top bar on my screen. a bit random: https://i.imgur.com/BLHUKYZ.png09:40
aradeshi wonder how that happened09:40
aradeshthe system problem message - its a pop up after login, and offers to cancel, or report the system problem, but if i just get rid of it, everything carries on as normal.09:42
bodicceaNext time, try to report it, you will get details on what happened. Meantime, you may have a look in different logfiles, /var/log/syslog, etc... and your own .xsession-errors09:44
aradeshtahnks09:44
aradeshthanks*09:44
bodicceaAbout the icons, it could be one is a "standalone" network plugin, the other could be part of a generic plugin. Right clicking on them could tell you  what they are09:48
aradeshseems the right one is a 'status notifier plugin', whereas the other one gives me all the details about which networks are available, etc.09:50
aradeshxfce4-statusnotifier-plugin09:50
bodicceaJust remove one of them09:54
aradeshdone!09:55
