xubuntu92iI'm trying to install Xubuntu 18.0.4.1 from USB stick to my Dell  Dimension 3000 . What does "can't create file system" mean?  What should I do?\21:55
diogenes_xubuntu92i, how old is your HDD?21:56
xubuntu92ivery old21:57
diogenes_then it's the HDD filled up with bad blocks21:58
xubuntu92iSo I'd need a new HDD?21:59
diogenes_xubuntu92i, first of all try to clean the drive22:00
diogenes_and if you can, then back up your data first22:01
xubuntu92iHow do I clean my drive if the old operating system doesn't work?22:02
diogenes_you boot xubuntu live session22:02
xubuntu92iWe don't care about the data.22:02
diogenes_then use gparted22:02
diogenes_and create a new partition scheme22:02
diogenes_and try again to create partitions and stuff22:02
xubuntu92iDoes live session show up if I reboot with the USB stick in?22:03
diogenes_of yourse22:03
diogenes_there is two option22:03
diogenes_install and try22:03
diogenes_try means live session22:03

MannyLAssistance please. Every time I start my compuetr I get the dialog box that says System program problem detected when I click report and enter my password I get another dialg that says Sorryl, Ubuntu 18.04 has experienced an internal error send problem to the developers? How do I resolve this? I am not very Linux proficient22:20
JackFrostThe crash reports are in /var/crash/, so you can at least see what's crashing.22:21
MannyLJackFrost, thank yiu klet me start reading there22:22
JackFrostMannyL: That doesn't really solve your problem, it's how you can stop the error message from popping up but that doesn't report it.22:22
MannyLJackFrost, gives me somethung to google about22:23
JackFrostSpecifically, if you remove the crash reports, it won't bug you anymore.  There's a terminal version of the crash reporter though, apport-cli, that you can use to report it instead (eg, apport-cli /var/crash/whateverfile)22:24
diogenes_MannyL, pay attention to that dialogue, there is a button "details" (afaik) once you hit details it should show you what exactly crashed.22:25
MannyLJackFrost, and diogenes_ it is related to Alsa which would explain why I have no sound22:27
diogenes_MannyL, then you gonna have to troubleshoot it.22:29
MannyLYes let me see what I can find by searchinhg. I have a feeling I will be back22:30
JackFrostDang, was going to give him a link.22:32
