margaritamikeIs there anything I can do about my VM? When I boot up, before it can get to the login screen, it just says "started bpfilter". This is lubuntu00:08
wxlare you sure the iso is valid margaritamike ?00:25
margaritamikeYep used it yesterday00:25
wxlthen that suggests you did something to create the problem00:26
wxlit's certainly not something i've seen before00:26
margaritamikeAt the top of the messages I see Failed to connect to lvmetad. Falling back to internal scanning00:38
wxlto be clear does the system boot successfully or not?00:40
margaritamikeWhen you say boot successfully, what do you mean? I decrypt the drive, see the lubuntu loading screen, and a black screen after with the messages I've mentioned00:43
wxlso it never gets to the login?00:43
margaritamikewxl: correct00:48
wxlmaybe helpful https://askubuntu.com/questions/745218/ubuntu-wont-boot-because-of-lvmetad00:52
margaritamikeI was thinking of trying https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/14804100:54
margaritamikeI see ls (proc)00:54
margaritamikeSays00:54
margaritamike(proc): Filesystem is procfs.00:54
margaritamikeNothing shows up for ls (proc)/boot though00:55
margaritamikeI can't run any of those commands in your thread00:56
margaritamikeI can only go to grub rescue. IDK how to get a recovery boot00:56
wxlthere's also this https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/199164/error-run-lvm-lvmetad-socket-connect-failed-no-such-file-or-directory-but00:58
wxli've never had that issue so i really have no clue what to tell you00:58
wxlone thing to know is this is not a lubuntu-specific issue00:59
wxlany debian-based systemd/grub2-driven system should be roughly identical00:59
wxlnot to mention the other ubuntu flavors00:59
wxlyou might try #ubuntu and see if they've had more experience with it01:00
margaritamikei can run set01:56
margaritamikefrom the grub01:56
margaritamikeand see a prefix and root01:56
moniker--i noticed that lubuntu allows logging into the system without askign for password02:18
moniker--but if you put computer into sleep mode, after waking up it asks for password02:19
lubot<HMollerCl> I believe you can configure that02:19
moniker--is there a way to make it not ask for password after waking up? unfortunately i don't have ubuntu laptop anymore just asking out of curiosity02:19
lubot<HMollerCl> I think you can02:20
moniker--kk02:20
moniker--in the interest of consistency i would think that once you set the option to not be asked for password at login it would also not ask for password at wakeup from sleep02:21
moniker--at least when installing OS02:21
moniker--in any case, you cannot have account without password aka blank one right?02:22
lubot<HMollerCl> I believe you cannot02:22
moniker--alright02:22
lubot<HMollerCl> the thing is that this sleep you mention involves a lock screen02:24
lubot<HMollerCl> and a locks screen ask for password02:24
lubot<HMollerCl> you can change that in energy settings02:25
kc2bez@HMollerCl in 18.10 I think the screensaver controls the locking.02:27
lubot<HMollerCl> I have screensaver w/o locking02:28
lubot<HMollerCl> you could make the screensaver lock, but you can also make the energy manager lock02:29
kc2bezRight, you have to turn it off in the screensaver settings I think.02:29
lubot<HMollerCl> mmm, could be, I don't remember the default02:34
moniker--@HMollerCl alright thx04:18

Meadso I set my recent lubuntu isntall to go to sleep after x minutes of inactivity.  BUT it doesn't sleep, when I do interact to get the screen to turn on, it THEN decides to go to sleep.  THEN when it wakes up, there are two network icons in the lower right hand corner and the wired interface won't get a DHCP lease.20:23
powderedtoastmanHi20:43
