Limuxic@todobarato - do you still need help with the usb device?17:41
thaurwylthI tried to create a USB stick from ISO (18.10) and use it on a Windows 10 laptop and also boot from it, but nothing seems to work. Autorun does not work when it's plugged in and none of the files listed on the drive open in any meaningful way. During boot screen I can select the stick as a boot media, but that simply causes a small delay and then the choice for boot media appears again. Only if I choose the laptop's ...17:54
thaurwylth... own hard drive (which hosts the Windows boot) do I get to progress.17:54
thaurwylthI understand that there are many different things that could be at fault here. But let me ask this. Is there some sort of maximum size for a bootable stick media? I tried to create this on a 32 GB stick.17:55
OvenWerksI have used a 32G USB stick with no problems17:57
LimuxicI think it very much depends on which program you used to create the bootable disk, and which operating system17:57
thaurwylthWin 10, first Rufus and then UNetbootin.17:58
OvenWerksHave you checked the md5sum?17:59
OvenWerksI use dd to put the image on the USB stick17:59
Limuxic"Is there some sort of maximum size for a bootable stick media? I tried to create this on a 32 GB stick."  I don't think there's a limit18:00
thaurwylthYou mean sum of the burned image? I don't know of an easy way to do that on Windows. The source ISO has correct md5 and sha1.18:01
LimuxicIt sometimes depends on the quality of the usb disk itself18:01
thaurwylthNow I tried to create a DD version with Rufus, the results are the same. Boot from USB does not work and nothing meaningful can be done on the stick while booted to Windows.18:39
LimuxicI suggest trying with another usb stick, sometimes I have the same issues, changing the stick helped solve this kind of problem18:43
thaurwylthLet's see... This might take some time.18:43
LimuxicIt doesn't guarantee success, but it will eliminate that possibility18:44
LimuxicAlso, if possible, try using an old CD for writing the image and booting with it18:45
