[00:02] brainwash: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1814481 if you have anything else to suggest... [00:02] Launchpad bug 1814481 in xorg (Ubuntu) "bluetooth keyboard not working" [Undecided,New] [01:11] Hi, I removed the desktop user xfce but there is still a lot showing up in Synaptic how do I uninstall it entirely> [01:26] xubuntu07w: what is showing up? [01:33] uhm all kinds of stuff : libexo-common/libexo-.../xfce4 powermanager/ xfdesktop... [01:34] so, how did you install Xfce? [01:34] I would uninstall that particular package (probably xfce4), and then run "sudo apt autoremove" [01:35] that should remove packages which are longer needed [01:36] I installed it true Synaptic and I removed it true command [01:37] xfce4 doesn't show up anymore in synaptic [01:37] only bunch of other stuff from xfce [01:38] then run the autoremove command [01:38] I recall that Synaptic can do it too [01:39] I already tried the autoremove control it doesn't find anything anymore. [01:41] I found some stuff under : not installed (residual config) in synaptic from xfce [01:41] maybe I can remove that [01:41] maybe you can [01:42] you could also check the installation history [01:42] and manually remove the listed package [01:42] packages [01:43] logs are kept in /var/log/apt and /var/log/dpkg [01:43] ok thanks. [01:44] maybe nc is unstable in debian unstable [01:45] woops [01:45] :) [01:46] do I put this in command /var/log/apt? [01:57] xubuntu07w: you open it with a file manager [02:01] oh of course I see. [02:05] oke that seems like a lot of searching work. I am maybe not as skilled. [02:06] I found it, but there are a lot of logs to go true [02:10] *threw [02:11] Thank you for the help, I am login out now. === brainwash_ is now known as brainwash [09:59] Different boot stick gives the Ubuntu Studio installation window, okay. But it immediately announced some three ACPI errors. Is this bad? [10:00] Then there was the Ubuntu Studio logo for some time and now there is the installation welcome screen. [10:02] Wait, it was actually different channel where I first commented on this. Sorry. I got confused from the fact that Studio is based on Xubuntu. [10:58] thaurwylth: it's not based on xubuntu, but it does use Xfce as desktop environment also [10:59] Yeah, I guess I got that confused. [11:00] Although the 'known issues' list that they typically provide suggests to check also the main Ubuntu known issues and Xubuntu known issues, if I recall correctly. I guess that would be because of sharing Xfce? [11:02] By the way, right now I'm seeing a Xfce environment in use before my eyes for the very first time! [11:03] I just installed Ubuntu Studio on a laptop and let's see how it goes... Not really #xubuntu material, though, but cursorily related to Xfce user experience!!! [11:06] thaurwylth: shared issues across ubuntu and all its flavours are unrelated to Xfce [11:07] they all share certain components though, like CUPS for printing [11:07] and basically everything under the hood, like the linux kernel [11:09] had to read that again. yes, Xubuntu will have a list of known issues with Xfce. [16:17] hello? [16:17] hi? [16:17] uhhh it's working [16:17] :D [16:18] tried irc with pidgin [16:18] into my favorite distro ofc [16:18] hehe [16:23] which irc client are you using? [16:23] I think I dont like pidgin [16:24] hexchat [16:24] ahh okay, thanks, I will try it out [16:26] ahh, I like it [16:27] so do i [16:32] okay, see ya, trying stuff out :) [17:45] diogenes_: The problem is not with updates. What chip did you meant? [17:45] Unlimiter, graphics chip [17:45] Oh no [17:46] F*CK! [17:46] what you expect [17:46] it's from 2000 [17:46] Ok [17:46] I'm a grandpa before time [17:46] hehe [17:46] tell granny to save some money for a new machine [17:46] :( [17:47] diogenes_: Do you prefer Nvidia or Intel in video cards companies? [17:49] Unlimiter, i prefer optimus, there is no better than optimus, it means intel gpu + nvidia gpu, so normally your system runs on intel gpu which is power saving and only when you need some power demanding stuff like games, you run it on your nvidia graphics [17:49] isn't that cool:? [17:50] diogenes: but that's expensive [17:50] (oops missed '_') [17:50] Unlimiter, not that much [17:51] I just want a graphic card that don't make my screen flicker [17:51] And also capable of heavy stuff like complex 3D graphics [17:52] then i'd go with nvidia [17:55] diogenes_: can't I somehow do anything with this piece of shit I have to fix it? [17:57] Unlimiter, no clue, have you tried different os verions? newer and older? [17:57] diogenes_: and no resolution [17:58] I've left the iso file of Xubuntu in my USB since my move to Xubuntu... [17:59] And the fact that that version didn't change anything [17:59] Is a strong clue [17:59] That something else is wrong [17:59] Which is in this case, the GC [18:00] Unlimiter, most likely yes [19:52] hello [22:30] Repeat from two days ago: I noticed on some Xubuntu supported architectures webpage that x86 are well supported and also included in that are old 32b VIA (former Cyrix) models. That is all good. Is there anything else that I should check, or something that my system needs to support in order to be xubuntifiable? Should there be some buzzwords I should check to exist on the /proc/cpuinfo listing? [22:39] thaurwylth: if no one here knows about that someone in #ubuntu might [22:43] Yeah, I'll try that at some point. === GridCube_ is now known as GridCube
