If anyone knows the answer they will most likely reply. :-) See also !patience [22:56] I'm running ubuntustudio 18.04 with KXstudio installed. Some applications are really laggy. VST plugins (Helm/Zyn) UI are laggy, Signal UI is laggy. What to do? [22:57] zeiseidk: We do not support running Ubuntu Studio with KXStudio installed. That PPA has been known to reak havoc on Ubuntu Studio systems, and as such, we cannot support it. [22:58] that is a shame. is there a way to get all the plugins from kxstudio, without installing the complete kxstudio packages? [22:59] What plugins do you need? [22:59] which applications? [22:59] all the vst plugins, effects, cadence and so on [23:00] cadence will not run with Studio properly [23:00] Cadence, in particular, causes problems with Ubuntu Studio installs. [23:00] ok, it works for me [23:00] We can't support it. [23:00] you can replace it with ubuntustudio-controls [23:00] If you need support if using kxstudio, go to #kxstudio. [23:00] ok, by uninstalling candence and the installing ubuntustudio-controls? [23:01] then* [23:01] yes. [23:01] ok thanks [23:01] Yes, but only the newest version. If you'd like, you can add ppa:ubuntustudio-ppa/backports for that. [23:01] perhaps I should di a clean reinstall [23:01] I do not know why things are laggy normally that would be a video driver thing [23:02] You'll also need to clear out your ~/.pulse directory. [23:02] oh yeah, I'll try activating my nvidia card [23:02] Cadence does some configuration stuff in that. [23:03] thanks, I'll uninstall cadence and clear /.pulse [23:04] The developer of Cadence is even moving away from having Cadence, but I don't know what his plans are. The other tools (Catia, Claudia, etc.) are okay, but not Cadence itself. [23:07] do I delete everything in /.pulse? [23:08] Yes. [23:08] That entire directory overrides pulseaudio's default configuration in Ubuntu. [23:09] if you run "sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntustudio-ppa/backports" it will add our (unannounced) backports PPA which contains the latest version of Ubuntu Studio Controls. You'll find it much easier than Cadence. [23:13] nice, I'll do that! [23:30] Hi, just wanted to say that I solved the gui lagging issue [23:30] I added backport repos and uninstalled cadence and updated (and enabled nvidia graphics driver and restarted) [23:31] thanks for your help [23:35] zenseidk: Glad we could help. :)
