Why can't it continuously transfer to the USB device like Windows does? [15:25] Cosmos, because you need to limit dirty bytes [15:28] I found that, and did this recommendation but it didn't help. https://gist.github.com/2E0PGS/f63544f8abe69acc5caaa54f56efe52f [15:29] Some said it worked, but it's not for me. [15:31] Cosmos, run: cat /proc/sys/vm/dirty_bytes [15:32] tell me the output [15:33] 0 [15:33] run: sudo nano /etc/sysctl.conf [15:34] at the end of the file you add: vm.dirty_bytes = 15728640 [15:34] after that you run: sudo sysctl -p [15:34] reboot [15:34] come back again [15:34] Okay, will do. [15:40] Okay, I did that, but it didn't help- it transfers for at 40MiB/s for a few seconds then stops for a while, then picks up again, then stops, etc... [15:41] run: cat /proc/sys/vm/dirty_bytes [15:42] 15728640 [15:42] hmmm what is drives filesystem? ntfs? [15:43] Zfs raid1 (2 USB sticks, as an experiment) [15:45] Sorry for the non-conventional setup, I thought it would work... [15:45] oh so windows writes to zfs without problems? [15:45] The OS is on Ext4 [15:45] No, I formatted the USB sticks on the Xubuntu box. [15:46] Using Gparted [15:46] And Zpool [15:46] is there zfs option in gparted? [15:47] format them as ext4 [15:47] No [15:49] I could later, it would break my raid. Thanks. [15:50] I'll get back to you later. Thanks so much for your help. [15:51] yw [18:24] Where I can found a way to help improving Xubuntu [18:24] ??? [18:39] !contribute [18:39] To see how you can help out with Xubuntu, please see http://xubuntu.org/contribute/ - additionally, you can join the devleoper channel #xubuntu-devel and introduce yourself (we'll reply when we're around) [18:39] ..oh, a bit late [18:40] * genii wanders back to the coffeepot === mnepton is now known as mneptok === knome_ is now known as knome
