dpawlikcoreycb: Hi, Im wondering why sometimes I have a failures on my dev zone with e.g. multiattach and I see that package for Queens cloud archive and Bionic as well are old. Last available packages there is 9.1.1 but as I see https://releases.openstack.org/queens/ it should be 10.1.0. Could you build new package or it will be a problem :> ?11:42
dpawlikplease :D11:42
dpawlikapt coreycb ^^13:43
Marzdoes live patch work with the server?16:34
sarnoldwhat do you mean?16:34
tomreyngood chat there.16:35
Marzi get a message about signing up for livepatch when i access the server16:37
tomreynsarnold: i'm really not into apparmor, yet, do you happen to know whether the firefox profile is active by default? i tried to understand this the other day, but (without reading up on things online, just by reviwing my configuration) i wasn't able to.16:37
tomreynMarz: is this a bug report?16:37
Marzno16:38
Marznot clear to me how livepatch works on a server16:38
tomreynMarz: so, since it doesn't end with a question mark, i assum eit is not a question, either? sounds more like a statement.16:38
tomreynMarz: if you register for livepatch, the snap will be installed and you'll be able to manage it.16:39
Marzi see it now16:41
Marzis this recommended?16:41
sarnoldtomreyn: I think the firefox profile is disabled by default -- I just installed firefox into a bionic schroot, and there's a symlink in /etc/apparmor.d/disable/16:42
sarnoldtomreyn: so yes, there's a profile, but it appears to be disabled by default16:42
sarnoldMarz: the kernel livepatching is particularly nice if you have machines you can't reboot on the three week update cadence16:43
tomreynsarnold: a pity. i know firefox comes with its own sandbox (nowadays) but double layer would be great. anyways, thanks for testing!16:44
sarnoldtomreyn: yeah.. but it does put restrictions on how firefox is used..16:45
sarnoldrm /etc/apparmor.d/disable/usr.bin.firefox ; systemctl reload apparmor   ought to be enough to make it work16:45
tomreynprobably that's the same with any software restricted by apparmor. that's its purpose. are you aware of required functionality it'd break?16:46
tomreynalso, is the "three week update cadence" described anywhere? this is news to me.16:46
tomreyni will try what breaks with the profile enabled, ty.16:47
sarnoldtomreyn: stuff lkke you won't be able to download straight to just any place you want..16:48
sarnoldhelper apps may or may not be alloewd16:48
sarnoldtomreyn: this is pretty old at this point, but probably not too wrong :) https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/StableReleaseCadence16:50
tomreynhmm pdf viewer still works, looks good so far16:50
sarnold/etc/apparmor.d/abstractions/ubuntu-browsers shows some of the allowed applications16:51
tomreynand .d/ , interesting16:52
tomreynthanks for the wiki link, too16:52
sarnoldtime to bail, have fun :)16:53
tomreynsee you!16:53
blackflowtomreyn: iirc default profile does not allow DRM/widevine. meanwhile I've built my own profile. the FF one is rather too open for my taste.17:34
tomreynnot allowing DRM / widevine is a plus to me.17:34
tomreynwould you share yours?17:35
blackflowsure, sec...17:35
blackflowtomreyn: https://dpaste.de/RNs9   though even this could use a bit more trimming, esp. in the #includes department17:37
tomreynblackflow: thank you. i'll see how it compares to the default one and then how it works for me.17:39
johnnyfiveHopefully this is the correct channel for this18:40
johnnyfiveI'm trying to recreate a flat-file repository using an absolute Suite Component entry in my sources.list, however in Bionic i've started to receive the "W: Conflicting distribution:" error due to bionic now trying to match the release to the codename in the Release file18:41
johnnyfiveis there a way around this? Or what's the canonical way to create a flat file repository for Bionic? I've determined I can get around the error by changing the "Codename" to "main/" in my Release file, but i'm not 100% sure of the affects of that18:41
johnnyfivemore detail about this and the configs/Release/sources.list to illustrate what i'm talking about: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/scQZtNb7Cz/18:46
johnnyfivethis exact same config worked before in xenial18:47

blackflowhttps://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000025890/network-and-i-o/ethernet-products.html21:48
tomreynBlueking: or you just try it21:50
OerHeksit wasn't in 2015 .. http://ask.xmodulo.com/download-install-ixgbe-driver-ubuntu-debian.html21:51
BluekingI have ubuntu version 16.04.5 LTS installed   looks like driver are there ?22:15
tomreynBlueking: got any other questions then?22:25
Bluekingtomreyn need to remove intel pro nic card first to install new one :)22:26
tomreynphysically then?22:27
Bluekingtomreyn bonded 2 network ports and added some vlans22:28
tomreynjohnnyfive: since no one else responded: have you tried this sources.list entry on clients instead? "deb [trusted=yes] file:///tmp/instances/ubuntu/bionic main/"22:28
tomreynBlueking: i see, have fun.22:28
Bluekingthx22:29
johnnyfivetomreyn, thanks for responding, but i'm specifying a flat-folder repo utilizing absolute pathing so i'm pretty sure that won't work. I'll try just to confirm.22:47
tomreynjohnnyfive: i have no experience with this, am just guessing based on what i'm used to in terms of paths, so i may very well be wrong there.22:48
johnnyfivetomreyn, understood, I appreciate it :)22:48
Bluekingtomreyn: 06:00.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation Ethernet Controller 10G X550T (rev 01)  seems all ok23:27
tomreynBlueking: so?23:31
OerHeksnice23:31
