nikolamhow to start right-resolution X session in a new X session on second virtual terminal (nvidia driver) ? It always sets resolution to 1280X1024 when I start it with startX.. I would like it to be 1920X108005:27
nikolammaybe problem is the second (disabled) monitor that maxes out on 1280X1024?)05:28
nikolamI have a friend I want to let use computer on another virtual console (Ctrl+Alt+F6) without user switching05:29
nikolambut resolution is wrong.05:30
well_laid_lawnnikolam:  tried looking at the Xorg log ?05:30
nikolamI have .xsession-errors : https://bpaste.net/show/66e34aa80e8405:33
well_laid_lawnnot the same thing05:35

nikolamwell_laid_lawn, https://bpaste.net/show/d52b1758b50b05:41
nikolamSo instead of using nvidia module it is loading nouveau and gettign wrong resolution ?05:43
nikolamFirst session is already active and on VT705:43
well_laid_lawnlooks like there is no nvidia module05:46
nikolamnvidia module is used on VT705:52
nikolammaybe I could tell it to reuse it05:53
well_laid_lawn!msg ubottu !multiseat05:56
ubottuwell_laid_lawn: I am only a bot, please don't think I'm intelligent :)05:56
DarkTrickI'm searching #xfve-dev to discuss the suggestion of a new feature for xfce. It seems to not be on freenode. Could someone point me in the right direction?06:08
well_laid_lawnit's xfce not xfve which might help06:10
DarkTrickthat was also bugging me, thanks! I should first file a bug for their website :D06:11
nikolamI don't think it is multiseat, I don't use 2 monitora, I just want new X session on the same monitor...07:04
nikolammonitors07:04
nikolamAnd here is lightdm on Xubuntu instead of gdm etc.07:05
nikolamSwitching users would also work for me, but does Xfce/Xubuntu allows this.07:56
nikolamIf I use XScreenSaver , it has "new login" option that exactly starts lightdm greeter on a new Virtual terminal (Ctrl+Alt+F8) , while previous X/session is untouched on VT707:57
nikolamBut I still get 1280X1024 resolution instead of desired 1920X102407:57
nikolamNor I can switch resolution as the "second" user logged in into new VT07:58
well_laid_lawnnvidia has its' own application for setting things up - tried using it /07:59
nikolamwell_laid_lawn, Yes and when running as new logged-in user, it doesn't give any options for changing resolution.07:59
nikolamIt may be like new login/VT again, maybe does not use Nvidia driver...08:00
nikolamyes, it's the same as running "startx" myself.. it fails to load nvidia module because it is already loaded..08:02
nikolame.g. ways of starting X server in main session and in new session are different..08:02
nikolamThere's something here on page 3, like setting it up for nvidia, smells like that.. : https://www.phoronix.com/forums/forum/linux-graphics-x-org-drivers/nvidia-linux/4560-multiple-x-servers-on-one-card08:13
nikolam"You can easily run 2 (or more) Xservers on one card"08:13
well_laid_lawnafaik nouveau module should have been blacklisted08:14
nikolamBlacklisted it but I don't think it is using it, aether08:22
nikolamlet me reboot08:23
well_laid_lawnrmmod would have been enough08:25

bytewrite01Question, How to refresh screen vs rebooting in Xubuntu?10:47
brainwashrefresh means what?10:48
brainwashas in what are you trying to fix?10:48
bytewrite01Sorry, I should have been more specific. So I'm messing around with Wonderwall wallpaper manager, set something as current desktop wallpaper and it didn't change so thought I could refresh vs rebooting entire system.10:51
bytewrite01To see if that would help or not.10:51
bytewrite01Didn't really want to do an entire system reboot.10:52
brainwashyou could just relog, or terminate xfdesktop and restart it10:52
brainwashor run "xfdesktop --reload"10:53
bytewrite01Ok, thank you for the help, I'll give that a try.10:53
xubuntu27whelp17:34
xubuntu27wAfter updating my software from on Ubuntu 18.04, Bionic Beaver, my wireless network does not show up anymore.  I do I solve this problem17:36
brainwashxubuntu27w: best to ask in #ubuntu17:44
Exterminadorhi. this is more related to Xubuntu itself than Ubuntu. so, I need to have keyboard layout as French but the writting language as Portuguese, so  I can type words like "ã", which should be achieved with AltGr+2 - o; but whats happening as soon as I hit AltGr+2, its puts a "~" directly. In Windows I'm able to use this kind of setup but for the hell of me I can't find out how to do it in Xubuntu19:32
caldarella》Hi, I would like run conky (system monitor) when starting xubuntu. I have run Applications Menu > Sessions and Start and I have created a element that is connected to conky.sh where inside this script there is a link of conky preceded by a 'sleep 30' command. 《This procedure is correct or there is a better solution for starting conky?》20:53
gnrpcaldarella: Cannot help you directly, but why the sleep 30?20:56
gnrpand the widget showing the stuff does not start conky by itself?20:56
caldarellagnrp sleep 30 because I tried to remove it but conky starts very early and then disappears despite being still present in the background20:58
JackFrostFWIW, I don't have a sleep timer, just a desktop start file in ~/.config/autostart/21:54
