_Anna_How can I close a program skipping its auto-save? The command kill doesn't do that and unplugging the computer isn't practical :/06:11
well_laid_lawn_Anna_:  tried   kill -9   ?06:13
_Anna_what -9 means06:14
well_laid_lawnkill it without waiting for it to do its' shutdown thing06:15
well_laid_lawnif the program catches sighup, sigterm etc there might not anything you can do06:16
AndrioIt sends SIGKILL instead of SIGTERM, which doesn't give the process a chance to intercept it06:19
_Anna_"kill -9 pid" ?06:19
well_laid_lawnyep06:24
_Anna_I think that worked! Thank you06:24

jaltHi, the most up-to-date link to the current 16.04.6 iso is http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/xubuntu/xenial/daily-live/current/ right? Is the expected release date the same as base Ubuntu (Feb 28th)?10:22
xubuntu96wthat does not work15:37
Furycd001When trying to remove dejavu fonts with apt, it also wants to remove xubuntu-core & xubuntu-desktop. Is it safe to remove these or is there a better way to remove dejavu fonts from my system ??17:10
gnrpFurycd001: Rather not do it17:17
gnrpthese two packages are meta packages which might get very important in case of an upgrade17:18
Furycd001Ok thanks. Yea I thought something like that, which is why I wanted to check here. Anyway.. Is there a way to remove dejavu fonts from my system without removing those packages ??17:19
Furycd001I'm trying to clear out all unused & unnecessary fonts from my system....17:20
gnrpdejavu is the standard font, isn't it?17:21
Furycd001I assume so because it's linked to and installed with xubuntu packages.17:21
gnrpI doubt there is a nice way to do it. When xubuntu-core depends on it, it is "required" by the system17:22
Furycd001Hmmmm guess so....17:22
Furycd001It's so annoying whenever you're in gimp looking for a font and have to scroll past all those never used fonts....17:23
gnrpindeed, that's true. Personally, I search the fonts by using the keyboard, then17:23
gnrpand isn't a big part of it downloaded by the browser anyway?17:23
* gnrp has reading about fonts and how they work in linux on his todo list for a looong time17:23
Furycd001Not really sure to be honest. I'd use my keyboard to search for fonts too if i know which one i want to use. Though sometimes I decide on the font by looking at the preview box....17:27
gnrpindeed, true. But if you e.g. installed the bigger dejavu package, you can remove that in favor of the other one17:27
Furycd001Yea that's true....17:31
Furycd001Thanks for the help :)17:32
gnrpno bother, have fun!17:36
