[15:31] One of the MANY bizarre things in lxqt... [15:31] I wish I had never gone to 18.10 [15:31] Shift-Insert work? [15:32] C-S-V works also [15:32] let me try... I can also paste from the menu or from right clicking, but this USED to work fine in 18.04 [15:33] Yes-- shift insert does work [15:33] so we have to remember a special paste command for each app? ;-( [15:34] I tried-- shift insert works in other apps too [15:35] but probably not in Windows, which I visit occasionally [15:35] C-S-V does not work for me-- fresh install of 18.10 [15:35] For me it works, also with a fresh install [15:36] I am not sure what is different for me. I have a vague feeling that it worked initially, but stopped later [15:36] Check the settings of qterminal [15:36] I did-- emulation is defualt [15:36] default [15:37] but changing it to linux does not cure the problem [15:37] which setting will do it? [15:38] in addition, there does not seem to be a way to save the changed setting in a named profile, as is possible in other terminals [15:38] When I restart the terminal, it reverts to default emulation [15:43] The only thing I did was to purge fcitx and ibus, so that I could get different keyboard layouts [15:43] they interfered with changing the layouts [15:44] Did you check the settings in the "shortcuts" section? [15:45] I did-- no C-S-V tehre [15:45] Then set it to C-S-V and retry [15:46] Paste Clipboard -> Ctrl+Shift+V [15:46] sorry-- I misspoke-- there it says C-S-V is paste clipboard [15:46] which it does not do in my laptop [15:47] venik212: you have very strange things in your installation, ctrl+shit+c and ctrl+shift+c works perfectly in all the other installations [15:47] ALL the other installations? That is an interesting statement [15:47] are you sure that you downloaded from teh correct source (lubuntu.me) and that you check the iso for integrity first? [15:47] If you set the shortcut, does it recognise your CTRL and SHIFT keys? [15:48] Yes and yes-- I have been using Lubuntu since version 7 or so, and never had this kind of behavior [15:48] I miss LXDE.. ;-) [15:49] I dind't need to set it is in the defaukt [15:49] ctr+shift+t opens a new tab in qterminal [15:50] Not for me... C-S-T does nothing for me [15:51] Is it set? Or is it empty? [15:51] It is set as default [15:51] it shows in the shortcuts table [15:52] C-S-T --> New tab [15:52] that works for you? [15:52] no it doees not === ErichEickmeyer is now known as Eickmeyer [15:53] What shows `ll .config/qterminal.org/qterminal.ini`? [15:54] (Photo, 800x764) https://i.imgur.com/feqZOlU.jpg this is the shortcut table [15:55] venik212: maybe someting went wrong during your installation. COudl you try if it works on a live session? [15:55] Paste%20Clipboard=Ctrl+Shift+V [15:55] from the qterminal.ini file [15:55] also are ypu sure that your ctrl and shift keys works? [15:55] they do for other applications [15:56] ll is an alias for ls -l, so maybe i like to know something else [15:57] the shortcut table looks like mine [15:57] I am wondering whether it is possible that this happens because I have two other layouts... [15:58] venik212: do you upgrade from a version or did a clean install of 18.10? [15:58] clean install [15:58] what does the command apt-ghetto give you get? [16:01] -rw-rw-r-- 1 root root 2140 Feb 26 16:22 .config/qterminal.org/qterminal.ini [16:03] Ok, you played with sudo [16:05] guilty as charged [16:05] Find all files and directories, that are not owned by you: `find . ! -user $USER` [16:05] Then change the ownership: `sudo chown $USER:$USER .config/qterminal.org/qterminal.ini` and for all other files too [16:06] With all other files I mean only the files in your ~ directory [16:08] Do it exactly as you typed it, or replace user with my usernname? [16:08] is teh same [16:09] If `echo $USER` shows your username, than it is the same [16:09] $USER is your usernname [16:09] but if you set the USER variable to something else... [16:10] ^ good point [16:21] OK-- I did it. So far it did not fix it. Should I reboot? [16:22] rebooting [16:25] no dice.... I am really puzzled [16:41] Same failure with xterm [16:42] so, it seems, that your key stroke is intercepted somehow [16:42] indeed... [16:43] do you know xev?
