[00:02] <xubuntu47w> hi, how do I change the xubuntu theme and where can I get them?
[00:03] <Unit193> Settings Manager → Appearance, you *can* get them online, but a lot of them have poor GTK3 compatibility. You can look in the archive for the 'Arc' theme, 'Numix', or something else like that. They have decent GTK3 support.
[02:21] <emanuel> I need some help. I was told I need vino-preferences to get desktop sharing to work but I can't find it on my system even after doing apt-get install vino Can I get some help please

[11:29] <BiGSexY> Anyone willing to help a linux noob before he puts his head through the desk?
[11:29] <BiGSexY> Woke up this morning and my computer wouldn't wake from sleep
[11:30] <BiGSexY> pressed the reset button, made some coffee and came back about 5 min later to a black screen
[11:30] <BiGSexY> Reset again, and selected the Advanced Options from the grub menu
[11:31] <BiGSexY> When i try and load any of the normal kernels it freezes after "loading initial ram disk"
[11:31] <BiGSexY> If I select any of the recovery mode options
[11:32] <BiGSexY> I get the error Alert! /dev/mapper/xubuntu--vg-root does not exist dropping to shell
[11:33] <BiGSexY> at which point I'm dropped into the initramfs cmd line
[11:34] <BiGSexY> I've loaded up a live USB
[11:34] <BiGSexY> where I managed to find this link https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/225246/missing-root-vg-dropped-to-an-initramfs-shell
[11:35] <BiGSexY> which suggested i modify the /boot/grub.cfg and change /dev/mapper/xubuntu--vg-root to /dev/mapper/ssd_vg-root_lv
[11:36] <BiGSexY> When I try and mount the drive using sudo mount /dev/sdc1 /media/untitled
[11:36] <BiGSexY> I get the error
[11:36] <BiGSexY> mount: /media/untitled: unknown filesystem type 'LVM2_member'.
[11:37] <BiGSexY> as far as I can tell from lsblk and fdisk -l everything seems to still be there
[11:37] <BiGSexY> I can access the files from the drive if I double click it to mount
[11:37] <BiGSexY> but I can't mount it in read/write
[11:38] <BiGSexY> and I don't know enough about the boot process to even understand where to start troubleshooting this.
[11:39] <BiGSexY> unfortunately it seems that most of the post related to this issue are almost 5 years old

[12:21] <BiGSexY> Ran mount /dev/xubuntu-vg/root and managed to get I beleive the boot partition up but I no longer see the main partition and can't access the root of the drive
[13:03] <BiGSexY> Managed to chroot into my hard drive
[13:04] <BiGSexY> tried running update-grub and get the error: failed to get canonical path of `/dev/mapper/xubuntu--vg-root'.

[18:06] <letterrip> hi all, is there a way to cycle through all windows, rather than just the windows of the current workspace?
[18:12] <brainwash> letterrip: did you check "window manager tweaks" yet?
[18:13] <letterrip> brainwash, thanks for the hint
