FurretUberFrom my last experiences, only the fix lands on drm-tip it would be considered fixed there. The last resort would be the kernel Bugzilla, but it's are for maintainers to see bugs reported there00:03

RSplietIt looks like Ubuntu kernel 4.4.0-143-generic is API incompatible with earlier versions from the 4.4.0 branch. Compared against 4.4.0-142, in include/linux/mm.h the get_user_pages() method has had the "force" boolean flag removed.12:28
RSplietIs this a violation of Ubuntu policy worth reporting (as it breaks out-of-tree module build), or should such changes be expected?12:31
RSplietOh here's the offender: https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git/commit/include/linux/mm.h?h=v4.4.176&id=8e50b8b07f462ab4b91bc1491b1c91bd75e4ad4012:33
apwRSpliet, that ABI change was a necessary change for a security fix.  the known out of tree drivers were corrected, but obviously unknown ones we cannot remediate16:50
sorinelloHello. Anyone knows how well Ubuntu supports BTRFS ? I maybe someone knows. I found some articles f rom 2015-2016 NOT recommending BTRFS yet18:08
RSplietapw: thanks for the response. If this is "know breakage" I'll leave it with that. I personally rely on an older version of NVIDIAs graphics driver for (reverse engineering) reasons. I suspect very few other people have a compelling reason to rely on older drivers.19:14
RSplietAnd I managed to work around the issue for myself19:15
