bedwinI'm experiencing the issue described in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/179492211:58
ubottuLaunchpad bug 1794922 in linux (Ubuntu) "lubuntu 18.10 x86 (32bit) image fails to load "ehci-pci 0000:00:a.7: dma_direct_map_sg: overflow 0x000000016e3f3000+2048 of device mask ffffffff" repeats" [High,Confirmed]11:58
bedwinHow can I make a launchpad account that is not tied to my personal public email account - to add in Affects me too, and to follow the bug?11:59
bedwinIt looks like this was fixed upstream by by kernel maintainers, and adopted by the Debian folks (at least forthcoming). Might we ever see a new build of the ISO used for install / live DVD?12:00

guivercbedwin, I doubt we'll see a new 18.10 x86 ISO  (looking at bug report now)12:21
bedwin_guiverc, You look like the original bug reporter. OK. Thanks. I guess I'll try and64 or another flavor.12:26
guivercyeah I am  (testing on the dell 755 mentioned in that report now; but 19.04 x86 iso)12:27
bedwin_I do have a really old launchpad account. Might add some notes to the ticket. I'm using a real Acer laptop, the 5810T.12:27
guiverci recall some of the testing of that bug; but I can't recall if final 18.10 iso was good or not (i'm not going to write an iso now; I'm heading to bed; just trying whatever is on the thumb-drive here ... nah it has the issue & i'm pretty sure it's 19.04 x86)12:31
bedwin_Thank you for the follow-up. Goodnight. I could only find the amd64 Alpha release for Lubuntu using public searches.12:33
guivercthey stopped producing x86 daily ISO's in mid-late dec-2018; the x86 19.04 ISO is from back then  (I used it earlier today)12:34
guivercyeah the ISO (20181220) boots fine in a real x86 box; but not the x86_64  :(12:39

Guest72715hi you all. when I use the defaut lubuntu file manager I've noticed that sometimes this file manager stops working. Then all icons of my desktop dissapear. The only way to recover them all is rebooting the computer. Is there another way of recovering them?18:31

ubottuEn la mayoría de los canales de Ubuntu, se habla sólo en inglés. Si busca ayuda en español entre al canal #ubuntu-es; escriba " /join #ubuntu-es " (sin comillas) y presione intro.20:28

ArmyMan007Hey :) I need some help with my Lubuntu.21:45
diogenes_!ask21:46
ubottuPlease don't ask to ask a question, simply ask the question (all on ONE line and in the channel, so that others can read and follow it easily). If anyone knows the answer they will most likely reply. :-) See also !patience21:46
ArmyMan007Long story short: when I ran the LiveCD version of Lubuntu 18.04 LTS, I was able to see my WiFi proprietary device but couldn't install it. After I've installed Lubuntu, it won't seem to find it the device at all. What can I do?21:47
diogenes_ArmyMan007, to run the driver manager, but you need to be conected to the internet21:48
ArmyMan007I'm running Lubuntu on an HP Mini 110 1014NR21:48
ArmyMan007diogenes_: there's no way for me to do that without internet connection?21:49
ArmyMan007Before installation the driver was found but not installed. That's so weird :/21:50
ArmyMan007Anyone?21:52
ArmyMan007No one?21:57
diogenes_ArmyMan007, there is a way22:02
diogenes_it's called tethering22:02
ArmyMan007diogenes_: How can I thether if I don't have WiFi adapter installed on my Lubuntu?22:08
ArmyMan007That doesn't make any sense to me22:08
diogenes_ArmyMan007, tethering means when you share the internet from your smartphone via usb cabble22:10
diogenes_cable*22:10
ArmyMan007Oh...... hmm didn't think about it. I'll try it22:12
ArmyMan007OK. Got the tethering working. Now what?22:15
diogenes_ArmyMan007, now open the driver manager22:17
diogenes_and see if you get any driver recommended for your wireless card22:18
ArmyMan007In progress of updating, taking my time here hehe22:31
ArmyMan007Wait! Don't go! :(22:35
