freakyyhi all. im having a problem while upgrading to dingo. it says a file in a package it wants to install is already provided by another package and that it cant overwrite. any possible solution? did --fix-broken install but didnt help.01:59
freakyyhttps://hastebin.com/wuhirakuqu.sql <-- here the error but i have the error in german sadly02:00
tomreynfreakyy: how were you upgrading actually?02:03
tomreynand where from02:04
tomreynand maybe also why02:06
freakyyfrom 18.10 - i did do-release-update -d but as it went really really slow like onyl a few kb/s download, i stopped it (ctrl+c) and tried to change mirror. that didnt work so i restarted but the downloads went fast then02:12
freakyynow this error02:12
freakyyafter doing sudo apt upgrade02:12
freakyymaybe i need to do dist-upgrade first?02:13
freakyyor full-upgrade ?02:13
tomreynwell this output looks like either oyu or the do-release-upgrade -d you ran and then cancelled (if i got you right) changed apt-sources.list to point disco already, but did not download and install the packages.02:14
tomreynor not all of them.02:14
freakyywell anyway, it wants me to do apt --fix-broken install first02:14
tomreynyou will know what you did.02:15
freakyyyes i canceled while downloading02:15
freakyyok so what can id o?02:15
freakyyi did sudo apt update02:15
freakyybut that didnt help02:15
tomreyni doubt upgrades are any more supported than installing from scratch at this point. rather less. i recommend against it.02:15
freakyyhmm02:15
freakyyso i have to reinstall?02:15
tomreynis this a serious installation or are ouy just playing around and testing in a VM?02:16
tomreynin the former case i suggest you install a supported release instead.02:17
freakyywell its more a serious installation02:17
freakyywell, i wanted the newest gnome ;D02:18
tomreynwhy would you upgrade that to 19.04 pre-release?02:18
freakyyok i have no chance to downgrade so i cant do anythign without reinstalling?02:18
freakyyit hought 19.04 has it ;D02:18
freakyy3.32 gnome02:18
tomreynwhy do you need that newer gnome version?02:18
freakyyi just wanted it ;D02:19
freakyyloast tries went smooth02:19
freakyyupgrading to dev version ubuntu02:19
tomreynokay, there's your mistake ;)02:19
tomreyni'd say you want to reinstall02:19
freakyyok im downloading the iso already ;D02:19
tomreynyou could probably fix this dependency mayhem but i won't spend time on trying to help make an upgrade toa pre-release version happen.02:20
tomreyn!latest02:20
ubottuPackages in Ubuntu may not be the latest. Ubuntu aims for stability, so "latest" may not be a good idea. Post-release updates are only considered if they are fixes for security vulnerabilities, high impact bug fixes, or unintrusive bug fixes with substantial benefit. See also !backports, !sru, and !ppa.02:20
tomreynhave a nice day, i'll be away from keyboard.02:21
freakyyok thanks a lot ;D02:21
edenHey I just gave a try at installing disco-desktop-amd64.iso 2019-03-21 07:58 on physical hardware. It installed booted to login, and if I login it takes a second then returns to login, if I login again it freezes.17:33
edenany known behavior around this?17:33
edenor is there a procedure to get data and submit it  on this? My general setup is 4770k, nvidia gtx 970. I selected full disk normal install include updates and third party software on install17:34
=== viv`d is now known as vivid
tomreynif you'll remove the nvidia card it'll probably boot fine. ;-)18:51
tomreynyou can try booting with nouveau.modeset=018:52
tomreyneden: ^18:52
Peppepeden: I was also thrown back to login. For me it was GNOME tweaks from 18.10 that caused it, deleting all of them through tty fixed it21:43
hggdhand I just deleted the shell extensions, and re-logged in under Gnome21:46
