[12:59] hi i have tried upgrading to 19.04 ubuntu studio and upon installing kxstudio repos my sound program doesn't install any more, what can i use to control the sound now? [12:59] my program that lets me choose which device to use etc [12:59] sound works but i can connect through carla [13:00] sufy, 19.04 hasn't even been released. you are basically beta testing. and since it's not released, it's not supported here. [13:00] yes i am a developer so just trying to understand the system [13:01] what is the name of the program that controls devices in US [13:01] ah. a Dev?! respect [13:01] i dont develop ubuntu [13:02] respect with a small "r" then. [13:03] looks like i don't need that software to be honest [13:03] I would guess your repos might be misconfigured [13:04] i can just use other things to control it alsa_out program [13:04] do you use ubuntu studio for art of any type [13:04] just curious [13:04] wait, what? you said you had an install problem? [13:05] US is my daily driver for audio/video at times [13:05] my issue was when i install kxstudio which is a separate repo with good software it broke a ubuntu studio 19.04 feature [13:05] but i worked around it [13:05] that program for quickly changing devices was good though [13:05] might have to find out what it was called [13:05] when you click sound icon up top right and click sound settings [13:05] not sure what name of that binary was [13:08] i think it is xfce causing issue [14:28] cfhowlett: FYI, Cadence breaks Ubuntu Studio Controls, which has the same functionality. Cadence is very intrusive with PulseAudio. We highly discourage adding the KXStudio repos for this reason, and I'm working on making it so that there is no reason to do so. [14:28] cfhowlett: Also, feel free to use this in the future: [14:29] !ubuntustudiocontrols [14:29] er... [14:29] !ubuntustudio-controls [14:29] Ubuntu Studio Controls is the application through which audio is configured in Ubuntu Studio. It configures Jack, sets the CPU governor, and ensures the user has realtime audio permissions. For more info, see !jack and https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuStudio/UbuntuStudioControls [14:43] Eickmeyer, noted but sufy was the one in need not I. [14:43] good luck with the fix, though! [14:46] cfhowlett: I was just letting you know. :) [14:46] cfhowlett: It's for that reason, that if someone adds the kxstudio repos, our policy is that it's no longer supported. [14:47] So, there's really nothing to fix. === rapidwave is now known as skinux === skinux is now known as rapidwave === rapidwave is now known as skinux === skinux is now known as rapidwave [16:28] @suffy I think there is a UbuntuStudio dev channel you might want to join as well [17:06] @designbybeck [@suffy I think there is a UbuntuStudio dev channel you might want to join as wel …], He left IRC shortly after his last message. [17:57] @designbybeck [@suffy I think there is a UbuntuStudio dev channel you might want to join as wel …], Also, the dev channel is not for support. [17:59] well it sounded like he might want to do some dev stuff for Studio, so that is why I said that [18:01] I understand. He's a dev for something else that was asking for help with something. I can understand the confusion, though.
