bdmurraybug 1821677 was tagged by doko and but it was on 4/115:15
ubottubug 1821677 in glibc (Ubuntu) "dl_open segment fault in ubuntu18.10 glibc2.28" [High,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/182167715:15
vorlonI see there's a new bug reporting a segfault in a glic we're not shipping15:15

vorloninfinity: the bug report says 2.2815:16
infinityWhich is in cosmic.15:17
vorlonbut it's been marked dd-incoming15:17
vorlonis it also reproducible in disco?15:17
infinityThat would be doko.15:17
infinityI'll have a look at that today/tomorrow (doctor/etc premitting today) before I do the disco upload.15:18
vorloninfinity: so you think we should commit to fixing it in disco?15:18
vorlon(I can't reproduce it here on either cosmic or disco)15:18
infinityCan't reproduce with their test case?15:19
infinityWell, that might make it harder. :P15:19
infinityI was committing to look, not to fix if I can't repro.15:19
vorloninfinity: I'm not using their so, which I don't see attached15:19
vorlonmaybe it's in this tarball15:19
vorlonanyway, I guess we can tentatively commit and uncommit later15:19

vorloninfinity: (I was trying to repro from the bug description, not the attached tarall)15:21
vorlonb15:21
infinityMight have been a mismerge of that patch, or just needs more ifdef arm.15:21
dokoI can confirm this one, renaming the exe helped15:22
vorloncyphermox: ^^ is that not fixed in the disco dailies?15:22
vorlonrelated to missing mmx6415:22

cyphermox3/2015:23

cyphermoxspot checking on cdimage.u.c shows that ubuntu-mate and ubuntu dailies have the file15:25

bdmurraythat's all I noticed in dd-incoming15:25
cyphermoxyup15:25
vorlonyeah I've followed up on the bug15:25
vorlonI'm not bothering to target to disco because if there is a bug, it's probably not in a package in the archive15:26
vorlonanyway I will follow through15:26
vorlonbdmurray: what aout LP: #1815599 and LP: #1812688 that are on the report?15:26
ubottuLaunchpad bug 1815599 in Ubuntu on IBM z Systems "multipath shows '#:#:#:#' for iscsi device after error injection" [Medium,Triaged] https://launchpad.net/bugs/181559915:26

bdmurraythe multipath one is incomplete, has it been updated?15:27
vorlonxnox nominated the first15:27
vorlonno15:27
vorlonso I guess we can ignore15:27
vorlonthe other one, I tried to close and seb128 called me on it because I didn't read bdmurray's previous comment right15:27
xnoxvorlon, the multipath one was handindled by cpaelzer a bit15:27
vorlonbdmurray: I think we should decline LP: #1812688, if we were willing to override the test to ignore the failure, it must not be critical enough to block a release15:28

bdmurrayI'm looking at apport15:30
vorlonxnox: fuse-zip status?15:30
dokog inggs pinged several times about scipy15:30
vorlonI see you merged a new upstream version of fuse-zip, so that it can now fail its tests consistently on all archs15:30
infinityvorlon, doko: Should cross-toolchain-base-whatever be addded to huge packages in autopkgtest, or should the massively massive (with hugeness) rebuild test maybe be pared down?15:31
vorlondoko: I know he pinged me while I was on vacation and not in a position to do anything with it.  If someone has a clear rationale for ignoring that test failure, MPs welcome15:31
xnoxvorlon, didn't get to it, but also not critical to migrate as far as i remember. yes which is an "improvement" =) my next trick was going to be to cherrypick fuse patch from upstream, or comment out / ignore the test that doesn't do the right clean up.15:31
xnoxvorlon, skipping one test, makes it all pass locally.15:31
cyphermoxinfinity: +1, I think?15:31
xnox(the test that tries to setup invalid/broken state, and assert on it)15:32
cyphermoxcross-toolchain-base-mipsen?15:32
dokoinfinity: it's building exactly *one* cross toolchain. you could reduce the load further by not building the multilibs15:32
xnoxnot sure what i should do about fuse-zip. horum.15:32
* xnox tries to trow things into bileto ppa, to make it stick.15:32
dokobut vorlon wanted to look why it takes so much longer in some builds15:32
vorlonxnox: "not critical to migrate" - someone in this channel uplodaed fuse with the intent that it release, and you committed to resolve this15:32
dokoxnox: should we remove fuse & fuse-zip from -proposed?15:33
vorlonxnox: so if you're following up, all good15:33
xnoxvorlon, yes, and when i questioned why fuse was synced post debian import freeze no reply followed. doko - do you recall why we need/want new fuse?15:33
xnoxvorlon, but kind of can kicking, removing fuse now from -proposed will just come back in a couple of weeks.15:33
dokoI forgot, it was something to fulfill b-d's probably15:34
xnoxand well needs to be folved now, or later.15:34
xnoxdoko, ah, and now they are built, we don't need it anymore, right ?! =)))))))) har har15:34
vorlonwe wouldn't know, since we can't launch new rebuild tests15:34
xnox=)15:34
gaughenvorlon, lies.  ;-)15:35
vorlonheh15:35
gaughenso what are we doing with fuse?15:37
gaughenremoving it?15:37
infinityRemoving it is pointless.15:37
gaughenso what are we doing with fuse?15:37
vorloninfinity, doko: cross-toolchain-base: the issue was the variance in build times, which doko pointed to as an indicator of a problem in the autopkgtest infra; but I don't think giving it a bigger testbed prevents us from still doing that analysis15:38
vorlongaughen: xnox has a list of next steps for getting it migratable15:38
gaughenk15:38
vorlonand sphinx is still there15:38
xnoxvorlon, que?15:38
xnoxis it only me that gets very choppy audio15:40
xnoxvorlon, i can't hear you at all...15:40
waveformxnox, audio's fine for me15:41
vorlonxnox: sphinx, my recollection is that you were going to follow up on #ubuntu-release to sort out what to do about sphinx vs webkit2gtk, and I don't think that happened15:42
xnoxvorlon, we did talk about it with the desktop team, but i can't remember if we conclude something or not.15:43
vorlonxnox: I didn't see a conclusion and it didn't get fixed in the archive :)15:49
vorlonxnox: shall we try again to take this to #ubuntu-release after this meeting? ;)15:49

vorlonso, since snaps don't work under wsl, should the lxd deb be removed as part of the upgrade?16:01
bdmurraydon't we do that with gnome-calculator and other desktop packages?16:03
xnoxvorlon, i think that's valid, at least for now. at the moment the new .deb fails to configure, blocking upgrade.16:03
xnoxvorlon, and it may happen on non-wsl systems too.16:03
xnoxvorlon, imho the error code path on snapd-less systems when doing do-release-upgrade is currently very bad.16:04

vlijmAsk Ubuntu active user20:38
vlijmWhat can I say?20:39

wxlGreat!20:41
wxlAnyone here want to give kudos and support of Jacob?20:42
bashfulrobotIs it appropriate if I left a testimonial?20:42
wxlSure, doesn't hurt :)20:42

bashfulrobotWell in that case....20:42
* popey arrives20:43
Kiloshi popey20:44
diddledandamn. when you speak ill of the devil20:44

diddledanwxl: in his underwear? or was that Superman?20:44
wxldiddledan: I'm not sure whether or not popey has Batman underwear20:44
diddledan... must be professional. :-p20:45
popeyI just dropped by to say "holy cow" at the amount of work Jacob does on askubuntu. It's very impressive.20:45
fossfreedom\o ... happy to endorse Jacob - as project lead of UB have watched with interest how Jacob has made UB what it is today.  Equally in AU land - active and dynamic and eveyone just loves his well thought out contributions. Credit to Ubuntu20:45
vlijm:) thanks a lot!20:45
bashfulrobotJacob (when he joined UB) came in mostly writing applets in Python. When we have a need to move these over to Vala - it did not even phase him even though one can argue over the merits of each language. We all have our fav tools. He dove right in. Continues to drive new features into the ecosystem that people outside of Ubuntu take advantage of. Does his best to support there as well. It is not uncommon for us to see Majaro users20:46
bashfulrobotin our forums who use some of the applets he has written. He is very active on a consistent basis in our team channels, Ask Ubuntu, our Discourse forum, etc. He spends the time.20:46
vlijmThing is, always difficult to tell about oneself I guess, so please fire away20:46

wxlHello and welcome to the Ubuntu Membership Review Board meeting! The wiki page for the Review Boards are available here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Membership/Boards21:10
wxlWe will attempt to get through all of the applicants that have added themselves to that list before today's meeting. If we are unable to make it through the entire list due to time constraints, then at the next meeting we will pick up where we left off.21:10
wxlThe format for the meeting is as follows: We will go through the list of applicants one by one, by date of application (FIFO).21:10
wxlEach applicant should introduce themselves (1-5 sentences) and provide links to their Ubuntu Wiki page. After the introduction the members of the Membership Review Board will review the pages and, if needed, ask the applicant further questions.21:10
wxlDuring this time it is encouraged for other members of the community to show their support for the applicant. Do not be alarmed if the members of the Membership Review Board are quiet during this time; they are most likely reading wiki/launchpad/forum/other pages and deciding how they are going to vote.21:10
wxlWhen the board is ready to vote, they will publicly vote in the channel with either +1, 0, or -1 (for membership, abstain, and against membership, respectively). If the majority of the voting board members vote +1, then the applicant is now an official Ubuntu member! (feel free congratulate them!)21:10
wxlNow, with any further ado, lets get started with the first applicant...21:10
diddledanoh you found the script :-)21:10
wxlyep. always improving :)21:10
wxlThat said, Chris, fire away!21:11
guivercwiki: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/guiverc21:11
guivercHi, my name is Chris, first involved with Ubuntu with UWN (issue #425, July 2015) with 125 now contribs.  I'm a medically retired coder (s390/z-series now) with pain issues, so at times concentration is lacking..21:13
wxlThanks for the intro, Chris!21:14
wxlIs anyone here in support of Chris?21:14
guivercI haven't (& wouldn't) asked anyone - if that's were you're heading wxl21:16
Kiloswxl  you know Chris?21:16
wxlOk, well just checking.21:16
wxlKilos: yeah Chris has long been a heavy QA tester. Like across the entire gamut of flavors. He's also very good at writing and testing and updating bugs. It's hard not to see his name mentioned on Ask Ubuntu. More recently, he's been helping with Lubuntu and has been an utter Godsend. He's an all around great guy :)21:18
Wild_ManChris does outstanding work for the UWN and has for several years now21:18
Kilosty wxl  that alone eases my mind21:19
