[00:42] Will we see Falkon 3.1.0 in the repo any time soon? === kubuntu is now known as Guest62296 [02:14] DavidHNascimento was added by: DavidHNascimento === sneaky_ is now known as sneaky === himcesjf_ is now known as him-cesjf === jacky is now known as jalcine [06:02] Good morning [09:55] 'Morning folks === himcesjf_ is now known as him-cesjf [13:04] Afternoon everyone. I was wondering Valerie, when would Kubuntu 19.04 be released? The stable version. Should I install the beta version and later update to the stable version? I have a desktop with a discrete AMD R9 GPU. I'm wondering if it would be stable enough for me to use. @Valoriez === Lord_of_Life_ is now known as Lord_of_Life [13:05] EEElton 19.04 release date is tomorrow [13:06] I have 18.10 currently installed, but it's a bit unstable with high Ram and CPU usage. I have upgraded and downgraded the Plasma editions several times so I think perhaps that's what causes it. [13:07] Per https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DiscoDingo/ReleaseSchedule April 18th [13:07] @BluesKaj, Oh great. I should wait to download the stable version tomorrow then. Thanks. [13:08] Is there much difference between the beta today, and the stable version tomorrow? [13:08] not much , everything is on freeze atm [13:09] Mm I see. [13:09] I imagine 19.10 would incorporate Plasma 5.16 [13:10] nope, it's 5.15.4 [13:11] I'm on 19.04 [13:11] @EEElton, Correct [13:11] 19.03 has 5.15 [13:12] *19.04 [13:13] I'm really impressed with Kubuntu. Been using it for a year now. While I think the UI widgets can look a bit clunky, that's plasma fault. I think overall Kubuntu OS really provides a polished Linux OS. Quite stable too with incremental and necessary updates. [13:13] @BluesKaj, How is the experience of 19.04 so far? [13:15] EEElton very stable so far for me, but my HW is mostly intel, no nvidia etc so your experience may differ [13:22] @BluesKaj, 19.10 would have Plasma 5.16 then? I should check the wiki. Though it makes sense to incorporate 5.16 in 19.10 and fix the bugs for LTS 20.04 [13:22] @BluesKaj, Ah.... Right....I have an AMD GPU. My motherboard has a realtek sound driver as well. The sound isn't very high on Linux, but quite decent on Windows. [13:25] EEElton, open alsamixer in the terminal and set the vol ctrls you use to at least 80% [13:26] @BluesKaj, Oh I have tried that. That controls the master volume as well right? [13:26] yes [13:26] same goes for pavucontrol if you use it [13:27] Yeah I figured. [13:27] You'll update to the stable release once it's out tomorrow right? [13:30] think the release I'm using is mostly up to date already, but i I update/upgrade every day anyway [13:30] @BluesKaj, You upgrade to a new version everytime? [13:30] How stable is the experience so far? [13:31] What tips can you give? [13:32] not a new version everytime , the packages are updated or upgraded, kernel updates are less frequent [13:33] @BluesKaj, But you do base updates when it's out right? [13:34] EEElton, they point release updates are always availble in the repos if that's what you mean [13:35] !repos [13:35] The packages in Kubuntu are divided into various sections. See https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Repositories/Kubuntu - See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/RecommendedSources for the recommended way to set up your repositories [13:36] EEElton ^ [13:38] Ah I see. [13:39] Clarify for me, if you will - the base releases contain only the package updates and the kernel updated. Anything else I'm missing? [13:42] https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SoftwareUpdates [13:44] Thanks for this. === kubuntu is now known as Guest81223 === d__ is now known as Guest19959 [15:05] Aleksa Braun was added by: Aleksa Braun [15:05] Naked foto @privatphotobot === Guest19959 is now known as davide === barak is now known as bak === ewan is now known as sprocket === sprocket is now known as ewantrike === ewantrike is now known as ekay === abel_ is now known as andres_mad === andres_mad is now known as anamad === ledeni_ is now known as ledeni
