snadgemy body is ready ;)01:32
snadgeis someone going to post confetti and balloons in here when the cdimages are up?01:58
Bashing-om!party | snadge 02:01
ubottusnadge: Please remember that #ubuntu, #kubuntu, #xubuntu, #edubuntu, and #lubuntu are support channels. To countdown to !disco release and then party once it happens, join #ubuntu-release-party - For in-person parties, see http://loco.ubuntu.com/events/global/3339/02:01
ZeZuwhat is the correct place to voice 'annoyances' for cosmic?02:59
ZeZuit's been a while02:59
EickmeyerZeZu: While Cosmic is a currently suported release, you're more than welcome to ask for support in the main #ubuntu channel. If it's a bug...03:01
Eickmeyer!bug | ZeZu03:01
ubottuZeZu: If you find a bug in Ubuntu or any of its official !flavors, please report it using the command « ubuntu-bug <package> » - See https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs for other ways to report bugs.03:01
ZeZusorry disco03:02
ZeZuthe codenames get confusing after you've gone through 10 or so03:02
EickmeyerWell, this is for support, not for voicing annoyances. If you feel something needs to be fixed, a bug report is the way.03:02
ZeZuthat's my meaning,  not everything is a bug03:02
EickmeyerWe also accept yy.mm in lieu of codenames (19.04, for example).03:03
ZeZubut some things are quite annoying03:03
EickmeyerWell, not everyone is a developer, so it's likely to fall on deaf ears here.03:03
ZeZutrue, but people may have some idea where to voice an opinion03:03
ZeZui'm a developer myself, but that doesn't mean much these days for linux 03:03
ZeZunot in the grand scheme of things03:04
EickmeyerI'm a developer for Ubuntu Studio, so I can only address things there, and even that is narrow in scope.03:04
EickmeyerZeZu: Would you mind joining me in #ubuntu-discuss?03:05
ZeZusome of just minor things really,  like the new window system resizing windows from center of window/widget is terribly annoying03:05

erle-Is the release schedule on time?06:34
erle-Or are there any major stopper bugs?06:34
valorieerle-: look at http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/milestones/402/builds/190334/testcases for bug reports06:53
valoriehover to see the description06:53
valorieerrr, http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/milestones/403/builds06:54
valorienone of them look like blockers to me06:56
esrohey, what hour 19.04 releases ?07:55
valoriewhen it's done07:57
acheronukhard to predict, but probably not before midday UTC. historically the release announcement have gone about at times that vary from early to late afternoon, to evening or late evening. depends how it goes08:00
esrook ok, good to know08:11
solsTiCehi. Can I do a do-release-upgrade while using apt-offline ?08:27
ducassesolsTiCe: probably not, it does more than just upgrade packages08:34
solsTiCewould be easier to do that with Live USB anyway ?09:14
solsTiCeducasse: ^09:14
ducassesolsTiCe: afaik you can't upgrade from a usb, you need to reinstall09:17
jStefanyou used to be able to use DVDs are source, it would be like a local cache for some of the packages, but having the online app was still recommended, as not ALL the packages have to be on the DVD. and I believe that was with the "alternate" install isos.09:21
jStefanas source*09:21
jStefanonline apt*09:22
solsTiCeoh my09:30
jStefani think the alternate server install can still be used as an apt repo09:31
lunaUbuntu 19.04 Release party at TG LAN in Norway later tonight09:31
solsTiCeok09:32
solsTiCejStefan: ok09:32
solsTiCeI am downloading 19.04 with torrent. If I donate now on ubuntu.com, would my donation will be counted as a 18.10 dl  ? 09:33
solsTiCeoh I can tweak the url and change it to use 19.04 !09:34
jStefanhmmm, can't you donate on ubuntu.com without triggering a specific download choice?09:35
ducassesolsTiCe: 19.04 isn't out yet09:35
solsTiCeI am seeing iso on http://releases.ubuntu.com/19.04/09:35
solsTiCejStefan: I would like but I can't find it so far09:36
ducassecheck the date on the iso, it's a daily09:36
solsTiCeducasse: f**. are you sure ? it is as if it was released. that's confusing. it should be marked daily09:37
solsTiCethe torrent date is 2019-04-18 05:0809:38
ducassetorrent, maybe, but not the iso itself09:39
solsTiCeducasse: may be there is no change on iso since the 16th that's all09:39
ducasseit's not out until the release announcement09:39
solsTiCeducasse: check 18.10. it's the same09:40
jStefanthey can at any time do a last minute change to the iso, and you would have an old iso09:40
solsTiCeyeah09:40
jStefani suggest you check the checksum of what you have, with what's online after it's been officially announced.09:41
jStefanand even though you might have gotten ahead and downloaded it, wait for the official announce (and checksums) before actually installing it.09:42
ducasseif you've downloaded now you can just use zsync to get any changes09:44
solsTiCeducasse: ah yes. that makes more sense. some kind of binary diff ?09:46
ducasseyep09:49
solsTiCenever use it. would be my first time ;-)09:50
erle-release is already online: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/19.04/release/11:12

lotuspsychjeTheSilentLink: apt-cache search java13:00
TheSilentLinkjava8 isn't there13:01
lotuspsychjedoes that fit your question?13:02
TheSilentLinkyes so all programs that require older versions of java no longer supported13:02
lotuspsychjeTheSilentLink: maybe lets await final release, and see the releasenotes13:03
tomreynopenjdk 8 is no longer supported generally. it's just supported by ubuntu on older releases.13:06
TheSilentLinkthat is a shame the minecraft launcher requires it to install13:07
tomreyntalk to its developers, they should support the current platform.13:08
lotuspsychjeTheSilentLink: https://linuxconfig.org/how-to-install-minecraft-on-ubuntu-18-04-bionic-beaver-linux13:08
TheSilentLinkThat deb requires java8 to be installed and it says the snap is no longer available13:14
tomreynyo may be able to find a ppa13:16
tomreynthere is also a package "nvidia-openjdk-8-jre" in disco's "multiverse" repository, not sure whether this will help, but you could look into it.13:17
tomreynu77 is pretty old, though13:17
tomreynu212 is current13:17
isomaristable is released. :-):-)13:40
isomarioh. someone beat me to it. :-(:-(13:40

lunaisomari: was pretty fast here but at a LAN party with 1gbit internet14:01
luna:P14:01
lunaso helping seed a little i think14:01
hggdhtorrents spread the load; they _may_ be faster14:02
lordcirth_isomari, it varies, but often yes. It also puts less load on the volunteer servers as well14:02
OerHeksisomari, i believe so, no limit on the server14:02
isomariok, torrent it is ...:-)14:02
lunabut can't update from RC1 to Stable before i get home, turned of my PC at home14:03

=== dax changed the topic of #ubuntu+1 to: Welcome to #ubuntu+1, the support channel for pre-release versions of Ubuntu. tsimonq2Well, Eoan is official.15:40
evdubshi - it was suggested that i ask the following here (i have asked in #ubuntu as well) - i just upgraded to ubuntu 19.04 and i had a postgresql-10 installation. it looks like the upgrade process marked postgresql 10 as no longer supported and removed the database data during the "upgrade" - anyone else happen to experience this?22:43
OerHeksevdubs, as 19.04 is released, you can ask in the main #ubuntu channel, or better #ubuntu-server22:50
evdubsOerHeks, will do - thanks22:51
