willcookemorning gang01:04
sarnoldgood morning willcooke :)01:07
willcookehi sarnold!01:07
sarnoldhow's taipei treating you? :)01:07
willcookesarnold, it's great!  The view from the office is pretty amazing.  It's hot as balls though, which I'm not used to01:11
willcookeit does rain a lot though, and they have good tea01:11
sarnoldwillcooke: I'm sad I didn't make time to get to the office during debconf last year :( I also had crazy heat, I hoped this time of year you might be getting something more pleasant :)01:12
willcookeI think it's probably pretty cool compared to high summer, only mid 30s01:13
sarnoldthat still sounds like a lot :)01:13
willcookeyeah, it's about 15 too much :)01:28
sarnoldI got accustomed to leaving a *lot* of time between things so I could go slowly and get lots of water at the destination01:28
willcookehehe01:31
dufluOh, morning willcooke01:36
jibelhi all01:37
willcookemorning pieq01:45
pieqhey willcooke :)01:45
willcookemorning duflu, how goes?01:45
dufluwillcooke, feeling refreshed today. Is Taipei fun? :)01:46
dufluOh, "hot as balls"01:47
dufluAnother unit of measurement learned from management01:47
dufluMorning jibel01:49
Eickmeyerwillcooke: You're up really early!02:31
willcookeEickmeyer, hey!  I'm in UTC+8 this week02:32
Eickmeyerwillcooke: Dang! You're 13 hours ahead of me. I'm UTC-7.02:32
willcookeoh wait02:32
willcookeoh02:32
willcookeerm02:32
EickmeyerOr is that 15 hours...02:32
willcooketimezones are hard02:32
willcookeI'm in Taipei, so whatever that is, and you can do the sums XD02:33
Eickmeyerwillcooke: That's closer to UTC+10.02:33
dufluNo it is GMT+802:33
duflusame as Hong Kong, Western Australia and much of China02:33
EickmeyerYeah, I just googled that.02:34
EickmeyerStill, 15 hours ahead of me.02:34
pieqEickmeyer, where are you? :)02:34
Eickmeyerpieq: near Seattle.02:58
pieqEickmeyer, OK! I live in Taipei, and it's always very hard to compute $MY_LOCAL_TIME - 15 to get the time on the West coast of the US :)03:01
Eickmeyerpieq: Hey! Nice! Glad I could help. :)03:01
pieqEickmeyer, and by the way, thanks a lot for the heavy duty stuff you're doing for Ubuntu Studio. I just tried v19.04 yesterday cause a friend of mine would like to start using Linux, but he's a musician, so I think he'd befenit from Ubuntu Studio03:02
pieqI'm still debating whether to use Ubuntu 19.04 + ubuntustudio-installer, or go with Ubuntu Studio 19.04 directly. Does ubuntustudio-installer include JACK configuration to re-route PulseAudio through JACK??03:03
Eickmeyerpieq: Well, I sure hope he'll benefit. I'm an audio engineer, so I know exactly what it's like to support musicians.03:03
Eickmeyerpieq: Yes. Configuration in Ubuntu Studio Controls.03:04
Eickmeyer!ubuntustudio-controls | pieq03:04
ubot5`pieq: Ubuntu Studio Controls is the application through which audio is configured in Ubuntu Studio. It configures Jack, sets the CPU governor, and ensures the user has realtime audio permissions. For more info, see !jack and https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuStudio/UbuntuStudioControls03:04
Eickmeyerubuntustudio-controls is a dependency of ubuntustudio-installler.03:06
pieqEickmeyer, oh I see! Thanks.03:07
pieqI'm still not sure what to do then :) GNOME is more eye-candy than XFCE, and he will get a brand new laptop, so I know hardware resources is not going to be a problem03:07
EickmeyerHave you /seen/ the default theming in Ubuntu Studio?03:08
EickmeyerAlso, I add the compton compositor in lieu of the default Xfce compositor, so I get more eyecandy for myself.03:09
pieqEickmeyer, I tried a live USB yesterday. It's very nice indeed. I guess I'll show both options to my friend and ask him what he prefers03:09
EickmeyerThat said, I'm not the greatest fan of Xfce. XD03:10
EickmeyerYep. Never hurts to have both. :)03:10
pieqwillcooke, https://blog.delouw.ch/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/mok_enroll0.png → Do you know what happens if you don't "press any key" within the 10 seconds? I mean... the device will start without enrolling the new key, so the modules won't be accepted, but how can you re-run the MOK enrollment process then?06:16
didrocksgood morning06:16
willcookepieq, sorry, don't know off the top of my head - I'd have to test it.06:18

pieqwillcooke, ok, don't bother, I'll try to figure it out06:19
willcookepieq, I'd be interested to know what you find out06:19
didrockshey willcooke, pieq06:22
dufluMorning didrocks and oSoMoN06:48
didrockshey duflu, oSoMoN06:49
oSoMoNgood afternoon duflu, salut didrocks06:51
willcookesil2100, nice work on the dkms bug, thank you!06:55
=== pstolowski|afk is now known as pstolowski
sil2100willcooke: thanks! Too bad the bug was found so late, would have been a nice fix to have on the isos07:16
dufluThat's odd. I can use bugzilla on project 'gnome-shell' again07:22
dufluI guess all it needed was removing the alias from the new gitlab bug watch07:22
pieqwillcooke, interesting... so if you don't react fast enough to enroll the keys, the system starts, but the nvidia DKMS are not enabled, so you end up in a weird state where "Additional Drivers" thinks you're using nvidia-418, where you can see a nvidia-settings tool and even select the PRIME profile from it, but actually no matter what you select there (nvidia or intel), it's always intel that does the rendering (as seen in glxinfo | grep07:38
pieqrenderer), and in syslog there are multiple error messages about nvidia07:38
willcookepieq, erk.  Please could you log a bug?  If you re-do the process does it start working?  I should do, but...07:42
pieqwillcooke, I just tried: (1) enabling nouveau drivers and rebooting, then (2) enabling nvidia-418 → I'm asked to input a password for the MOK key enrollment process, and this time I enroll the key properly and everything works as expected. I'm gonna log a bug07:45
marcustomlinsonMorning all07:53
pieqwillcooke, against what component should I file this issue?07:54
willcookemorning marcustomlinson07:54
didrockshey marcustomlinson07:54
willcookepieq, not really sure, maybe https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mokutil07:55
willcookepieq, and perhaps nvidia-drivers too?  They can always untag it as needed07:56

ricotzhello desktopers :)08:36
ricotzcould someone pick up https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/seahorse/commit/d40a6c9397d9d9a12b5de514552173252dbe110a08:36
oSoMoNhey ricotz08:37
ricotzoSoMoN, hi08:41
seb128hey ricotz08:42
oSoMoNricotz, marcustomlinson joined the desktop team yesterday, and he is going to take over the maintenance of libreoffice packages (both debs and snaps)08:43
seb128ricotz, do you know if it's reported on launchpad?08:43
ricotzoSoMoN, oh, I see08:46
ricotzseb128, I don't think so08:46
seb128ricotz, it's probably more for e-serie than a SRU then?08:47
ricotzseb128, this is a SRU for sure08:48
ricotz3.32-1 is affected08:48
Laneythat commit is in 3.32 branch right?08:48
Laneyany special reason to need it now rather than wait for a release?08:49
ricotzI would have assumed there is a 3.32.1 already, but I can ask if there will be one shortly08:50
Laneyschedule says may 8th for next stable08:50
ricotzimo, this bug is kind of a show stopper08:50
Laneyif you want to prepare the SRU I'll sponsor it08:51
Laneyproperly formatted bug, debdiff08:52
ricotzI am going to wait for an upsteam answer regarding a release08:54
oSoMoNanyone know how to set/change the bug supervisor for a source package in launchpad?08:56
seb128oSoMoN, 'supervisor'?08:57
oSoMoNseb128, yes, as referred to in https://help.launchpad.net/Bugs/Statuses#Only_available_to_the_bug_supervisor08:58
seb128oSoMoN, I think that's a by-project08:58
seb128so for 'Ubuntu'08:58
seb128not by source package08:58
oSoMoNthat makes sense, but marcustomlinson tells me he's not allowed to set the status to triaged for libreoffice bugs (the source package), is he missing a team membership?08:59
Laneythat's https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuBugControl09:00
marcustomlinsonShould I be part of https://launchpad.net/~ubuntumembers09:01
Laneynot for this, you want bug control09:02
marcustomlinsonah09:03
LaneyI guess there might be a case for having ~canonical-desktop-team join that instead of everyone individually09:04
Laneybut we don't have that atm09:04
marcustomlinsonwho has the powwwwerrrrr?09:05
Laneythere's a process listed on that wiki page I just linked09:05
marcustomlinsonoh right, I thought I could just skip that :P09:06
marcustomlinsonThere is a "Requirements for Teams" section seemly around what you suggested Laney09:07
Laneyyeah09:07
LaneyI pinged Brian in #ubuntu-devel, will see what he says09:10
Laneybut in the meantime, getting to your 5 bugs shouldn't be hard with oSoMoN's guidance :P09:10
xnoxhmmmm.... automated iso testing is getting confused by desktop and canary images09:47
seb128xnox, how so?09:50
xnoxi guess by the lack of any built or published =) i guess will check again tomorrow, as i see that canary-image ppa was updated for eoan today09:51
