[00:55] Wxl: mmm I didn't create the script, it should be created by dh [01:09] was a line in d/control, X-Python3-Version: >= 3.X that created this strange script [01:22] wxl @tsimonq2 repo is ready https://phab.lubuntu.me/source/lubuntu-update-notifier/ [01:23] please let me know your comments [01:54] copyright file is empty, don't know what to put in there [16:47] copyright empty is a policy violation heh [17:01] yup, and I can't fixed from here, my proxy doesn't let me connect to ssh repository. [21:05] standup? [21:06] Got any jokes? [21:06] Just kidding [21:06] I'm here [21:07] I didn't get to work on that repo last week but plan on utilizing the specific Riverbank docs that Hans provided in addition to just using dot operators wherever possible [21:08] ah yes the meeting [21:08] !standup [21:08] standup is @tsimonq2 @lynorian @HMollerCl @aptghetto @teward001 @SamuelBanya @kc2bez wxl[m] it's 2100 UTC Thursday which means it's time for the Lubuntu Development standup meeting! [21:09] \o [21:10] O/ [21:11] that all we got? [21:11] looks like it [21:11] go lynorian [21:12] I'm here too [21:13] I added a screenshot for changing the cursor on the appearnce changer [21:15] added qps prefrences screnshot [21:16] added styling to the installer [21:17] I added a ton of new detail for manual partitioning in the installer [21:17] I added how to toggle the menu in qterminal [21:18] I added more to quassel prefrences and options for zooming in and out of the text [21:19] options for right clicking on folders in pcmanfm-qt [21:19] margins for desktop icons [21:20] Added viewing for list playinst modes for vlc [21:20] searchbar and renaming notes for Noblenote [21:21] end of what I did [21:22] wow [21:22] great job as usual lyn [21:22] you also helped me figure out how to help with the manual (more on that later) [21:22] :) [21:22] go @kc2bez [21:22] yep [21:22] Sorry on my phone so no paste [21:23] no prob [21:23] Daily iso testing reveals that the install still fails [21:24] Pushed cala 3.2.7 to phab for review [21:24] That is it from me. [21:25] thanks. those are both two things i'd like to work on but it's been crazy for me [21:25] @HMollerCl you're up [21:25] ok [21:25] I could succesfully package lubuntu-updadte-notifier. [21:25] I uploaded the files for packaging to the repository https://phab.lubuntu.me/source/lubuntu-update-notifier/ but the copyright file is still empty because yesterday I hadn't decided which tou use. Today I decided for GNU GPL2 but from here I cannot update. [21:25] yay!!! gold star! [21:26] Please your comments on it and if something else is needed. [21:26] My concern on style is that I didn'ty use teh desktop.in method with disutils-extras, I used plain .desktop with .install. From what I read it should work, but if that the case why someone would use .desktop.in? [21:26] i don't think that matters [21:26] there's like 3 different packaging mechanisms. it's the way of linux: choices [21:26] ok [21:26] so, that's for me [21:27] EOL [21:27] EOF [21:27] why can't you update? because of the firewall? [21:28] yes, proxy didn't le my connect to ssh port 2222 [21:28] AAA I have some doubt with the text it shows [21:29] currently when upgrade is available it says "There are upgrades available. Do you want to do a system upgrade?\nThis will upgrade, install and remove packages" [21:29] and if they press upgrade it launcehs a full-upgrade [21:29] (not a safe-upgrade) [21:29] Do you think is that ok? [21:30] hm [21:30] do we know what the normal system does? [21:30] aaa, and I also tryed to edit the file directly in the browser but it says I don't have the privileges to do it. [21:31] @wxl [ do we know what the normal system does?], normal system is ubuntu? [21:31] @tsimonq2: i see that cala settings and some other packages we've made code for are GPL3. is that our default license? [21:31] yeah [21:31] @wxl [ @tsimonq2: i see that cala settings and some other packages we've made cod …], Usually [21:31] i'll add that to the guide [21:32] I wouldn't encourage more open licenses as much [21:32] I could use that to, I pick up GPL2 because it is what aptdaemon is using [21:34] btw @HMollerCl here's what i was talking about with regards to the different build systems.. you'll notice that though dh is by far the winner, people are still using other stuff https://trends.debian.net/build-system.png [21:35] teh way that 18.04 and ubuntu works is this: apt-check check which packages has uipgrades with full-upgrade first. If that doesn't involve removing packages it continues with those pakcages. If that involves removing some pakcages, it runs a safe-upgrade to check with packages will be available for upgrade. [21:35] ok so my list is pretty short: [21:35] * Added task to add Solved plugin to Discourse https://phab.lubuntu.me/T82 [21:35] * Generalized the upgrading page in the manual https://phab.lubuntu.me/rMANUALfb5fe5788e4624721f4aaa3695d1deb8c0878be0 [21:35] * Made a blog post announcing Discourse https://lubuntu.me/discourse/ [21:35] @HMollerCl [My concern on style is that I didn'ty use teh desktop.in method with disutils-ex …], Often used where there is a substitution to be made at build time [21:36] @HMollerCl is there a reason for us to not follow the same? [21:36] brb [21:36] For example, the update-notifier.desktop.on has substitutions … _Name=Update Notifier … _Comment=Check for available updates automatically [21:37] which at build time are replaced by all the current transaltions of those to make the real .destop [21:37] @wxl [ @HMollerCl is there a reason for us to not follow the same?], that I couldn't make it work, it use disutils-extras which doesn't have much documentation [21:37] just compare the .in in packaging with the .desktop from the .deb [21:38] thanks @acheronuk at least in this case transalatiosn are not needed it's a .desktop for autostart. [21:38] but maybe that's why it didn't work, I didn't use transaltions [21:42] wxl @tsimonq2 is this license? https://choosealicense.com/licenses/gpl-3.0/ [21:42] that is v3 [21:42] not the same [21:44] i thought that's what we wanted? [21:45] apparently is the same https://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-3.0.en.html [21:46] https://www.gnu.org/licenses/licenses.html [21:48] anyway, besides the license, what's next? [21:48] well we can continue that discussion but unless anything has something to add to the standup, let's call that done, eh? [21:49] well the copyright is like the most important and difficult thing [21:49] did you use licensecheck? [21:49] no, didn't knew it existed [21:50] probably unnecessary if it's all fresh code [21:50] it's fresh, but import modules [21:51] yeah i'm not sure how that works exactly [21:51] and calls apt_check.py (from update-notifier-common)) [21:51] perhaps @tsimonq2 can find some time in his schedule to help [21:52] ok, what about the text? You think is ok? Need some changes? "There are upgrades available. Do you want to do a system upgrade?\nThis will upgrade, install and remove packages" [21:53] how about "This will mean packages could be upgraded, installed, or removed." [21:53] i like it [22:05] wxl: how to check if it will be build? [22:05] I mean, how is buid in teh system [22:09] probably need to check with @tsimonq2 [22:54] @teward001 any reason i shouldn't just click upgrade on this new discourse version/ [22:55] includes security updates [22:57] oooh and joins over in ()s [22:57] @wxl [ @teward001 any reason i shouldn't just click upgrade on this new discourse …], Because I just did before reading your message [22:59] Done
