I can't boot. === MANIAC is now known as Guest79287 === himcesjf_ is now known as him-cesjf [08:48] Good morning [08:48] rebab: That sounds like grub, correct? [08:49] rebab: Yes. [08:50] I'd boot a live cd and verify that all the data (read partitions) are all still there. [08:50] Best case, your grub config got borked. [09:44] ik ben hier voor ' t eerst. Even kijken hoe ditg werkt. [09:46] hello paulus-M [09:46] wim__: Dit kanaal is over het algemeen Engels 😉 [09:47] tell me why. [09:47] Why what? [09:48] Waarom over 't algemeen? NL niet ntoegestaan [09:50] This is an English spoken channel. For Dutch join #ubuntu-nl [09:50] International folks and all. [09:52] @lordievader. TNX. But there is a lot of reply in Dutch to me.Strange. [09:53] OK I try #ubuntu-nl [09:54] see the blue rules. [10:15] goodmorning all [10:16] can I ask a question? [10:50] anyone have a link to a 14.04 i386 iso image? [12:25] I believe they are no longer supported, so they have been removed from the official mirrors. In a VM, you can try: https://www.osboxes.org/kubuntu/ [12:29] It was the last LTS with Plasma 4, and upgrading from Plasma 4 to 5 was difficult. Tried to change GTK2/3 theme from System Settings, but that didn't make any difference (except for other gtk applications). Any ideas? === krakrjak_ is now known as krakrjak [17:13] qwebirc28733, try original muon instead of synaptic. Synaptic is ok , but it's getting kind of long in the tooth [17:27] BluesKaj: I think I still prefer Synaptic over anything else. I'm just wonderind why the themeing is not working. On Unity desktop everything is fine. === jager is now known as bropam [17:50] qwebirc28733, mainly because it's native to gtk, not kde/plasma [17:51] gotta go, bbl [19:11] To change Synaptic's theme: copy ~/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini to /root/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini [19:12] I gues that has to suffice for now, though I would prefer to find a way to change it from userland, like it works on gnome and unity [19:15] delac, or create a /.root/.themes and copy there your theme. [19:16] diogenes_:gues that would work in case the theme is not installed system wise [19:22] anyone got any idea how unity and gnome manage to change root applications theme without root privileges? [21:13] I have a dual boot system where the windows got destroyed. I will have to reinstall windows. Before I will attempt to do thid I would like to do a complete backup of the running kubuntu. Which tools do you recommend? I find many titorials for complete backups but they are all a couple of years old. [21:18] This seems like a reasonable solution: https://www.ostechnix.com/backup-entire-linux-system-using-rsync/ [23:44] is there any preferred xsettings manager for kde? [23:52] any good reasons NOT to run unity-settings-daemon on KDE? [23:58] any reason to use a gtk/gnome tool on kde?
