Kumoolbloody hell, I tried changing the resolution and my screen turned white13:47
Kumoolhow do I change the resolution via command line?13:47
Kumoolalso the little timer for reverting the resolution doesn't work13:48
brainwashKumool: it stays white even after a relog?13:55
Kumoolwell I'm trying to use xrandr to change the resolution13:55
brainwashwithout success?13:56
Kumoolit says configure crtc 0 failed13:57
brainwashmaybe doing a "xfsettingsd --replace" could help13:58
KumoolI just wrote the command, jumped to xorg and pressed enter, it worked... but I'll try that and see13:59
Kumoolthis is a terrible bug, it should revert13:59
Kumoolit did nothing14:02
Kumoolbut I got it working by doing it blindly in X14:02
Kumoolby using xrandr, xfsettings --replace did nothing14:04
Kumoolmaybe I should switch to wayland, that works right?14:04
brainwashthat would not work at all14:05
brainwashXfce only works with xorg14:05
Kumoolaw14:08
Kumoolwell, it has less bugs right?14:08
brainwashit? wayland is only a protocol14:09
brainwashyou could try to find a bug report for the resolution issue14:10
brainwashpersonally, I've never heard of a screen turning white14:11
GridCubeneither have I14:13
KumoolI'll take a picture14:13
GridCubei believe you14:17
GridCubejust saying that it's not something that i've heard about before14:18
Kumoolit's not the first time its happened to me either, the screen turning white after a resolution change has happened to me in other laptops14:19
Kumoolbut the 10 second timer that reverts the screen back to what it was usually makes everything ok14:20

furycd001Hey guys I want to use xdotool with a keybinding to open a certain file in atom at a certin size & place. Atom seems to save the window size & placement by default for me, but I want this one window to be a certain size & place & the rest to all be something else. My problem is that I found "xdotool search --onlyvisible --name atom" but the code changes every time I open and close atom.20:56
furycd001I ope the atom file using "atom /home/furycd001/Mezzamorphis/Glo/Delirious.md" && I can use "xdotool windowsize 117440513 800 400 && xdotool windowmove 117440513 1090 480" to set the window size & position....20:56
furycd001My problem is that the code changes each time I close atom & I don't know what to do about this. I also don't know how to set a default size & placement for all atom windows bar this one that I want to be different....20:58
brainwashfurycd001: maybe the tool "devilspie" could help21:05
brainwashfurycd001: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Devilspie21:05
