diogenes_Klinda, fresh install? what system you used before installing kubuntu?16:34
IrcsomeBot<bauchhaus> @Klinda, Klinda: can you describe "seems not working" a bit more in detail?16:34
IrcsomeBot<bauchhaus> did you test both input and output?16:34
Klindain playback devices I have HDMI/DISPLAYPORT16:35
Klindaprobably is there the problem16:35
KlindaI go to youtube and I hear no audio16:35
IrcsomeBot<bauchhaus> Klinds: Go to Audio Volume Settings Audio Volume and select the output you want there. Klick front left/right to test16:41
KlindaI changed profile with analog stereo  and it's working16:42
Klindawhat is the best analog stereo? output, input or duplex?16:42

magic_ninja_workguys I just tried to do a system update and I keep getting this error...18:02
magic_ninja_workwait, nevermind, let me check space.18:02
magic_ninja_workgzip: stdout: No space left on device18:02
tomreyn\o/18:03
magic_ninja_workhttps://paste.debian.net/1090516/18:04
magic_ninja_workFresh install here. I can provide other info needed. The system is on LVM so I can resize stuff pretty easily.18:05
tomreynso what's your question? how to regain disk space? how to recover the system after regaining space?18:06
magic_ninja_workWhat to do. I can't install packages at the moment. I'm not sure what is doing on.18:07
magic_ninja_workAparently something is too small.18:07
tomreynshow the full command and output18:07
tomreyn...where the output included "gzip: stdout: No space left on device"18:07
tomreynchances are you were installing a newer kernel package18:08
tomreyn237M is not much for /boot18:08
magic_ninja_workhttps://paste.debian.net/1090517/18:08
tomreynyes that's about /boot18:10
tomreynif you have multiple kernels installed, you can purge one you are not currently running18:10
magic_ninja_workCan I just resize /boot ?18:10
tomreyndpkg -l linux* | grep ^i18:10
magic_ninja_workThis is a fresh install.18:10
tomreynwithout any updates installed?18:11
magic_ninja_workJust installed updates18:11
tomreynso you may have multiple kernel images installed already18:11
tomreynyour / and /home seem to be on LVM, but not /boot18:11
tomreynyou could shrink sda1 and increase sda218:12
tomreyn...from a live system18:12
magic_ninja_workCan LVM be shifted to make room for a larger boot partition?18:12
tomreynsudo fdisk -l /dev/sda | nc termbin.com 999918:13
tomreynbut i bet my other suggestion is better18:13
magic_ninja_workI only have the one kernel installed18:14
magic_ninja_workwhen I installed I set that partiton to be formated18:14
magic_ninja_workhttps://termbin.com/fce3a18:15
magic_ninja_workI still have the installer ISO, but it can't boot into a live system. This laptop doesn't like the noveau drivers and pretty much won't run them.18:17
tomreynso you could ensure that you have unallocated space in PV /dev/sda3, then pvmove all extents towards the end of this PV, then reboot into gparted live or the (k)ubuntu live /installer and use gparted (or maybe gdisk) to shrink the sda3 PV, then increase the sda2 partiton and file system, then chroot mount the system and update fstab and the initramfs with any modified UUIDs and then reboot into your system18:18
tomreynmaybe if you run nourveau with nomodeset it'll work with vesa18:19
tomreynor just disallow loading nouveau18:19
tomreynblacklist=nouveau as a !kernelparm18:20
tomreynyou can also reinstall, increasing the size for /boot - may be the easiest option18:21
magic_ninja_workthat will probably be best.18:22
magic_ninja_workWill the partition manager in the installer allow me to resize an LVM partition?18:22
magic_ninja_workI'm a bit new to LVM. Seems I would need to reduce the size of my /home by a few GB, then shrink the LVM, then allocate that space to the /boot partition.18:22
magic_ninja_workI may also back up my kde configs and see what the default kubuntu setup looks like.18:24
tomreynmagic_ninja_work: you'll be able to specify the size of logical volumes (and the file systems on them) while parittioning from scratch during a new installation18:26
tomreynthat's when using manual partitioning18:27
magic_ninja_worktomreyn, but I can't resize?18:27
tomreyni don't think you'll be able to reuse the existing LVs, or i would not recommend it.18:27
tomreynthats... as part of a new installation, you CAN edit things while using gparted on the live system18:28
magic_ninja_worktomreyn, okay, given the few things I have on this home system I'll just copy over the few app configs I need and do a fresh repartition.18:30
magic_ninja_workI'll just clean the disk. I think it would be faster than trying to get noveau to start up.18:31
magic_ninja_workI hope the power management on this kernel works better than on debian.18:31
tomreynthe kernel won't be that different compared to debian's, but you may have more proprietary blobs available which may improve behaviour. and newer kernel versions.18:37
magic_ninja_workyea, i already had a few hardware issues disappear from 4.19 to 5.018:37
magic_ninja_worknoveau didn't work on either.18:38
magic_ninja_workI'm hoping this suspend problem gets fixed too. using like 4W while suspended.18:38
magic_ninja_workkills battery and generates a nice bit of heat.18:38
magic_ninja_workanywho, bbl18:38
magic_ninjaokay, so I ended up having to get into a live disk anyway.19:15

magic_ninja_workthis time I left some padding in so that I could more easily shift stuff around.20:41
tomreyngood idea. you can actually have /boot on lvm by now, just the installer doesn't support it.20:44
tomreyn(for more flexibility)20:45
magic_ninja_worktomreyn, it took a bit to figure out how to manually do the lvm, though. That being said, I'm setting at about 4.5 hours battery life now on my dedicated gpu. I was at 4 hours on my IGP. I don't think my dedicated GPU was being correctly disabled.20:55
magic_ninja_workI mean 3.5-4W of power use while suspended is insane. And with the heat, I couldn't even leave it in my laptop.20:55
tomreyndoes its vender start with n and end with vidia?20:56
magic_ninja_workthe laptop or the mobile GPU ?20:56

magic_ninja_workthere we go. RevengeShip21:27
Snorghmahi guys, I'm running into an issue where the login screen when locking from inactivity is using the default layout but my login screen from booting is using my selected layout.  I changed this setting in the System Settings under the Startup and Shutdown section but it doesn't apply to the lock screen.  The lock section seems to not have customization options.  Is there anyway to customize this?21:37
magic_ninja_workSo good news. Power usage down to like 5-7W21:51
magic_ninja_workThat is a 50% reduction in power use.21:51
