[03:45] What to choose😫 [03:53] @The_Harbinger_of_Doom it all depends on what is most important to you [03:53] if you want the very latest plasma and KDE apps, neon is for you [03:54] if you prefer to wait for tested plasma and apps, kubuntu is for you [03:54] if you want long-term support: choose Kubuntu LTS [03:55] How they differ🤔 [03:55] what do you mean? [03:55] Kubuntu LTS [03:55] do you want *only* KDE software? [03:55] then you might like neon [03:55] if you use non-KDE software, choose Kubuntu [03:56] LTS=Long Term Support [03:56] for up to 3 years [03:56] 16.04, 18.04 and the next will be 20.04 [03:57] in April 2020 [03:57] Thank you, I choose Kubuntu [03:58] * valorie is running 19.04 and will upgrade in a few months [03:58] cool [03:58] ATO many Linux appeared [03:59] Kubuntu has been produced nearly since the beginning of Ubuntu [03:59] 19.04 9 months [03:59] right [04:00] right [04:00] I usually upgrade when the beta comes out, because I do testing for the team [04:01] This is the official group [04:01] official group? [04:01] this is the kubuntu support channel [04:03] 😎 [04:08] I'm sitting here on Ubuntu thinking it is necessary to change the views of the design of Kubuntu better in the future got. [04:16] Sorry for this question 😊 All developers Kubuntu in this group understand. [04:21] hello all, what difference kde neon - kubuntu [04:22] what is the difference they === jason is now known as Guest95548 [05:36] he waited for a good amount of time before getting an answer [06:15] Good morning [07:30] the AMDGPU-PRO 19.20 drivers didn't work for me on Kubuntu, but appeared to have removed sddm [08:00] hello guys! [08:14] Since I reinstalled my Kubuntu 18.04 3 weeks ago, there is a new error: Everytime I click on a previoulsy unmounted physical device in the device section of dolphin in my desktop (sdb, sdc etc.) to mount it, an error comes up saying (translated): "Access to home folder produced an error. Device is already mounted: Device /dev/sdc1 is already mounted at '/media/pan/Seagate3T'." But it was not mounted until I clicked on it. A second [08:14] click on the lets me access the device/partition without a problem. That did not happen before. I have not setup any automounts. Any advice? [08:42] a bug fixed in the backports PPA, which I guess you had [09:06] @RikMills, Thank you a lot, Rik! For this solution in particular and for your work in general! You have helped me countless times! [12:33] Howdy folks [14:12] Hello, I installed ubuntu today and I need to install a flash player firefox [14:13] kubuntu [14:20] The_Harbinger_of_Doom video firefox should work on most sites since html5 was included a few yrs ago [14:21] you shouldn't need a flash player, but there are plugins like fresh player [14:22] Thanks you [14:41] (Photo, 1280x719) https://irc-attachments.kde.org/oTyvObV7/file_16585.jpg tell me what the error( [14:49] The_Harbinger_of_Doom open /etc/apt/sources.list and make sure the multiverse source is uncommented (no # at the line beginning) [14:51] the deb http line [14:54] hi [14:54] where are my vpn configs stored on 18.04? [14:55] i think it's network-manager doing the connecting [14:55] using openconnect [14:56] using cisco ? [14:57] using the network connection thingy that comes with kubuntu [14:57] TomyWork, which vpn? [14:57] like i said, openconnect [14:58] which vpn server? [14:58] the package i had to install for it is called "network-manager-openconnect" [14:58] VPN protocol says "Cisco AnyConnect" [14:58] that's the client, I'm asking about the vpn server [14:59] heck if i know what they're running ^^ [14:59] i just know it worked 10 minutes ago, now when reconnecting it doesn't anymore and i wanna look at the config files [15:00] i think it retrieved a wrong hostname and is using that now [15:00] did you download a gui app from cisco ? [15:00] i wanna see if i can kick that out [15:00] no [15:00] like i said, i'm using the thing that came with kubuntu [15:00] and network-manager-openconnect [15:00] TomyWork, look in /etc/openconnect [15:01] doesn't exist [15:01] ok [15:01] and i dont see how that could possibly be there [15:01] since i configured that for this user only [15:01] if you installed openconnect it should be there [15:01] it's in /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections [15:01] odd [15:04] dunno much about openconnect anyway since i use openvpn without NM [15:06] i think i stored a password i since changed... need to delete that somehow [15:06] but nm restores the config file every time i connect [15:06] i'll just redo the connection [15:08] well, it would since openconnect is part of the conf file [15:10] look for a file something like "login.txt" [15:10] in /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections [15:11] it stores the username and pw [15:13] there's no login.txt [15:13] redoing the connection helped, btw [15:13] exactly once though :D [15:14] basically i'd have to recreate the connection every time i want to connect [15:14] then it's being overwritten, probly by NM [15:15] it keeps saying "Invalid host entry. Please re-enter." [15:16] but i can't re-enter shit cause it isn't asking me for anything [15:17] https://www.infradead.org/openconnect/ there's many tabs with explanations [15:23] can i make network-manager reread my changes to those files? that'd help tremendously [15:26] think network-manager-openconnect would be the file to look at, not nm itself [15:27] file? [15:35] BluesKaj, ok there is some weird bug in networkmanager or the plugin [15:36] I made it so the hostname (which seems to be a label) of the hostentry resolves to the same ip as the actual fqdn [15:36] also i hardcoded the fqdn's ip in /etc/hosts [15:36] now i get 2 hostentries [15:37] one works, one doesn't [15:37] *shrug* [17:29] where to find will allow you to adjust the color temperature of the screen to reduce eye strain. [17:30] Night color scheme [18:06] !info redshift [18:06] redshift (source: redshift): Adjusts the color temperature of your screen. In component universe, is extra. Version 1.11-1ubuntu1 (bionic), package size 77 kB, installed size 419 kB [18:07] sudo apt-get install redshift redshift-gtk 🤔 [18:09] through the terminal you can [18:11] Redshift as Linux Mint === Lord_of_Life_ is now known as Lord_of_Life === MANIAC is now known as Guest33942 [21:55] Hmm are there any MariaDB/MySQL GUI clients available for 19.04? I don't need much, just tabs and a spreadsheet-style output area. Been using MySQL Workbench but it seems to have been dropped from the repos. [22:38] keithzg-M: there was some big security issue with MariaDB/MySQL etc. [22:38] I don't remember the details [22:39] or what is the new best available === brett is now known as brett__ === brett__ is now known as KaynRyu === jaafar_ is now known as jaafar [23:19] valorie: I mean as far as I can tell, MySQL Workbench isn't available since it requires an old version of OpenSSL. But it's not like MariaDB or MySQL has been dropped from the repos, and the CLI clients are still there. I just need a biiiiit more than a terminal interface generally (I'm still hand-writing the queries, it's more in terms of easily handling the output). [23:20] yeah [23:21] (This might be the thing that finally pushes me over the edge into trying to write a simple Qt GUI for MariaDB, although I should probably try ocelotgui first, maybe that'll be Good Enough) [23:22] I wanted to ask about kde mobile [23:23] can be installed on asus [23:23] @The_Harbinger_of_Doom - plasma moble? [23:23] yes [23:23] I think the site is plasma-mobile.org [23:23] and they should have install guides there [23:24] yep, that's the right link [23:24] https://www.plasma-mobile.org/ [23:25] Unfortunately for mobile devices, the answer to "can I..." is almost always no :P (It starts with most bootloaders being locked, and goes downhill from there.) [23:25] my english is not so advanced((((😢 [23:26] I hope will be on sale smartphones with plasma [23:32] Kde connect for smartphone that gives [23:36] that is the plan [23:37] @The_Harbinger_of_Doom - what's your first language? [23:43] Russian [23:45] English, I know a little [23:46] well bummer, I thought there might be a KDE-ru channel but no [23:46] :( [23:47] there are quite a few Russians and russian speakers though [23:48] do not worry learn English [23:48] https://vk.com/kde_ru [23:48] will have some info [23:48] well yes [23:48] https://ilyabiz.com/2018/02/kde-russia/ Ilya is really helpful [23:50] keithzg-M: yes, phpMyAdmin [23:50] chealer: Hahaha good one [23:52] still exactly like the english language to communicate in english though exe so little [23:52] I still like English and speak English at least a little. [23:53] and I love to hear Russian but know none
