[14:06] hey [14:06] does anyone know how I can get ubuntu running on the pi 4? [14:08] it doesn't want to boot. [14:38] i can only offer you an ubuntu core image ... https://people.canonical.com/~ogra/snappy/raspberrypi4/core18/ [15:42] is it 64-bit? [15:42] urgh, no, why would it [15:42] (i like my ram) [15:43] 64-bit has the ram fixed [15:43] ?? [15:43] the kernel had the 4Gb memory issue fixed. [15:43] 64bit binaries allocate about twice as much ram with no extra benefit [15:43] (due to the bigger word size) [15:44] so effectively you only waste space by running 64bit on a device with <= 4GB ... [15:45] unless the binaries are actually optimized for 64bit, you wont really have any benefit from running 64bit stuff on a board like this ... [15:48] * satellit only rpi4 using 64 bit I have found: https://wiki.sugarlabs.org/go/Fedora_31#Manjaro-ARM-xfce-rpi4 [15:48] oh and i didnt know there were memory issues ... my image works with 4GB since july... and is stable [15:48] have rpi4 4GB here [15:49] same here [15:49] * satellit manjaro uses only 3 GB [15:50] ogra@pi4:~$ free -m|grep Mem [15:50] Mem: 3892 324 2055 23 1512 3506 [15:50] well, some is allocated to the GPU by default
