[01:21] good morning [01:22] good morning [01:22] hey sveta === sveta is now known as Sveta [03:21] Good morning Sveta , may the blessings of he and her be yours today, and that of yours tomorrow [06:29] Good morning [06:30] good morning [06:32] Good morning [07:22] Does anybody know what time is glitchd banned? He pasted output to chat by accident. [07:36] ask #ubuntu-ops ? [07:39] Thanks Sveta [07:41] no worries [10:33] !releases [10:33] Ubuntu releases a new version every 6 months. Each version is supported for 9 months (non-LTS) or 5 years (LTS). More info at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases and https://wiki.ubuntu.com/TimeBasedReleases [10:40] hi.... [10:43] hey immu :-) [10:43] whats up [10:43] not much, friday feeling [10:43] relaxing [10:44] done cleaning and ironing and garbage and shopping [10:45] ccol [10:46] i am just lazzzing out [11:23] no matter which distro i go to try out i always end up with Ubuntu [12:10] Howdy all [12:11] BluesKaj, howdiii [12:36] !core === jelly-home is now known as jelly === akem-hp_ is now known as akem-hp [14:36] I think rtl8723be wifi still has a memory leak but only really noticeable after maybe a week of uptime or more. It was 30 days and RAM was nearly full and swap was used too. [14:37] I blacklisted it, and i use another wifi chip on USB, for now there is no leak i'm still at about 1GB RAM used after few days... [14:55] still on that topic eh? :) [15:09] Yeah because maybe people shutdown their laptop everyday, so they wouldn't notice it, and servers don't run on Wifi usually. [15:11] i think i might have a similar issue akemlenovo_ [15:11] chrome couldn't handle having video play on one screen and 3 tabs on the other. saw i was at 6.8/8gb used, so i rebooted and it went down to ~2.5gb used [15:11] In my case the laptop is up all the time on Wifi with qbittorrent and IRC with a bot but no heavy stuff running. [15:11] i usually keep my laptop on overnight [15:13] pizzaiolo, Yep, if you can't trace back the memory then it's probably the same problem, you have 8723be wifi chip? [15:13] not sure, let me check [15:14] i believe it's a killer 1535 [15:15] QCA6174 [15:16] That's Atheros so not the same [15:17] pizzaiolo: akemlenovo_'s issue was there was no sign of what was using the memory neither per-process or for the kernel, and the cause was a missing "kfree(skb)" (failure to free memory for a socket buffer) in some edge-cases. [15:17] akemlenovo_: seems like maybe there are more rare paths with the same problem [15:21] TJ-, Yes, i think it must be the same sort of problem, i'm waiting some more time with it blacklisted to see if things are running normally. I'm still using Wifi but it's another chip, on USB. [15:23] ah, i see. thanks for the info TJ- [15:38] i certainly would hope no wifi on servers :) [15:38] daftykins, yeah :) but sometimes there is maybe the case with servers with Wifi APs, for hotels or other places with captive portals for clients to connect with their Wifi. [15:39] you wouldn't have a radio directly in a PC to run any of that [15:41] I see but on the routers then? It would probably run some linux too, but most likely a very well tested version for the hardware its running. [15:43] if a router were running a full standard Linux you'd not have wireless in it again - i know where you're coming from but it's a massive stretch :) [15:43] cheap laptop with rubbish wifi card and driver vs. kit deployed for proper jobs [15:44] was there some mix of HWE kernel involvement also, anyway? i forget [19:23] ./blacklist weekendtrolls [19:27] can i be on your list? [19:27] *hips* [19:28] :p === sveta_ is now known as Sveta
