fuzeI am trying to resolve this bug: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=364766#c6700:30
ubottuKDE bug 364766 in general "Graphics distorted after suspend/resume with nvidia" [Normal,Unconfirmed]00:30
fuzeIs there a way for me to install this upstream patch: https://codereview.qt-project.org/c/qt/qtdeclarative/+/27191200:30
valoriefuze: yes but you would have to build the part of the system that needs to be patched from source (I think)01:01
valorieit's been a long time since I tested a patch01:01
valoriealthough adding some settings to an rc file is easy01:03
valoriefuze: what version of kubuntu are you using?01:04
fuze18.0401:04
valorieaha01:04
valorieso you have an older Qt01:04
valorieI suspect that if you upgraded to 19.04 it would be fixed for you01:05
valoriehowever, it's sort of late to do that01:05
valorieI doubt you can upgrade Qt on your machine; the neon team takes lots of trouble to do that for their users01:07
fuzeLTS is best01:07
fuzeNo workaround for that particular bug than restarting plasmashell?01:07
valoriesome devels do it but usually in /opt or so01:07
valoriefuze: first I've heard of it01:07
valorieLTS is best for some users, for sure01:08
valoriepersonally I'm using 19.04 with both backports and the beta PPA enabled01:08
valoriewould not like to be on LTS01:09
fuzeWhat do you do when the new lts comes out?01:09
valoriethe next LTS is 20.04, which is April 202001:11
valorieI upgrade every six months -- usually at the time of the beta01:12
valoriewhich I will do again this time01:12

fuzevalorie: I thought you had to reinstall if you're not using lts02:55
valorieoh heck no02:59
valorieyou just need to upgrade within 9 months03:00
valorieI only reinstall for testing03:00
valorieno problems upgrading for some years03:00

AdAstraHi. Just one question. In recent months, have there been any updates (whether security or other normal ones to any user) in Kubuntu (latest stable version)? Thanks.04:10
valorieAdAstra: yes04:15
valoriealthough unsure by latest stable you mean 18.04 the LTS or 19.04 the latest release04:16
valoriein both cases, yes there have been updates04:16

BluesKajHowdy folks11:50
muhahaguys, what are you using as google drive client ?  I need offline access / sync11:58
mparillomuhaha: I think there is no official answer. I use kio-gdrive, but that is not off-line.11:58
muhahamparillo: i saw that lastest release is 2017, is it working ?11:59
mparilloIt works for me, yes. Basically it allows Dolphin to mount your gdrive.11:59
mparilloBut: (1) It converts Google docs to ODT/ODS, if you edit in place, which can be undesirable for those who use GDrive to collaborate with others who expect native GDrive docs.12:00
muhahahttps://github.com/gdrive-org/gdrive/commit/06117fa349db55980766e89d31b6d9afbccedd2a#diff-04c6e90faac2675aa89e2176d2eec7d812:02
mparillo(2) I have lost File Associations. I cannot reliably replicate it, but I tend to save as... to my Downloads, then upload back to GDrive using the web client when convenient.12:02
mparilloI think you are linking to something else.12:03
muhahaGoogle Drive CLI Client12:03

muhahaah12:04
muhahaI will have to settle with mega.nz then :x12:05
muhahaI am not a fan of half baked solutions12:05

IrcsomeBot<anvarom> Hello everyone! I have two technical questions: … 1- In older versions, in multimedia settings, there had an option to create a virtual device for simultaneous output, but in Kubuntu 19.04 this option is not present. Someone can tell me why? … 2- Could someone tell me if is possible connect more than one audio bluetooth device in A2DP mode? For now I only can connect one in A2DP mode, it does not let me connect more than one in th18:32

Bundestrojanergood evening. i have a strange problem with KDE (Kubuntu 18.04LTS): After entering my main users' password and hitting enter, the login screen freezes. I can successfully login with a second user (created for testing) and if I stop sddm and execute startx  as my main user, it takes me - without login - directly into kde...19:54
BundestrojanerI've already tried some things found over google (deleting the cache, renaming plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc, kwinrc, kdeglobals,...)19:54
JamesB192Bundestrojaner: I  suggest it is a problem with sddm. if it was a problem with KDE it would have triggerred at startx aswell. unless it is sddm handing off the session and kde fumbling it. Do not listen to me.20:31
BundestrojanerJamesB192: thx for your help :)20:48
Bundestrojanerthe problem have been files in ~ owned by root. particularly .Xauthority20:48
JamesB192Anyone have an idea why my new laptop (Dell Inspiron 3552) does not like booting the 18.04.3 live coaster I burned in EFI mode?20:53
