[19:15] mamarley: 440 driver needs some fixes in bionic? [19:15] Atm. when installing it i have this error Error! Bad return status for module build on kernel: 5.0.0-31-generic (x86_64) [19:16] soee_: I apologize for your difficulties. It should say to consult a specific log file for the exact error. Could you please pastebin that file? [19:16] mamarley: no need to apologize :) I like to test driovers, softwere etc. [19:18] mamarley: https://pastebin.com/yvQZHZ7j [19:18] i hope it helps somehow [19:19] Uh there are Polish texts inside [19:21] That's not something I've ever seen beforeā€¦ [19:22] It would appear to be some incompatibility between the driver and the kernel, but that typically only happens for new kernels. I honestly don't know why that would happen, sorry. [19:24] Hmm now after purgin it isntalled fine i think oO [19:24] That's even weirder. [19:24] https://pastebin.com/dtC2zPJD [19:25] This isn't a problem i think: Warning: The home dir /nonexistent you specified can't be accessed: No such file or directory ? [19:26] I wonder wgy it mentions: dpkg-query: no packages found matching libnvidia-gl-435 [19:27] anyway brb, reboot [19:27] There's something in the installation script that checks for old versions. I don't know why because I didn't write that part. [19:30] Works https://i.imgur.com/vukr1gF.png :) [19:30] Great job, as always mamarley :) [19:30] Thanks! [22:29] mamarley: someone emailed to me that 440 doesn't build on eoan [23:36] tjaalton: Yeah, I responded to that. The person didn't provide enough information for me to do anything. I definitely tested the driver on my own Eoan system though and had no problem. [23:38] I'm wondering if it is the same problem soee had earlier. His problem was fixed after purging, but he didn't say whether he purged the old driver or the new one before reinstalling. That would point to some kind of garbage getting left behind from the old driver, but I'm not sure how that could cause the error soee saw. [23:39] (I always purge the old driver before installing a new one, which could explain why I didn't encounter any problem.)
